You just described one of my sister in laws. Dealing with her is a lot easier now that she has a smart phone. I just mention some really esoteric fact, and she spends the next 20 minutes researching it online. That's 20 minutes nobody else has to listen to her.

You won't be surprised to find out that I've come mighty close a few times. Every time I plant a rose, or bush, I find 1860's military pottery. Only once has that turned into a 1x1 excavation unit (found a 45 caliber Henry's rimfire on that one). My wife now closely supervises any time I dig in the yard.

Exactly the way the Boomers felt about the previous generation. Yes, the "Greatest Generation" won WWII, and brought prosperity to the USA in many ways. They also perpetuated a lot of inequality and fought hard against civil rights, womens rights, etc.

And don't forget, the "nuclear family" concept of Mom, Dad, and kids living in their own house is a post WWII phenomenon. Prior to that for the vast majority of people, for the vast majority of history, generational families shared the same household.
