Hugs anon. My older daughter could have written your post, verbatim. Of everybody in her life, I'm thinking she only has me, and my youngest son (he's a non-believer) to talk to, with any semblance of honesty. She's indicated that she probably will never marry, not even sure if she wants to. I'll tell you what I tell her: That is okay. In fact that's wonderful. What's so fucking grea

Perhaps that's why "some" pine for the days of yore, because they fit into the one demographic that benefited from those times. Me? No thank you. I'll take today, with all its troubles and woes, any day of the week. (I do have fond memories of being a kid in rural Utah, but I believe this is primarily due to the fact that: I tend to forget the bad shit that happened to me as a

Ew . . . that's kinda gross. My stepfather sent my 18 year old daughter a link, on facebook, about why young girls should remain virgins until marriage (she was not). My sister (non-TBM), and my mother (TBM) then proceeded to tear my stepfather into shreds. I was going to jump onboard too, but the berating and belittling he received from mom and sis was enough to silence him for his remain

"Dear Mom, I recently noticed that you are wildly socially inappropriate in public settings. Additionally, I've noticed that you have some strange sexual fetish with your daughter-in-law's underwear. Wondering if Dad suffers from the same mental affliction as you. Concerned, but with love, Shodanrob"

My 2ยข. You are now going to have a different set of rules and realities and perspectives. This means the dynamics of your relationship with your husband are going to change, the dynamics with your kids are going to change, the dynamics with your friends (past and future) are going to change. Embrace these changes. They will be scary at first, but over time, I'll bet you'll be pleased wit

Dawg - you need to watch Disney's Inside Out, a cute play on useless information stored away forever in one's brain. (Plus it got a 98% on RT, not too shabby.) http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/inside_out_2015/

Frankly, I'm just disgusted by this attitude anymore - among old, white people. And I don't care how nice they are - their beliefs about Obama are repulsive, racist, nauseating. Obama weeps for the Sandy Hook children, and he's crucified by the RWNJs. Obama pulls the U.S. out of the worst economic downturn since the depression, and he's crucified by the RWNJs. And etc. By no means is

3) The land being disputed by Ammon "Nephite Warrior" Bundy: Stolen, for all intents and purposes, by white settlers, from native americans. (Meaning not only was it traditional native american land that white settlers simply homesteaded, this was land that was set aside by the u.s. government as a paiute reservation, and was then absconded, in piecemeal fashion, by white settlers - a

1) Public lands mean the public at large, not some particular subset of that public. If the majority of the public want wild lands to be kept wild, and semi-wild lands to be kept semi-wild, then by god that's how they should be kept, by the government, which is an instrument of the public. I'll never forget pulling into a small canyon at Lake Powell, looking for a mooring for our houseboat,

Here's a fly in the butter of your argument: In the south, especially the deep-south, being called "reverend" carries with it certain implicit, tacitly recognized (by society) perks, advantages, deferences, accommodations. Pretending they don't exist is like pretending that a stake president in utah county isn't afforded those same aforementioned bennies. Like it or not, they'r

Based on the limited information we have about the situation, I would guess that yes, the customer is seeking for authority over, and obsequious fawning from the OP. Without even understanding the nature of the business, and how the above would play to the good customer's advantage, it's clear he's seeking to be in the power position with those with whom he interacts with on a daily basis.

Horseshit. Sorry. I find a woman that is sexually comfortable with her own self, and one who has a varied and full sexual history, to be far more attractive / intriguing / enjoyable as a companion than a woman who has limited sexual experience, and one who has no interest in exploring her own sexuality. Just because some men have creepy fetishized notions of female virginity and sexualit

Thanks everyone - it's nice to have friends - inside and outside of the "inter-tubes". Oh, yea, and who isn't super-stoked about science & medicine during times like the one I'm going through? 100 years ago, I would have been screwed, medically-speaking, if I'd torn my rotator cuff. I'll take science over superstition any day of the week (and twice on Sundays). http://ww

Good lord freeman, give it a rest already, every relationship thread isn't about how crummy your wife and / or ex-wife did you in... (I promise, I have ex-wife stories that would make yours pale in comparison. One person doesn't a whole gender make.)

I had torn rotator cuff surgery last Friday. When not writhing in self-pitying pain, I've been wiling away the hours reading post after post here at RFM. Since I'm r-handed, I can't do a lot of typing, or game-playing, so I'm pretty much relegated to watching TV, or reading stuff on the internet, or gasp, reading books. Anyhoo, to everyone out there in RFM-land, you guys are real friends.

Personally, I love it when mormon-apologia shows up in nationally-read rags - especially when there's a comments section. Mormons' knowledge of their own history / doctrine / practices is so woefully inadequate, as to be embarrassing. And the replies to their simpleton posts by people in the know are just delicious. These types of articles do a great service to the cause of exposing the ch

I'm hailing back to another thread, where narcissism was compared to cancer by another poster. I disagreed, and said it's more akin to the bubonic plague. I'm holding to my retort. Sometimes the healthiest, and most beneficial, for the most people, turns out to be little or no contact with the narcissist. An 18 year old narcissist and an 88 year old narcissist both carry with them the s
