I bet there are lots of elements to this survival gene thing. Both things we perceive as bad AND good. Maybe they strike a balance to strengthen us as a human species? Or destroy us eventually? Don't know. But this could be taken into taboo and un-PC areas to explore, definately.

How about the creation of religion? Is that a survival gene thing? This is interesting.

Honestly. How many people have said " Dear Lord, PLEASE help me find my keys. PLEASE! I know there are starving kids who are a more important matter but I'm begging you. I promise I will put them back next time I just need help just this one more time". Or "PLEASE help my team win" "Please help me win the lottery"

I find it a very telling thing when our mo's who don't follow the prophet and WOW get irate if you bring to light that a bishop could actually frequent places of ill repute on the down low and then go berserk on their own sister and accuse you whom he has known forever of slander. It's like a fierce trigger in them which proves even more how it messes up the mind.

These kinds of stories are very important to get out there to people. It helps them understand that being gay is not a choice. I can tell you that I used to think it was a choice until I sat and talked with my husband's boss who is gay, one night over drinks by a pool. He told me of his Christian upbringing, his love of music, the pain he felt as he struggled to raise a family and live a traditi

Maybe when he moves out he will be happier. The sexual orientation part: sometimes you never figure it out. Some people are natural hermits as well.

I agree. I'm happy for anyone who finds the golden nugget. Hang onto it. I have and still go through doubts but in the end I still have hope in Jesus Christ. Maybe not in the same way as other Christians but I still do. The idea I'm just random doesn't satisfy or resonate with me.

Grace to me means I don't have to worry whether I am acceptable to God or not. It has been covered and the verdict is already in. Suckafoo matters. She is loved how she is created. Even with her doubts and fears she matters. Does it mean I will take care of her earthly needs? She is responsible to take care of her own earthly needs and also to be kind to her fellow man. She is the author of her

Raptor, this is depressing. I have nothing to add constructively but just hope there, at some point, will be a balance reached so that you can enjoy your life rather than grin and bear through it, and that you find your way out of this dark pit. At 17 I went through a 2-year depression. It was hard to come out of it. Running did it for me. I got mentally stronger through getting physically stro

Boy. Sounds super fun! I'm sad I missed out on such exciting events. My husband told me he and his buddies would go and when the young ladies found out he was divorced already they would walk away and quit talking to him. Heeeee!

I went to Buckle for jeans a few weeks ago and I told the sales lady to point me toward jeans with leg room. I told her I do not have sticks for legs like most jeans out there presume I should. She took me to the style I needed so that I didn't have to try on those jeans for people with 18 inch thighs. I got a cute pair of capris there that fit me nice. Sometimes just asking helps you avoid tryin

I seriously doubt he will announce it even though he said he would. I see it as a benefit if he did. It shows others a person can actually resign.

I think that Cypher in the Snow movie was not a Mormon one. I saw it in a psychology class in high school. I remember walking out thinking "why would they make me watch something so unhappy?" That was almost PG and I was only allowed to see G at the time so my sensitivity level was very high. The 10 Cow wife one: I watched that at a time I didn't even find it derogatory or insulting

The most comforting people are the ones who mourn with us when we mourn. Wise words for the sorrowful do not lessen sorrow. I like what you said about people keeping the interesting stories to themselves to protect your innocence. There are certain people in our lives we can't let in on a full level, for example you don't invite them to parties that have a large variety of different kinds of

People are usually forgiving of foibles when they know you don't know better. I know I am. I'm not easily offended unless I know it was their intent to offend me.

I think a lot of Christians don't even think about what Mormons believe in at all, and aren't that interested. I lived over 30 years knowing very little about it. That's how I got sucked in. I just thought it sounded nice and the people seemed nice.

A black colleague of mine and I got in a conversation along with another black colleague and we got in a discussion about cultural differences. To be polite I referred to them as African American. They told me to just call them black because they aren't from Africa they are Americans. I had no idea they rolled their eyes at me trying to be all PC with calling them the long name. With gay people

Yes, mainstream Christianity does believe Jesus was God the Creator incarnate made flesh to dwell among us; God himself. And that he really lived here on earth in human form though Mormons do not believe that.

Are there examples out there of other fabricated people that everyone thought were actually real yet they turned out to be made up? That would be interesting to know. I think if you hate the ripple effect a person created you could just erase them. No proof they existed so just like Mormon history, "poof". It's gone.

You can come up with good statements that apply to just about all of their responses. I rehearse them to pull out at random times, though I must admit I don't see it changes any conviction on their parts but only makes me feel I've stood my ground. The one I have in my arsenal which I have not had the opportunity to use yet is "The difference between you and me is that you lack the abili
