I'm wondering if reducing the time would make it easier to remember to get the work done? It's not like everyone is setting a year out reminder for each name. Life gets busy. I'm betting this might increase the numbers just by a smidge for those of us with mom brain that forget our own names at times...

I'm here to say that the Lehi one needed to be shut down long ago. COVID was probably the catalyst for their downfall but they were severely understaffed and as such could not keep up the quality of service or cleanliness standards expected of a chain store. It was a health hazard to order there, you were playing "did I get everything" roulette every time you ordered and they were out o

Elder refers to missionaries or senior members of the clergy, but does not give them legal license to wed people. It's a silly designation to make them sound more dignified I guess. I'm a woman so I'm not sure of the hierarchy there. I was married in a temple and I don't remember the title of the person who did it, but we got a legal marriage certificate out of the ceremony. Then my bishop did a

Mesa/Gilbert native, living in Utah county now. You are in good hands on this board. I left after learning of John Dehlin, reading the CES letter and Rough Stone Rolling, and then a mountain of other things like Wife No 19. You're in for a roller coaster but you need to trust yourself, your intuition, and the scientific search for truth! It will be ok! Several of my good friends from the same are

A relative of mine went to UK on his mission after much fanfare. He returned about 6 months later due to depression and had stopped eating. The family quietly received him back home. I didn't hear a lot about what had happened but am glad they didn't make him stay out as his mental health was clearly declining severely. I internally weep for each new missionary announcement from family or neighbo

Name it after Ann Eliza Young, writer of Wife no. 19, one of the most damning, interesting books on Young's time at the helm I've ever read. She's a freaking hero!!

I highly recommend the book "Being Mortal" by Atul Gawande on this subject. After watching my grandmother's long slow decline and learning a lot about the horrific state of the nursing home industry, this book definitely resonated with me. Why do we insist our love ones cling to life when they clearly just want to be done? Their quality of life will just get worse and worse. We talk abo

Just found this on a TBM's IG story How nice of them to ask about how they can improve the wear and care of their garments! It's almost as if God didn't design them himself!!

This sounds like the one she was talking about. Sounds like a lot of fun, but also a lot of work to put together. The youth of our day just weren't "worthy" enough to participate I guess!

Once upon a time, around 2006, in a Mesa singles ward... My friend and I went to a Sunday Devotional at the stake center. It was a great chance to scope out hotties and also get some nice spiritual enlightenment meant just for our chosen generation. It began like any other; songs, prayers, the typical opening exercises. Then our main speaker was introduced. She was an older woman, and she r

My grandpa has been on a very long slow decline and is in his last week. I visited last week and heard a little bit of the kool aid talk from my aunts but that was more about the political climate. I'm positive that when I go back over there, whether I make it before or after grandpa goes, grandma (who told me one Thanksgiving she wanted to deck me for leaving the church) is going to take this op

I subscribe to the idea of friends first, lovers later. Approach an attractive person the same way you would approach a potential friend and get to know them. Is that really so hard for some people to grasp? Lol!

There's always UVU ;D I think that school capitalizes off the kids who couldn't make it into BYU. They're smart. Give us your huddled masses who could not get that ecclesiastical (sp? That is the craziest word I've ever typed on my phone!) endorsement and we'll learn 'em up real good and won't even make them shave their beards!

I just had four boys on my porch in the rain deliver a soaking wet flyer. It is very wordy but the gist is that instead of the flag fundraiser, they're holding a dinner/bake sale/auction with a suggested donation per plate. "Your donations are sacred and will be used to pay for our youth activities this year. The activities are designed to help the youth become better members of our commu

It's so crazy to preach humility and be asking everyone to be in the image of Christ... And shoot for a mansion in heaven!! The cogdis of this always drove me up a wall.

One of the things that really made me think was in Rough Stone Rolling when JS made an army march out and not only did they fail their mission but a ton of them died horribly from like dysentery on the way back. I might have that all wrong but that screamed "what kind of prophet sucks that badly that people had to die for no reason?"

Can confirm as I have seen the thinkers from my family and friends get happily out! The zealots are all that's in (or the ones still in because they saw how Grandma talked behind my back and are waiting for her to go all the way of the earth!)

I'm interested to see how difficult it will be in the coming years to call people to higher positions. With less people being active and "perfect", they are going to have to scrape the more humble dregs for general authority positions. Maybe they'll have to shrink the 70s to a more manageable number haha.

He missed a great opportunity to say "answers are not the answer." Because we know how much Mormons love their memorable phrases XD (just saw that this was already basically said... Sorry to repeat haha)

Mine said I would have sons and daughters. I imagine all females received the same "blessing" of reproductive suggestion. Two sons and this womb is closed for business lol!! They also said I would have a vocation that would serve many... But I thought I was supposed to be home doing what good Mormon girls do??

If you're brave enough, there are area mom groups online that you can meet up with in person. My current mom friends are people that happened to be married to my husband's coworkers and also happened to be out of the church so we have plenty in common, on top of artistic interests and other things. It's a little harder to be friends with people in my neighborhood as we are one of maybe two famili

As a creative introvert I struggle with this because I can't act on my creative motivational bursts when they strike. My needs are on the back burner of the entire household. I'm always doing something for someone else and get tiny windows for self care. The only thing that keeps me going is knowing that my two kids will be at school most of the day within a couple years and then the empty house
