My boobs were always slipping out of the cup because of the stupid garments. I finally started wearing the bra UNDER. My (then) teenage daughter self-righteously let me know how wrong it was. I told her that when Heavenly Father started wearing a bra, then he could tell me how to wear mine! Stupid bishop, stupid cult.

This is such a perfect description of what so many of us have lived. I hope you'll share the response -- if any. Thank you for posting this.

It is just typical Mormon arrogance speaking. Millions of children are raised very well and become productive and independent adults without the "aid" of TSCC. In fact, I would argue, that being raised in the church does more harm than good in the long run. Your parents are being manipulative, parochial and self-serving.

I don't care so much that non-lds be able to attend temple weddings. It could be a good thing, I suppose since they would get a first-hand look at weird-central. What I would like to see is TBM couples being allowed to have a civil ceremony -- done however they want it: Private with only witnesses in the forest, small, intimate gathering on a beach, huge amounts of people and a giant wedding

Sounds like a loving and authentic wedding between loving and authentic people. I'm sure all the TBM's have their garmies in a wad, but I'm equally sure everyone else loved it for its honesty and style!

The singing -- I will always miss the singing. And the occasional times I would be a bit subversive. -- that was fun, too. and that's about it!!

I think that was more a reflection of a national style than a mormon thing. I lived in Utah, and yes, I made them for my daughters. But my Catholic sister in California had her flower girls dressed in Holly Hobby type dresses and bonnets. Her bridesmaids wore gingham. It may have been more popular among mormons due to the pioneer-like styles and the modesty issues, but it's popularity

67 female white Northern California part-member/inactive parents mentally done after about 45 years. resigned 5 years later The church's paranoia and arrogant exclusivity finally became too much. All the false history stuff I have learned since is just delicious gravy.

This happens because it is such a judgemental church/culture and there are many who want to out-righteous the next guy. My favorite part of the WoW is where it is said that is is given "not by commandment" . . .

Sexy Lover and I (76 and 67 respectively) were sitting at an outside table at In 'n' Out enjoying a burger after a day of plant shopping and stuff young people do when a mom and two kids show up. The kids are being kids - excited to be getting some fun food on a sunny afternoon -- laughing and jumping -- very exuberant. The were coming in our direction and the mom looked at us and said "no

He totally disrespected her with both things. He refused to give any importance to what she told him regarding her attendance and he totally ignored what SHE has chosen as her name. thinking of lots of profanities .....

My grandmother, married to an inactive (only was baptized when he married her), went to the temple and received her endowments when her son (my uncle) was married. That was in the 1940's.

I'm trying to figure how to best word this - In the church, female=motherhood and male=priesthood (not fatherhood). That is where the importance lies. So a woman who wants more voice, who doesn't feel equal, is told she is just as important as a man - just in a condescendingly different way. Being a mother is more important for women than having a voice (the way I choose to denote authorit

I admit to being a frequent user of 'jesus christ' and 'god'. Somehow it seems very natural. I suppose that is because it is heard so often.

Doesn't the new donation slip have a disclaimer of sorts on it that says something to the effect that the church retains the right to spend the money as it wants and not necessarily how the donor wants?
