I am one of those bitter, can't believe that people buy into this, ex mo's that lives in the secondary promised land of Idaho. I grew up in SE Idaho, where the bacteria Mormonismcoli infected all things political, local, school, and social. But I took the cure, moved to the other side of the state, and have had an enjoyable life. But I still like to commit little acts of defiance....

1. When on business trips, and I HAVE to stay at the Marriott hotel, I always find the book of mormon and inscribe which a Sharpie for the next reader how this book is complete fiction, and full of hypocrisy, and for example the guy that owns this hotel is mormon, but one of the largest purveyors of pornography in the world.

2. I love to walk into the Deseret Books, mill around, and wait till I get asked for assistance. I say, yes...can you show me where the book "No Man Knows My History?" is?

3. At my children's schools, that have significant lds populations and there is a parent get together, I always bring my Starbucks coffee in with me, and make comments like..."I love this coffee with every fiber of my body." I also like to have chats about the social irresponsibility of having large families, and inquire if anyone knows a good female LDS lawyer.

4. If I find an obviously hot LDS MILF somewhere, usually at he bus stop, or the cupcake store, I always comment "Have the brethren reinstated section 132? If so, I am interested in signing back up."

yes, i need to build a bridge, yes, I am immature. However I sort of feel like it must have been to be in the free French movement during the Nazi occupation.

When the home teachers come (because my wife is still active), I stay and chit-chat for a few minutes and then stand up and say, "I'll leave you guys for the lesson and prayer because I don't believe in that shit."

When someone wails because so-and-so didn't continue the missionary lessons or didn't get baptized, I innocently say "Well, the church isn't for everyone."
Exploding heads ensue.

I deliberately wear two pairs of earrings when I go to sacrament meeting and am in the ward building for other occasions.

I drink coffee, green tea and have an occasional beer, although I don't care much for any alcohol anymore.

I found out that if you buy coffee from a Starbucks inside a Marriott hotel, those are actually run by Marriott, so you can't use a Starbucks gift card.

Pretty much the main things I do now when I'm around TBM's is wear 2 earrings in each ear, and often wear a cross necklace. In the summer, I also wear tank tops and shorts most of the time.

I remember when I first left the church and went to church for the last Sunday I wore a cross necklace on purpose. I still wasn't sure if I was going to remain a Christian at that point, but I did it to see if I would get any reaction out of anyone. My Sunday school teacher made a comment at the end of his lesson about why we don't wear crosses. He was looking right at me. Never went back. :)

The most defiant thing I have ever done was to pick up something from my MIL at the ward building and when she introduced me to her bishop I said "Nice to meet you, Mr. (Last Name)." Any other person I would have acknowledged their designation such as Pastor, Rabbi, etc. Bwa ha ha.

I also wear a cross necklace. It shows them I've gone rogue and keeps the Visiting Teachers at bay.

When nevermos ask me about Mormon doctrine, I tell them the truth, which is in direct violation of church protocol.

What do they say? Do they deny that they've ever heard of it? It might be fun to have it ready on your smart phone. "Oh, it's this book right here. According to this, it's the best biography of Joseph Smith available. You've heard of Joseph Smith, right? Oh, I already have Bushman's book. I want Brodie's book now."

Coffee and tea (nutritious and delicious!), wearing a shirt that's deep red when I wear a suit, getting used to profanity ( in English, some German, even a little Mandrin Chinese), and when the "church" is discussed, I use the big guns: FACTS and LOGIC.

My wife leaves her old garments in a bag on the side of the bed for "clean-up."

We also have a saying that we use whenever something works out financially in our favor "it was because of the tithing."

My daughter plays in the local LDS YW basketball league and when I attend the games I notice that every light in the building is always turned off- even in the bathrooms. I make it a point to turn all of the hallway lights on as well as the bathroom lights.

Sometimes I find hymnals lying around and write www.lds-mormon.com inside the front cover.

Wow, I don't feel alone anymore! I thought that over the years my views would mellow, but they have not. I mean, I converted to the TSCC for the purist, most spiritual reasons there is; I was dating a girl that would not let me get past second base till I was "pure" enough. I have contemplated the organization and I just don't get it. I guess with Mitt being the choice of my party the extra attention has really opened up a lot of bad memories... but still, you have to think when we watch The President and the governor debate this fall..., the governor's religion practice discrimination against the President's race till 1976. ANd this is God's church?

The people at the bookstore are on to me now, so and I switched it up for a while, asking for the book "Secrets" and then "Under the banner of heaven." but now they just sort of prevent to be nice to me and tell me I might find what I am looking for on line,

Wearing the black shirt, you need to make sure that you quot Lucifer, from the temple film, at least a couple of times, strategically timed so that the most people will overhear. Play innocent, when they call you out on it, and claim you never have been to the temple, and don't know what they are talking about, if you can get away with it.

I engage in lots of deviant sex with lots of women. Well, it is kind of regular sex with women who are not my wife. And now that I think about it, it hasn't been all that many. But alas, I am doing my best to stick it to them.

Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! If Eaglejedi had said #4 to me, I would have died laughing! That is hilarious!

I used to do rebellious acts when I was a member, especially at BYU.

Now I'm an ex-Mormon, I like to "rise above" the cult. It makes me feel superior to the rude idiots who are shunning me. I like to give to charities ANONYMOUSLY. I like to volunteer and support causes that are unpopular with Mormons. The League of Women Voters, Democratic Party, sex education, gay rights, Sierra Club, Green Peace, PETA, helping battered women and their children. I support political candidates who are running against incumbent Mormons.

I proudly say that I left the Mormon church because it is a fraud. But I add that I am happy following Christ, now. I love telling people that my polygamous ancestors were the apostates, and that the kids and I have set things right by returning to their original church.

I rebel by letting people know early on, that I am from another state, not Utah.

Most new friends and associates don't know I ever went to BYU (I'm ashamed of it) because I graduated and got other degrees from other universities. We're rabid sports fans of these other universities and other states. I mean, we put out flags and wear the tee shirts, to be obnoxious.

Instead of being anti-Mormon, I like being PRO to anything opposing.

We visited SLC last summer and I wore sleeveless tops and my cross necklace every day we were in Utah! I got lots of looks at Temple Square. I was on the lookout for garment. Lots of men had garments hanging out the bottom of their shorts. Sexy!

And when at a social function I make sure I have a bottle of beer in front of me. (one bottle lasts all night)

I also like to have a starbucks or brand name coffee cup near me at lunchtime.

Today, I'm going to go do some grocery shopping and run some errands. I'll be leaving little business sized cards everywhere I go. They Say:

EVERY THING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MORMONISM

MORMONTHINK.COM

I drop off a (100) hundred of these as I go about my errands. This is the second time i've done this.
