One about the sexual abuse epidemic, and the next about reduction in church unit sizes. Maybe there's some sort of cause-and-effect going on here? Just a thought. Dear SCMC: maybe wake up to the real world? Just a suggestion.

Sort of. Homophobia is complex, of course. Many straight people find homosexuality threatening to their self-confidence, so they make their charter texts say what they want them to say. That has been going on for way longer than 1946.

Circular logic. If you define God as "that which explains everything", then don't be surprised if God ends up explaining everything.

I wish them luck. However, this is about as effective as kindly asking the Sacklers to apologize for Oxycontin.

They are trying to impress the Q-15 with their righteousness. I am not kidding.

No. They are trying to pass as whatever works to keep the money rolling in. If the USA suddenly turned Buddhist, then the LDS church would within days always have been aligned with the teachings of the Buddha. The Sacred Grove would within minutes be transformed into Joseph Smith's Enlightenment Tree. Tithing would morph into divesting yourself of earthly attachments. And the money would keep

My conversations with family and many old friends are usually pretty short these days. Hardly anything in common.

Europe had a horrible experience with unimaginable horrors due to religious wars and the failure of God to intervene in the most terrible situations. That is the main reason they got sick of religion.

Next time for sure! God was just testing/alerting/prepping us, right? No way would God tell us something that wasn't true! (unless he really wanted to weed out the lukewarm, in which case he would mislead us to distract the infidels. Or something).

> Bishops get zero training No. Bishops believe they are above the law. We need to stop mollycoddling the system. IMO.

IF JESUS REALLY DID TURN WATER INTO WINE HE WOULD HAVE BEEN THE MOST FAMOUS PERSON IN THE WHOLE ROMAN EMPIRE. BUT NOTHING. ZERO, ZIP, NADA. MAYBE THERE'S A CLUE IN THERE SOMEWHERE. I'll be quiet now.

I do indeed remember Shaklee. Our ward (St. Louis, 1960s) had several families who were distributors. They roped the Scouts in to serve as salespeople to earn a merit badge. I believe the company is still doing business. It is such a classic case of trying to convince others that you, as a marketer, know more about medicine and biochemistry and physiology than all those silly folks who actuall

It is very easy to find out if your friend is correct. Get a biochemistry textbook. And the internet doesn't count here because there is no truth filter. He may be right. And yes, sunlight is certainly part of the vitamin D production sequence. But to repeat my main point: the (real) medical establishment has very reliable methods of assessing your magnesium levels. I teach people how to do those

I think it safe to say that most contributors to this board have a less than positive view of the dietary supplement industry. They are almost always linked to a MLM, which only adds to their anomie. I wanted to jump in and explain the truth behind vitamins and other biochemicals that promoters claim will fix everything in your life, even if nothing is wrong to begin with. My credentials include

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Yes, the Mormon church relies on all those busybodies who wear down the carpet to the bishop's office after every SS lesson. Welcome to our world.

A large part of it ( I was there, in the sixties) is the right to actually be able to vote. Bigots rabbit on endlessly about "states' rights". What they leave unspoken is the fact that they do everything in their power- up to and including outright murder- to make sure that nobody but the people they like actually are allowed to be part of the election process. The list is by definition

Inside the temples, of course, flamboyance is instantly squashed by the sweet spiritual prison matrons in the bride rooms. But I would love to hear the stories.

Absolutely it does. There hasn't been anything this exciting in decades. The alternative is a dull and boring sameness to their lives. They cannot survive on serenity.

The leader of a sustainability initiative ought to be some guy named Russell M. Nelson. Period, full stop. It's obvious to anybody with half a brain that the whole thing is a PR stunt. That's the only thing the Mormon church knows how to do. Anything more would require the Q-15 to get off their arses and actually do something. But that requires effort. And that is totally forbidden by the rule

All of religion is God amazingly telling his followers that the rules don't really apply to them.
