While my wife was pregnant, she was tested and found in the mid-20s (ng/mL) for Vitamin D. After taking 10,000 IU/day for a few months, she was up in the 50s. At the same time, I started taking 10,000 per day. A couple months ago (about 6 months at 10,000) I switched us to 5,000/day since we're both likely to be at normal levels. We live in Alaska and both don't get a lot of sunlight. I felt m

Get sunlight. The main contributing factor to SAD is a lack of Vitamin D. Take a 20-30 minute walk daily with no sunscreen (or SPF 15 if you burn easily). Take the walk with as much skin exposure as you're comfortable with (and is legal). If this isn't possible, look into Vitamin D3 supplements - 5,000 IU/day is likely sufficient. I am not a doctor. You should never take my advice without spea

I was asked to be a primary worker for Boy Scouts near the end of my belief. I told the 1st counselor I would think about it and let him know. The following Sunday I was sustained, without me ever officially accepting the job. I showed up intermittently for about three months and then just stopped going altogether. I wasn't even actively going to church at the time either. Not sure what he was th

Kinda funny... My wife has tons of the qualities that would make a good Mormon, but without the bullshit (including the sexism). I didn't realize it until we were almost married, but hey, we're basically perfect together. She was raised non-religious. I suppose my "type" didn't change at all.

I often have four drinks in the evening after work which are normally rum, vodka, various types of whiskey, or tequila. I don't get drunk and I'm almost always completely sober by bedtime. I've made it a habit to drink a tall glass of water (450 mL or 15 fl oz) along with my normal multivitamin before bed. I used to get low-level hangovers (headache, lethargy, etc.) the next day, but since I a

I'm not able to watch the video, but I thought I'd comment on the date rape drug. A friend of mine was roofied at a local bar/club. She started feeling "weird" and realized that it was not normal. She moved away from the guy to a well-populated area and told a bartender she'd thought she'd been drugged and to not let her leave. Cops arrived and escorted her out and took her to the hospi

I've been on a low-carb diet for 11 months. I'm down 50 lbs and have 50 more to go. Please remember: low carb, moderate protein (the same amount you'd be recommended to eat anyway), and fat to satiety. This combination has made me feel better than I have since I was a child and keeps me from feeling hungry all the time like traditional dieting. Although I should, I haven't incorporated exerci

That's ridiculous. Of course a man can have an erection without wanting it or sex. I cuddle my wife every night and get hard. Many nights, I'm nowhere near in the mood nor want sex at all, but it still gets hard.

The reasoning behind the price hikes are the media companies themselves. They sell the content to the cable companies at a negotiated price for an agreed-upon timeframe. When that time is up, both sides renegotiate. Since the cable company wants to keep customers by keeping the channels they watch, they bend over and take the rate hike while passing it on to you. If all the cable companies sto

The refresh rate was tuned based on the frequency of your electricity: 60 Hz for areas with 60 Hz power and 50 Hz in areas with 50 Hz power. The odd 59.997 or whatever comes from the NTSC standard that added in color. I don't remember why, but NTSC caused some kind of interference exactly at 60 Hz or something. Areas that used the PAL standard (pretty much anywhere with 50 Hz power) didn't have t

They stopped doing that because people would book themselves on the most overbooked flight possible just to give up their seat and get free fare somewhere. It's now a much smaller reward, like $100 off your next ticket or something.

My very first was when I was 10 or 11. I was in a chat room with a friend there with me. We were pretending to be older and some woman decided to send a picture. We didn't know it was a nude until we opened it - right as my mom came in the room! She wasn't thrilled, but let it go because it was obvious we weren't expecting it. I managed to save the picture my emailing it to myself. I had it for a

Most people that leave TSCC revert to their pre-mormon religion. In the cases where folks were born into it, they revert to the default position. For me, I lost faith in Christianity first, and then it became clear that Mormonism could not therefore be correct. Many converts who leave return to their old religion. I'd wager that the vast majority of those who are leaving were born into it beca

A lot of Barq's is caffeine free now. If you look right above the nutrition facts, there's a label in red that reads: "CAFFEINE FREE". It's been that way here for a while - at least for the 2 L bottles. I'm in Alaska.

I work customer tech support for an ISP. I talked to this one gentleman who saw that name pop up. He looked outside, saw a white van down the street, and insisted he was being watched. He wanted to know what to do. I told him if the FBI was watching him, they probably wouldn't be broadcasting it like that... lol

Alaska also doesn't allow sales in a grocery store. The stores can open a liquor store within the grocery store, though, so you don't really have to go to another store.

The Anchorage, Alaska temple was built in the parking lot of what used to be the stake center. It is a McTemple. Funny story: my nomo wife's friend from high school was forced to go to church. She got in a yelling match with her mother and ultimately told her that she hoped the church burnt down. It burned to a crisp that night. It was rebuilt, however, and due to the building being grandfathe

It's really not that daunting, honestly. I did mine in person with a bishop I'd never met. I walked into the chapel I was assigned to, asked where I'd find the bishop for ward X (found this online), waited for him to finish with a crying woman, then handed him my letter. If you feel like it, bring a voice recorder like I did. If he asks what it's for, state that it's for legal purposes. Su
