Whether they choose to marry or not, people should be able to sit by and console their loved ones at bedside. Even if that couple never chose to marry (if they could) it isn't right if there is no compassion when people are suffering loss.

I realized how much I enjoyed my own company and how fun and funny I am as a friend to just myself. I like me. Other people being disappointed in us is their attempts to control us for their own benefit. They are guests in my life and they dont have to stay. When I realized these two things it set me on the path to being okay with just being me.

This seems appalling unless there is more to the story about being disruptive. They didn't go to any details about that part. If I were disruptive to my husband's recovery I would probably be asked to leave.

The really young ones shouldn't be sent out of the country. Keep them in their own state (if U.S.) or a neighboring one.

I was having doubts though wouldn't admit it to myself fully yet. Lurked for quite awhile if I recall. I read about the mall and double bind on the main page. That's when I started to get really worried that I was on shaky ground. It was a terrible feeling. That's when the doubts took hold in a significant way.

Yep, your in trouble. It's hard to side step trouble. It's so easy to get into when married to a believer.

I would try my best to be self sufficient and sustaining. If you have too much debt maybe file bankruptcy. I wouldn't count on help from them. You have your own family to worry about. My husband and I have never had financial help. Everything we have done or accomplished, we've done on our own.

He and his wife founded Solid Rock Foundation and put on golf tournaments to promote and raise funds for it. I've not heard of anyone who thinks poorly of him at all, but I guess there will always be someone.

I'm blonde and lighten my hair. Most blondes put highlights in it because mousy looks bad. I've tried other colors but I look ridiculous. I know what you mean about all those blondes. I think it's odd too. But if you are blonde your whole life you tend to stick with it.

I agree. Culturally, inauthenticity would not be a natural fit. The truth would matter.

Yes, take your time. Stay active if you want. Not everyone here are ex Mormons. There are a lot who are still working things through. Others just lurk here and read. We are all in different stages. There are people here who still hold callings. There are even ex bishops, stake presidents, etc. on this board. Even a past prophet's grandson. Lots of former missionaries too and people with rich Mor

None will change. None of those. I think it would look like this: 1. Women can wear pants to church without facing judgment about it. 2. Tank tops are ok as long as there is a 1 inch strap. 3. Colored shirts with a tie are acceptable. 4. Turning down a callings once in awhile is not a grave sin. 5. Relief Society presidents elected by women not men 6. A man doesn't has to represent pri

If you mean by activist atheists people who try and convert others to atheism, it doesn't really bother me. It has caused me to really think about what I believe and call things into question. If I had a gripe about some of them it would only be one thing. Some could say "Hi my name is so and so, I know atheism is true". They have the answer already just like Mormons do. I gravitate tow

I'm sorry you feel that way. I hope you find a place you will find to be more encouraging as you work through the fence sitting. Maybe you haven't given it much of a chance. If you come with questions I have found people to be very respectful of one another's differences. Is that true 100 percent of the time? No. But these are real people who say it like it is. LDS don't tend to be used to that (

Just like sacrament. Ever look around? Few are listening or even singing. Even when speakers are crying up there from a family tragedy they are sharing or simply because they are touched by what they themselves are saying, there aren't that many from what I can see, who even take time to listen or care. It is all about going through the motions and checking it off the list. Works without faith

What do you mean? I live with people who tell of their dreams and supernatural and devil all the time. I listen to this kind of stuff. Good grief. And these are Mormons in their 40's. Maybe they ARE old school because back in their days of indoctrination it could be this is the stuff that was promoted.

He pulled a William Law and left without a word. Can't find this story anywhere else. Sounds like they do sell their souls. No wonder GA's stick around so consistently.

I changed my husband's pic when he calls me back on my cell to a cartoon character pointing his finger at me in disapproval with a button on that says "SIN" with a slash through it. I also changed the ringtone to a barking dog. It makes me feel happy and naughty at the same time every time he calls. Two weeks ago he threatened to leave. I told him okay. Then he put the suitcase away a

I don't see how it can be a possibility that among all those men there are not at least some who don't believe. It stands to reason there are serious things holding them in there with a vow not to speak up about it. I wish among them the noble ones would rise up and speak out. Unless they are convinced the people need the church and therefore let's continue promoting the good and diminishing the

Yes I BELIEVE that's true :). My TBM just said to his dad how "bright" a man he is. While this is my sentiment too, I couldn't help recall the Dodo comment and smile a little to myself.
