While doing yard work my TBM neighbor drove and we started talking about the church. She told me I need to quit reading all the anti stuff. I replied with the golden question, if it wasn't true and a fraud would she want to know? She answered no. That if the church is a fraud then she would rather continue following it and find out the in the next life. There is no hope for Mormons.

I must admit that I'm no expert on the topic but others on this board may be better able to discuss this subject. I do know that whenever Oaks speaks, he uses techniques and suggestions to help members maintain belief. He uses about every cognitive bias known to man. It is deceptive and manipulative. I have read many books on NLP, hypnosis, spatial anchoring and the power of suggestion to ache

Watching priesthood, I think TSM has lost it. He seems to go in and out of talking to adults to seem like he is speaking to 3 year olds. The only thing that seems to snap him out of it is when he is forced to look at a different camera/teleprompter.

I was thinking about the whole concept of polygamy. I know the OT talks about it and that many parts of the world practice it...but who in their right mind wants to really practice it? I mean, yes it allows a "righteous" form of sleeping around but it seems to be too much work. I wonder if the LDS polygamy doctrine was a way to cover up Joe's sowing his oats. To me he was known to &

I have found that when dealing with TBMs-they can't communicate or even carry on a conversation without bringing up the church. They can't have an "average" conversation that most nonmormons have about life. TSCC is really who they have become-and its not their fault. They were programmed to be that way.

If an organization can control a person's sex drive, sex life, etc. That organiazation has the person on a hook and can control every other aspect of their life. They can control anything...

This is only conjecture, but if you follow the theory of using the Spalding Manuscript to create the Book of Mormon then trying to sell it in Canada makes sense. In Sidney Ridgon's and JS's minds, taking it outside of the US would eliminate alot of legal problems. JS, OC and MH may have thought that if they tried to publish it here could cause some problems because of people who knew Spaulding

It is called mormandna.org. He say's he is an amatuer apologist. His claim is to not prove the LDS church is true but to show that it "can't be proven untrue". His tactics are some of the most blatent spins, mental gymnastics I have ever seen. After reading his explanations I need to take two aspirin and lay down.

I have to be careful, my TBM DW knows I read this board and gets upset when I read posts from the "haters". I have a friend that did construction on one of the new temples in Utah. During construction he was checking things in the spire of the temple and noticed a hidden room below that he never saw before on the plans. He asked the GC manager about it and was told, "you weren't

I know I may be a little behind the count, but I realized why TBMs always turn to ad hominem attacks when confronted by "anti" material. I turn to my favorite movie, The Matrix, Morpheus tells Neo that those walking around them are so reliant on the "system" they will do anything to defend it. So it is with TBMs, their whole reality is based on the church being true. If they

This is the ridiculous. If he only a peep stone why did Moroni hide them after risking his life to keep them safe. Why have witnesses to them if JS never even looked at them. Why did Moroni even take the plates back, they weren't even used. Why not "retranslate the lost pages, JS had the gold record oh I forgot he never looked at them. Joseph should have used a ouija board. There is no diffe
