My aunt and uncle are on a senior mission for their stake in the heart of the Utah. They showed up at my nephews wedding wearing their missionary badges, which was very strange. I remember the Park City genealogy center was part of LD$ Inc.'s strategy to attract investigators during the 2002 Olympics. Just like Mitt's "Mormon moment" presidential run where LD$ Inc. thought it could market itself as a religion and not a cult, the genealogy center went away. Going to the annual Miller ski movie in the 70s and 80s brings back great memories. They seemed to hit Salt Lake City just prior to the Labor Day ski sales at Wolfe's Sporting Goods stores. I agree. LD$ Inc. will always bring in proven white men, over 65, who have always climbed the typical GA ladder. Bishop, stake president, mission president, 70 then BAM, a GA. Throw in a good Mo stock last name. There is too much risk for a younger GA to realize the truth and actually jump ship. I feel like it's one of the reasons we'll never see a GA leave LD$ Inc.
