After reading this thread I was curious about you and googled your name and found your long exit story. I read it all and found that it was similar to mine, only I wasn't ever as fervent as you were. I did work for the LDS church for a short while that coincided with my leaving. I got ratted on by co-workers too, and had my level of "mormonism" questioned. When I started working for

One old man always had something loony to say, but the one that stood out in my mind was him going on and on about how evil cable tv was. Then he told everyone that it didn't matter if you didn't subscribe to cable, satellites are beaming it down and the signals to those R rated movies are all around as at all times, even if we don't subscribe to cable.

I was only TBMish at my most deluded, and most the time I was a reluctant member just trying to stay out of hell. But I always knew on some level what you were explaining. One time my 13-year-old son and I were driving past the cathedral of the Madeline in SLC on a Saturday when people were going to church. He said how weird they were because it was Saturday. Even though I was probably at the

I've heard that they get about $200,000 in perks as part of the big 15. To get that on the outside as a retirement wage, they would have had to put 4 million away to live off the investment and get the $200,000 a year to live off. Having the equivalent of a 4 million dollar retirement plan is a hard thing to walk away from. I talked with a public service employee over the weekend who has work

"...if your spirit doesn’t go on then the whole church... why have a church? We don’t need any of this." Perhaps a good response to that would have been, "well a church gives it's leaders standing in the community and money, so it would still have a purpose. Don't you get about $200,000 a year?"

In an over-the-top flirtatious style go up to him and say something like, "I heard that they changed the date for this event so that you and I could be together!" Then give him a hug.

Couldn't a Satan, who descended from a Satan have a mean little plan where they create things just to watch them suffer? On earth, mean spirited people create things.

With Patriotism everyone thinks that their country is the greatest. They get misty eyed when they hear their national anthem and see their flag. I remember being young and watching the Olympics and seeing the Russians win a Gold and getting the whole anthem and flag treatment. I saw how proud the Russians were, and how it did nothing at all for me. But when the Americans won, I felt so much,

I taught Priesthood meeting and worked for the church when I become a doubter. I started putting too much truth in my lessons, and was fired. Then I started asking the wrong questions in GD class and getting the air sucked out of the room. Then stopped going at all. The missionaries came a couple of times and they got too much truth and never came back. The EQ Pres came once and now t

He sounds like the type who will choose the church over you, and you should consider that. Their are many stories here about good parents, good spouses who found that the LDS church was a lie. When they stopped going to church, the TBM spouse dumped them. If you choose to marry a TBM mormon, if you ever leave it won't matter how good of a spouse you are, it won't matter how good of a pare
