Mormons hold that the Atonement took place in the Garden, not on the cross. They literally believe Luke’s Gospel that the anguish caused Christ to sweat drops of blood. This view is enshrined in D&C 19, 16-19: 16 For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent; 17 But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I; 18 Which s

Mine have been routine follow up mostly with PAs. One ne hand, the visits are mostly useless, but they allow billing of insurance (and may actually keep some folks with jobs). Best wishes for health, Catnip!

Morg leaders have to “assume the mantle of leadership,” so they distance themselves through various mind games—making grandeous gestures, using very formal language, and adopting superior holier-than-thou attitudes. As I had a no-contact directive in my resignation, it’s been a while since my local leaders stopped by for a “we love you” chat. When they did in the past the above we

Just a guess—Moroni seemed too outside mainstream Christianity and many never-MOs may have see the statue as a idol. The new ChurchCo logo puts Jesus in the middle of the church (at least in its tacky logo).

Stillanon, I wonder if it’s more that the governor is concerned with the “wing-nuts” who would organize and flaunt an order. So far, Utah (with a few Airport exceptions) is staying careful. Most people, myself included, are scared shitless of COVID-not only for ourselves but for infecting others. I’m socially-distanced from grandkids, I don’t want them exposed if I’m a carrier. I hope

An LDS woman can give a blessing to a sick child if she wants to. What she does in her own home isn’t subject to overseers—that is, unless, she gives the Morg leadership or her husband the opportunity to do so. I baptized my own children WITHOUT the Morg’s permission—mainstream Christianity (including Catholics and Orthodox) has always considered baptism valid when done with faith and

Why wasn’t it wasn’t a revelation. Perhaps this gives future leaders a backstop to disclaiming the Vision and historicity of the Book of Mormon.

We’re needed. Sure, we’re needed to tell the top brass they’re hurting families and individuals. We’re needed to tell them to stop hoarding money and come clean with their finances. We’re needed to tell them to come clean about church history. And we’re needed to clean the toilets.

Just my opinion, but a lot of the newer Utah temples are built to look big, but really aren’t. For example, the Cedar City Temple looks massive driving southward on I-15 from a distance. But, getting off the freeway and seeing the building up close reminds me of Disney’s “forced perspective” used on Sleeping Beauty’s Castle.

Syracuse, UT is directly west of Layton, Utah in Davis County. This is about 20 miles north of SLC in a highly populated area between Salt Lake and Ogden. Davis would have three temples—Bountiful, Layton, and Syracuse. If temples are indeed the money-makers, all three would form a kind of equilateral triangle and would ensure “temple coverage” in an area known for greater concentration of M

The logo looks like a cemetery monument! But, this is another indicator of how LDS, Inc is trying to seem more mainstream as a denomination. Unfortunately, for Mormons, this re-branding isn’t going to make all the well-known fringe practices and views of the church seem mainstream, there’s too much easily accessible information available. In a sense, the logo is “preaching to the Tabernacle

Don’t know about the CBD, sorry Warrior, that that person was a jerk. It sounds like you’re holding n. I’m going crazy right now because GC is on. I’ve reminded myself I’m not going to get angry or depressed that my family is gathered around the tube. I can hear a woman’s voice speaking right now, at least it’s not the old farts pumping out gas. Stay strong, Bro!
