Someone suggested that a best-selling title for Deseret Book would be "Free Agency, and how to enforce it." I'm in the same boat as you. Just remember, if you have a plan to get everyone out then this is a meaningless ceremony, and she is feeling the heat because not baptizing the daughter is going to raise red flags everywhere.

It only goes to BYU because they can't legally just straight-up send it to Salt Lake. Canadian tax law does allow sending money to schools, so LDS Canada ships money to BYU. LDS USA in turn has $100m more in the budget because they get to spend $100m less on BYU. The intent of the law was really for charities funding third-world schools, but what can you do?

It's fake, produced by one of those wanna be Onion websites focused on the LDS niche.

After spending a whole day seeing billboards for it we had to stop, there was no option.

All things being equal, the "Prince of Peace" apparently murdered hundreds of thousands of people and destroyed entire cities, just to make an entrance.

I'm as disillusioned as the rest with the church, but come one, a retail store with a black friday sale? Heathens!

Indeed it is, but I didn't need an angel. ;) Simple at looking at this chart, seeing that Joseph F. Smith picked up the initial to distinguish from JS, and then everyone else did it because it sounded cooler: https://www.lds.org/churchhistory/presidents/leaders.jsp

The gesture completely invalidated that theory, if he was implying the application of mortar he would make for a terrible mason.

Well I don't anymore, and my disaffection was triggered by this. Who knows how many other Mormons are no longer TBM as a result.

Not with tithing, that came easy, but when I went to take my first drink my hand literally shook. The key is to recognize that it's the programming and nothing more. You have been programmed to fear not giving money to the Morg. But ask yourself this: if there really is a loving God, would he burn people for not giving him enough money?

In the works before the lawsuit, but before *awareness* of the lawsuit? It may be a weak defense, but as strong as they are willing to make IMO.

My simpler explanation: TSCC saw that someday one of the lawsuits would succeed on the basis of the church misleading their members. The AnointedOne lawsuit showed them the risk was high, so they publish the essays in plain sight, giving them an ideal defense.

I was there this summer. The Kirtland LDS visitor's centre is for the historical village with some restored/replicated buildings, about a 5-8 minute drive from the temple, which is definitely run by the RLDS/CoC. One thing of interest to me is that (at least this summer) there's a good cross-pollination between the two. We arrived at the LDS visitor's center just before lunch, and were inform

Seriously people, this kind of conspiracy theory does not help our cause, if someone came in who was questioning and saw this thread they would associate ex-mormons with conspiracy theorists. If there is a church-wide conspiracy to purge information from the resource centers then it was passed through back-channels. There is no official notice in the last year mentioning anything about cleanin

We had a book a crackpot High Priest had added to the library that laid out how the book of Mormon lands were Baja California, I see that as simply correlation at work, removing resources that are not needed for teaching classes, which is what the resource centre is there to supply. I'm not trying to declare the merits of correlation, just pointing out that this aligns with it. The resource

Guys, perhaps I should share something else to make my perspective more clear, we purged our library recently while I was in the bishopric. You know how we disposed of everything? By putting it on a few folding tables in the gym for a couple of weeks with "TAKE ME" signs. For all your talk of book burning, hunting down, and murders, I'm starting to think we did it wrong. There
