Faithful teenagers could get: 1) Special priesthood levels, with new secret ceremonies 2) Relaxed dating restrictions (could be linked to the above- get the cute girls to wash the boys' feet?) 3) Extra-special opportunities to pay higher tithing rates Just some thoughts.

It makes perfect sense when you understand what God is. God is not a self-existent, objective reality. God is each person's projection of their own individual world view. So obviously God is going to want them to succeed in life. Just like God amazingly agrees with them on everything.

In the sixties, we all "knew" that the Black Panthers had maps indicating every Mormon home so they could rob us of our food storage.

That is the great question. All I can surmise is millions of years of evolution that have produced the kind of brains we have.

I sometimes have fantasies about going back in time. If I did, people would expect me to tell them that the future was all Jetsons and Tomorrow-land. It would be so heartbreaking to inform them that all those dreams keep getting dragged down by the worst of humanity's biological impulses.

I refer you to "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" by Joseph Campbell and "The Myth of the Birth of the Hero" by Otto Rank, and all the sources they used and referenced. These authors- and hundreds of others- ask the next question: what was the model for the story of Horus? And the model for that model? and so on. What they deduced is that the ultimate source of our myths lies no

Increased property values mean something very different for the actual homeowners. The excellent folks in Salt Lake are all business developers. They see the world in terms of what they can suck out of it. For this group, increased property values are what it is all about. They live their whole lives based on returns on investments, and they see houses as just another commodity like soybean fu

Things like this bother me. They imply that most Mormons (or whoever at the time) are really hypocrites. That nobody in the organization is really, truly sincere. We all know that that is absolutely not the case. Yes, it happens, but the vast majority of LDS members are trying to live good moral lives. A better expose would be to investigate the mental toll that Mormonism takes on all its memb

The questions differ based on the religious background you claim. If you say you are an atheist, they ask about your familiarity with the book. If you say you are some variety of Mormon, they ask about the strength of your testimony.

And the Q-15 will make damn sure it is the Mormon Olympics this time. They will build all the dorm buildings and charge exorbitant fees. They will make sure every guide and helper is a temple recommend holding ward missionary. They will be part of every meeting, they will give the officials special temple tours followed by lavish meals at tithe-payers' expense. And the worst part is that the n

They expelled all the theologians and replaced them with CEOs. That was when it all started. The old church had Talmadge and B. H. Roberts and Orson Pratt and the various Joseph Fielding Smiths and McConkie. You really knew where4 the church stood on the issues. The Church (TM) doesn't even care any more. And that, of course, is one main reason most of us found our way here.

Why not? Nowhere in the US Constitution does it say that the privilege is restricted to one entity. It's not like it's copyrighted or trademarked. Then watch the fireworks. And while we're at it, somebody besides the Catholics needs to start generating saints. Again- they don't have a legal monopoly on it.

What they own up to and what they really "believe" are two very different things. You will never hear the leaders say much of anything in GC any more. But 99.999% of practicing Mormons still believe all those bizarre things and talk about them openly with other Mormons. Those notions are what distinguish Mormonism from any other religious group so they are held as essential.

"Many GAs have spoken against intellectualism" And yet they rely on it. When they say "intellectuals", they really mean "critics". They absolutely require apologists as buffers between themselves and the rank and file members. The apologists supply the answers that the GAs are unable to provide. Then the members are satisfied and the GAs get to keep their job

"Those horny returned missionaries should go online and seek for women who are also looking for one night stands instead of taking a virgin LDS am to temple grounds and grooming them" But rape isn't about sex. Rape is about the power dynamic. IMO.
