I could see Jesus wearing Adidas Superstar shoes with no laces like Run DMC. Or maybe a pair of black/red original Air Jordans. He'd be super cool with all the kids.

Mormon Row was a group of historic cabins just outside of Jackson Hole, Wyoming settled by pioneers. There are signs everywhere and they promote it as a tourist destination. Another favorite is Mormon Road, a small road just outside of Whitehall, Montana. I often wonder if they banished the Mormons to live outside of town. That would be quite an insult if you've ever spent time in Whiteh

About a year ago, a husky breeder (later deemed illegal breeding operation) released all his dogs into the national forest outside of Whitefish. A few days later, a local woman shot one of the dogs thinking it was a wolf. She skinned the dog and posted it on social media to "impress her boyfriend she could shoot and skin a wolf."

The Christmas Story is my favorite Christmas movie. I still watch it every year. The scene when the father opens the "leg lamp" is priceless.

We don't need scientific facts to know that Joseph Smith knew all along about people who lived on the moon. “The inhabitants of the moon are more of a uniform size than the inhabitants of the earth, being about 6 feet in height. They dress very much like the Quaker style and are quite general in style or the one fashion of dress. They live to be very old; coming generally, near a thousand

As a fellow boomer, I agree the continued passing of the generation will continue to reduce church/temple attendance as well as tithing contributions. Over the short term (next 10 years), I believe the church will be the beneficiary of estate gifts from believing boomers who know it will buy them a spot in the celestial kingdom. I've seen this with my parents and know of many of my friend

I didn't realize they were Mormons when the story recently broke. Montana has experienced an increase in murder/suicides that seemed to ramp up with Covid. My gut says she discovered the good doctor was making house calls for other services. Perhaps he was visiting the strip club that is just up the street. Actually, it's not far from the reservoir where she killed herself from the mu

Yellowstone National Park is full of magic mushrooms due to the 6,000 plus bison that roam the Park. They are especially common in the Northeast portion in the Lamar Valley where 3,000 to 4,000 congregate to mate in late June (now) and stay through August. I spend a number of days fly fishing the Northeast section of Yellowstone and always chuckle when I run across mushroom pickers since t

Mormon artist Arnold Frieberg was in my childhood ward in the early 70s. He once showed up at fast and testimony meeting dressed as a Canadian Mounty (he was obsessed with Canadian Mountys and had many paintings that included or featured them). It was shocking enough because Arnold seldom came to church. He even had a sword that was given to him by a senior Canadian official. He walked in dur

Gas was around 70 cents a gallon in 1978 when my parents let me use the family Chrysler Cordoba when I was 16. My sister and I would laugh at the television commercial for the car with Ricardo Motalban and the car's "fine corinthian leather".

I have worked in non-profit all my life and currently manage a conservation organization. Unfortunately, you will need to contact each charity to get them to stop mailing or only mail a certain time of year. They should have sophisticated systems to set up a mail schedule or to cancel. I find solicitation mailings with calendars, labels, etc. to be very annoying. We do not provide "

I'm not surprised Montana leads the list for hate groups per capita. The state's political make-up was already complicated and added another level during the Trump era. The most populated towns tend to lean democrat. This would include Helena, Missoula and Bozeman (my hometown). Until recently, Montana had historically had democrat governors and its two state senators were democrats for a

A major reasons Mormons stay is a fear they will miss out on getting selected to the Mormon Space Daddy's highest level when they kick the bucket. Families are forever was drilled into my head in primary in the 60's and 70s. Almost us with family members who are still TBMs have heard, "there will be an empty seat at the family table in the celestial kingdom if you stray." My exp

I was recently speaking with a close friend who works with a number of Millenial and and Generation X active Mormon males at a Utah professional office. He's mentioned on a number of occasions how obsessed they are with owning guns and making sure their conceled weapons permits work in other states. They are only interested in hand guns and AK47 type rifles. I'm not against owning firearms

I lived in Helena, Montana for five years and only met one Mormon family so I was surprised to see the announcement. Helena has a huge Catholic presence and a beautiful cathederal. But I can see why they chose Helena for a mctemple because of its location to other population centers like Missoula, Great Falls and Bozeman. Like many other recently announce temples I wouldn't anticipate g

A majority of the "older man, younger second wife" seem to be men who can afford to pay for a brood of kids and start again. In Bozeman (Bozeangeles), there are lots of expensive second homes in the area. My wife and I joke about all the old men and trophy wives walking down Main Steet.
