well done! thanks. holytheghost Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, a current member of the LDS First Presidency, recently counselled members of the church that there is a difference between raw church growth (numbers on the books), and real growth (active practicing members). This distinction requires that members continue to ask q

@ Vulcanrider, Why didn't more people pick up on this. We were given the revised version amalgamation and thought that was it. We had no reason to question those in Apostle or prophet positions as we believed and were taught that they were honest and upfront. We were kept busy with regular work jobs, plus a schwak of church callings, a schwak of kids with little time left over.

I haven't read through the entire list, sorry if this is a repeat... just to fit into the tribal community and do/be like every other couple...or to have that right to have the same status as every other couple if desired.

They use the family-feeling connection to associate it with the church/Temple feelings. I wonder what the psychological term is for that?

I went in 1981. This was during the disembowlment and decapitation oath and ritual period. with the ceremony acted out by amateur actors. You can imagine my surprise!! I thought, WHAT??? nobody told me this!! of course they couldn't tell me, it was all secret, but by that time it was too late, I'd signed on. I felt like stories I'd heard about making a deal with the devil...where the

It seems that my progress out of mormonism is tremendously layered and one layer was peeled off today as I had an epiphany thanks to watching one of his vids.... He said that mormons are vengeful and hateful. I thought *ALL* mormons are vengeful and hateful? Really? Then I thought that was perhaps a blanket statement as I did not consider myself vengeful or hateful while I was a mormon

Glad you made the comparison too. Also, almost every AlAnon family has an enabler. These are usually family members, but can often be random people who say that you must NOT denounce an abusive parent, because they are your parent and you must never cut ties with them under any circumstance. I've seen all kinds of enablers over the years. In many cases the lds group have enablers. Peopl

((To preface, I was raised in a never-mo family and as a teenager my dad started to drink alcohol to the excess. He was unhappy in his marriage and was sexually abused as a young boy so I suppose it was an escape. I must say that I was one of those depressed converts looking for a better life and mormon missionaries told me "the gospel" was it.)) I joined Al Anon, for adult chi

I forgot, Rosemary's Baby. For years I was afraid to buy antique jewellry, in an era when retro jewelery was in style. Also became afraid to have kids for fear I'd have Rosemary's baby. That movie was the best birth control right there.

I still don't like to watch scary movies. I don't like to bring too much of that emotion into my life. But... I still like the old Fright Night from 1985. I watched it when I was very TBM. Wow, you were REALLY tbm if you didn't watch Fright Night. My husband, while both of us were extremely TBM, had me watch the movie, The Evil Dead, which was from 1982 if I remember correctly.

I watched Grant Palmer's presentation. He did an exceptional job. I'm looking forward to watching it again on podcast. Content and delivery was outstanding. (at one point I got shivers from the truth he revealed and exposed.) I also watched the lady who followed him (can't recall her name). She did a great job as well. Mormons are used to the boring hypnotic drone and delivery at

""I remember walking out of that meeting knowing that women held a clearly defined second-class position in this religion."" I was 19 when I knew it for what it was. It took another 11 years to untangle the mess of denial and excuses and realize it's not what I consider healthy or right from a *true* church. It's amazing when you really get it internally and then

I agree with dogzilla. That was cold. The upside is that now you know that they don't like being around people who don't agree with their beliefs. They must have a very, very sheltered life.
