Why did she dump water all over him? Was he snarling at her when she came near? I'm with everybody else--leave with your pooch.

What concerns me is that if this woman is saying such a thing at work, she is probably saying it to her child at home. Verbal abuse of a child is against the law in Utah and reportable to DCFS and in Utah everyone is a mandated reporter, not just the usual professionals. DCFS staff are no doubt aware of the high rate of suicide among that boy's age group and of the danger he's in emotionally.

I'm with Dark Princess on this one. No hiding things, but no flaunting either. If you consider what you do as within ethical and moral bounds, then own it and live it without apology. Others do seem to adapt! It's the same with leading a spouse out of the morg. Show your MIL that you are the best SIL ever and a prize catch for her daughter. Then the beer will be nothing much.

Oh, JBug! This is very exciting! I agree with the others who say do nothing. Let the information percolate however long it has to. The process has begun. There is no way to unknow something. It has been such a long term conflict between the two of you that probably the slightest encouragement from you might be taken as pushing. Then he resists. So, nothing...

I found this link in the comments section of the review on zamorah.wordpress found above: August 14, 2013 at 9:25 pm Just FYI: The new Satan is played by the “dad” actor in the ‘stop whooping cough’ commercial… http://stopwhoopingcough.org/. Reply ldsrevelations says: August 15, 2013 at 3:44 pm Isn’t that the guy from Saints and Soldiers? Corbin Allred? Reply Ma

Hi Tristan. I noticed you've deleted your posts, but I did catch the reply that said you're not suicidal. I'm relieved to hear it. You may never see this. But if you do check back on this post, I wanted to recommend a book called Voice Therapy by Robert Firestone. It's not a pop psych book, but a book laying out the concept of the harsh down-rating voice we carry in our heads. The book explai

Thanks for the reply! Just a suggestion for the weekend: for the next three or four days, eliminate any and all sarcasm (it's actually a put down in the guise of a joke and subtly hurtful). Also, refuse to defend yourself; if the criticism is true, admit it. If it's not, you could say, "What's going on that you would say that?" Don't concern yourself with how she behaves; focus on yo

To answer your question about where to go for information. I suggest you read the books by Dr. John Gottman, especially the Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work and 10 Lessons to Transform Your Marriage. This information is from empirical data about what keeps a relationship together and what breaks it apart. What you have described to me is how your girlfriend is by turns critical and de

I foresee a new tradition developing of missionary farewell showers at which sherbet punch and cake is served, fun church trivia games are played, and, of course, gifts are given to the newly-called mishies to set them up in their exciting new home in Boise or Tegucigalpa. They can get registered at all the big box stores, so that everything coordinates.

This is what happens when plaintiffs agree to settle a lawsuit for an undisclosed large sum of money rather than carry on the lawsuit to force the morg to reveal its finances. I can understand how a person would take the money and go on with their lives, especially if it's more than they could hope to earn in a few lifetimes and sets their children up. Someday, someone will be willing to go al

I don't read a word of Swedish, but one of the commenters on the Facebook link seems to have likened it to Skull and Bones for Mormons. ;) And I also want to know why the dress code was only "carefully" considered instead of "prayerfully" considered. It's such a momentous decision.

And why is the central corporation so secretive about all the money? I bet she has no clue about how much of her tithing, etc. is drained from her neighborhood and sucked into the black hole of the SLC morg.

Claiming that abuse is only joking around is standard for abusers and bullies: "Just kidding!" You're too sensitive." "You have no sense of humor." The victim gets blamed once again. Call her on it if she says she's only joking. It's a sorry excuse for trying to put somebody down, no matter how old or how "righteous" the bully is.

You could order a "Tanqueray and tonic." I personally would add "with a twist of lime." "Cause I like it that way. This would be a before dinner drink, but it may be a couple of ounces of gin and that may be more than you want unless you're sitting at home in your own backyard. I'm thinking you could just sip the same glass of wine through cocktails and dinner, i

Anon4this, being verbally abused can make a person feel like they are crazy, because you're getting a double message: I love you and I can also treat you like sh*t. It helps greatly to see the situation accurately and call it for what it is. In your wife's verbal abuse and desire to control, she has blamed you over and over again. She may have even labeled you as crazy, and now you're actually

When you think about it, this is just another silly and inaccurate little motto, like the football coach saying "get out there and give 110%." How does one do this? Go out on the field, play so hard you die and then let your body be tossed around for defensive plays? Nothing grows but weeds without hard, hard work? Nonsense. All kinds of plants grow together, ones you want and ones y
