I grew up in Holladay just up from the Cotton Bottom bar. My folks moved there in 1970 when I was seven. Delivered prescriptions for Holladay pharmacy as a teenager. My folks still live in the area so I wander around the area from time to time. I too dislike the new Holladay facelift. And how sad was it when Geppettos Pizza closed! Good times!

How about a shot every time they show a non-white person in the Mo-Tab choir or audience? Even my TBM parents laugh how LD$ Inc. tries to depict diversity during conference and in the Ensign.

Don't forget the magic breast plate to go with the magic spectacles. Growing in the 60's and 70's sunday school and primary would show the picture of ol' Joe wearing his glasses and breastplate. It couldn't have been stranger.

The documentary is on CBSSports Network at 8:30 pm (MT). The story is based on 14 Wyoming players who were dismissed from the team because they wanted to wear black armbands to protest racist LD$ Inc. and BYU. I've read a few very positive reviews. Not surprising, LD$ Inc. wouldn't comment on the documentary. Once again, let's brush the racist past under the rug.

A bishop I had growing up in Holladay, Utah. He was a business professor at BYU and a huge ass. Even my TBM father thought he was blow hard who exaggerated stories and thought the devil was behind every rock. In 1981, I was 19 and had already made my decision to not go on a mission. He marched down to my house one day with my completed mission papers in hand. When I told him I wouldn't s

I haven't lived in SLC for many years but I do visit family at least annually. I was downtown for a couple of days for the Winter Outdoor Retailer Show. It really feels like a metropolitan city. The Eccles Theater is beautiful and there are a bunch of cool bars on Main Street. Also, I'm amazed at the number of great ethnic restaurants in the city. On the other hand, I don't know how

I doubt Jesus is coming in 2017 if LD$ Inc. is still selling 99 year leases on City Creek condos. Jesus would provide them with a revelation if it were anytime sooner.

I don't believe Robert Kirby really cares if he takes digs at LD$ Inc. and/or exmormons. In fact, I get the feeling he really enjoys it. I'm sure he'd get a kick out of the comments on this thread.

It's currently minus 12 and minus 25 wind chill in Bozeman. It's pretty common to have extension chords from the house to the car. Most folks who park outside have an electric connection to the engine block.

There was a young woman who also converted to Mormonism after seeing the play. The Deseret News and KSL all did faith promoting stories about her. A year later, she was no longer affiliated with Mormonism. This guy will hopefully come to his senses.

I have to go with the Stones. Their sound was edgier and it made me feel that way. The Beatles were wonderful musicians but I hated the winy melodies. I still enjoy the Stones, but thank goodness for the Dead. The miracle I needed.

Both Utah and Montana share small town pride where folks help each other, Friday night is reserved for high school football and ranchers meeting at the local café for breakfast. Town gossip is the same. We also share a crazy state legislature. Utah has its nut job Mormons and Montana has its neo-conservative Baptists and born again Christians. What we don't have are many Mormons wi

My Montana friend, you have truly dodged a bullet. Even if your ex doesn't go back to the cult, there is a high likelihood his parents would have tried to brainwash your children into LD$ Inc. A number of RFM posters have vented over grandparents feeling their role is to save the grandchildren if they can't save their own children. As another poster said, get out and enjoy the beautiful

How priceless that the new temple is in a historic district that includes the Masonic Temple. Perhaps they can swap green aprons and secret handshakes.

Danny, Unbelievably funny! I have three nephews who are all return missionaries. I love them dearly, but can't believe how brainwashed they are when they come home. They are so desperate to baptize people. In six years of total service they cumulatively baptized one person who was a recent immigrant from Africa. I'm sure they saw you as a "golden contact" who actually had a job,

I remember the shock of John Goodman picking him up from his wheelchair as if he were faking being needing the chair. It was unbelievably uncomfortable but at the same time, I was laughing my ass off.

Back in 1980 a friend of mine dated Jim McMahan, the famous BYU and NFL quarterback. She said there were a bunch of football "groupies" that hung around the team. Most of them didn't go to BYU but they apparently loved going to hang out with the players who partied. Not hookers, but willing to "play ball."

You can also go to LD$ Inc. owned Deseret Land and Livestock and spend $5,000 to shoot an elk. Much of the ranch is managed by volunteer missionaries.

There will always be vulnerable people who will fall for the love bombing and fake emotion. The local ward youth befriended our neighbor's son, who was just turning 16 and was having difficulty making friends in a new high school. The missionaries gave him the lessons and in two months he was baptized. A year later, he's found a new group of non-Mormon friends and a girl friend who will sud

Obviously I live in Montana, but I've seen Jeff Bridges on the street a couple of times. He lives around Bozeman much of the year. Lebowski is my favorite movie. Hence the "dude".

For me, it has to be Cleon Skousen. He had a huge ego and was absolutely crazy. Much of the ultra conservative movement in LD$ Inc. started with his intellectual (or lack of) bullying. There are still many older Mormons who still worship neon Cleon.

I remember very well the wife and children jumping or being thrown off the building. When I lived in SLC, I could not drive down West Temple and not think about that horrible act.

Vitamin D is big in Montana during the winter. One of the first things I tell new transplants is to consider take it throughout the winter. The days are really short and cold so everyone stays inside. I feel like it helps during the dreary days....and if that doesn't work I fortify it with Jack Daniels.
