I have been known to start sing "Let us oft speak kind words to each other" when my family starts bickering. My kids totally don't get it, but my dh laughs. Many of the hymns are traditional classical pieces though, and I do enjoy the music.

My wedding took place in a camp ground. It was beautiful, fun, and very inexpensive. We did cupcakes and invited immediate family only. Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to get married outside. Don't have a wedding for the gifts though, get a second job instead.

And she was promised a season of good health. Considering a lot of her health issues are in her mind, that might actually work.

My mom was just promised last week in her "setting apart" that if she served dutifully she'd be with all of her children in the celestial kingdom.

My sis and I were talking last night. She's inactive, but has been going lately since her son wants to go. Then she accused me of being just like out parents who made us go, by not allowing mine to go (if they ever wanted to go, they're nevermo, I left years before they were born.) Thoughts?

I think prayer is a good form of meditation, and there are some great benefits to it. There's a book called how to pray without talking to God I read a while ago.

When my oldest asks questions, I usually answer them with questions. When she asked if there's a god, I asked her what she thought. I told her about many of the different views out there, and told her she can decide what she wants to believe since no one really knows for sure. She knows and loves a lot of mormons, so the mormon view is something she knows a bit about. She's even been to church

I just want to make it clear that I've got nothing against being a SAHM or other SAHMs. My issue is that I've never had ambition to do anything besides this. This time will end at some point, and I will need to work again at some point. It's a challenge financially for me not to be working. We're very frugal though, so we make it work.

This is a response to this thread from a couple of days ago: Why do women love this church so much?? http://exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?2,1431053,1431278#msg-1431278 CA girl said something that has had me thinking for days. I've tried a couple of times to get into it, but I haven't gotten past the first few episodes. Maybe I should give it another shot.

A friend of mine posted on his wall about it, and naturally all of the commenters had already heard about it. This was my response: I know I was shocked when I found out about all of his wives. I was told he didn't practice polygamy, and I certainly didn't think to ask about polyandry! To think JS would send men off on missions and then marry their wives. And he'd promise eternal salvation to

Thanks so much for all your feedback. It has helped me put it all in perspective and figure out what's really bothering me. I think I still have issues with religious figures telling me what to do and controlling my life. Because Christmas is a religious holiday to some extent, I kinda blame religion for all of the obligations that go along with the holiday. I also have this expectation. I also e

Without a bit of research I decided to leave tscc when I realized I didn't believe in God. About 10 years later I got curious and gooogled the temple ceremony. My testimony of the falseness of Mormonism gets stronger the more I learn.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I've been there, but my attorney was pretty average so I can't make any recommendations

I really hate the holidays. It's a complicated issue, and not just a mormon thing, so I hope I'm not too off topic. The first reason is that because I have joint custody of my oldest, holidays have been a source of tension and stress ever since I separated from her father. Whether the stress is my mom making a big deal out of the fact I don't have her for that particular holiday, or him trying to

My kids let me sleep in today. We later met some friends for a walk in the park, and then I came home and made brunch. My dh usually works on Sundays, but he has the afternoon off, so I plan to work on a Solstice gift for my oldest.

I'm so sorry to those of you who have lost children. I just can't imagine. I had no idea stillborn children aren't included in family history though. I'm just shocked and devastated for a family member whose baby was stillborn. That's just heartless.

A few months ago my MIL who is on a poor ward service mission visited a home with an infestation. She brought one home, but thanks to my experience with them a few years back (picked them up in a dressing room, I think, and it was a horrible couple of weeks!), she was able to recognize the bites quickly and get rid of them within a couple of days. Even though she's been working with county eme

When I left the TSCC I was 18. I lost most of my friends and my family shunned me. That was really hard, but I quickly made new friends. Ex-LDS friends are essential because they truly understand what you're going through--especially if you grew up in Utah like I did. Because my reason for leaving was because I realized I didn't believe in God, I actually didn't do any research online until on

I remember back in my TBM days everyone would have some bit of financial luck, and then give the credit to tithing. Since I left 16 years ago, I still have these moments occasion--like this morning. I was really wanting a latte, but I didn't feel like I could justify the expense. I just happened to find a full punchcard in my wallet though, so it looks like that latte is going to happen! Does

I had a chat with my dad last night. I asked what was expected of them for this mission, and he honestly didn't know. I told them it was perfectly reasonable to find out all the details before accepting, and he agreed but felt weird ably getting details. Then I joked that giving all the information up front isn't the way the organization operates and he laughed. We talked a bit about building rel
