When I was a missionary, some members had to be re-baptized because their membership records were lost. This even happened to the branch president's own son (Even though there were plenty of witnesses to the baptism because it was a small close community). This creates an interesting theological loophole of Mormon thinking. He supposedly had the priesthood already but had to be re-baptized due to

Which one? I don't think we would all have the same Mother in Heaven. I mean there have been billions of people on earth. How could a single Mother in Heaven possibly accomplish that? I think this is where the doctrine of polygamy fits in. Our Heavenly Mothers must stay humble and obey their husband.

It is a very silly story. To think that a drunkard like Laban was the only person in town with a copy of the scriptures is absurd. God commands Nephi to kill a drunk unconscious Laban passed out in the street who is defenseless and has not committed a serious offense. God then commands Nephi to steal Laban's property (The Brass Plates) and then sail to the Americas with them. The blood is a huge

The active membership peaked in 1995 with 5.2 million active members. The active membership of the LDS Church flat-lined in 1997 at 4.5 million. In the past 17 years they have managed to bring that up to 4.8 million. That is a growth rate of 48 active members a day. This is bad news for the LDS considering that the active members are now mostly kids who don't have a choice in the matter and will

@Chicken N. Backpacks Right, the original 1830 publication of the Book of Mormon had horrible grammar. They had to correct that in later editions to give it credibility. People used to joke about it by saying things like if God wanted to give us new scripture he could have at least used proper grammar. The chapters copied from the King James are word for word so they have a sense of credibility

My theory is that the main reason why Joseph Smith with the help of others wrote the Book of Mormon in King James English was because he copied entire chapters word for word from the King James Bible. It would appear very strange if the other chapter were in 1800s English while a few chapters were in King James English. I think it was a ploy to hide his plagiarism of the King James Bible. Plus Jo

The point is that Mormons are very hypocritical. They claim that their communities are so wholesome but that (like most things in the LDS Church) is just a thin veneer.

This is why polygamy is so popular in Utah. Joseph Smith was an adulterer and so was Brigham Young. They just made their adultery Gospel.

We don't know how they did it because there aren't any preserved writings about it but we do know how they could have done it. For example they could add a wood frame (or other more durable material) to the stone to make it a wheel and roll it to their destination. They could then remove the frame when the stone was in place.

KSL went from CBS to NBC in 1995. KSL also owns Cozi-TV and this tv. It was news to me because I don't live in Utah. I found a statement online that says their ratings slumped after abandoning actual reporting for LDS Church propaganda. "According to media observers, channel 5's ratings slumped after Mark Wiles became president of Deseret Management Corporation, the for-profit arm of the

The unique thing about honey is that it never spoils. I remember honey being found in ancient Egypt that was 1000s of years old and could still be digested. Also the Old Testament speaks of honey bees for example Samson said he found honey from bees in a lion carcass. When you say ancient do you mean before the Tower of Babel because there is really no way of confirming or denying that. We don't

@ificouldhietokolob If you were paying attention then you would have seen that 1 Samuel 18:25 says "The king desireth not any dowry" so therefore the task of killing 100 Philistines was not a dowry. Only a person thinking like a Mormon could ignore such a blatant statement in the verse then say it somehow means the exact opposite. You keep saying that the King did in fact want a dowry.

It is a weird phrase and a thought-terminating cliché. It isn't meant to produce deep thought. Instead it is meant to stop critical thinking (what if what I am being taught is wrong) and trigger impulsive obedience to the group (Everything is correct. Our leaders are inspired). Its a Mormon buzz word / phrase. It doesn't have to make sense it just has to make them feel good. That is why when Mor

@nonsequiter I would guess that it would be harder to preserve parts of their face like their nose since most of them would have been killed by being hit in the head. Also the foreskins prove that the people killed weren't Jews or woman. Saul didn't want David to succeed in the task. Maybe Saul was just trying to make it harder for him and make it impossible for him to cheat at the task. Saul wa

For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness t

@ificouldhietokolob The requirement of Saul to kill 100 Philistines was not unusual because the Philistines were at war with Israel. David killed 200 Philistines because he was battling with them. You cannot exactly just say to your enemy, "Hold on I have killed just enough of you for today. I am leaving." The details of the battles were not given. David killed 200 Philistines proving

@ificouldhietokolob Strange how you left out the ending of the verse where it says "'to take revenge on his enemies.’ Saul’s plan was to have David fall by the hands of the Philistines." Lets go with a more honest interpretation of the verse and I am not going to stop mid verse like you did taking the statement out of its context. 1 Samuel 18:25 (KJV) "25 And Saul said, Th

The purpose of David bringing the foreskins to Saul was to prove that he had killed those men. The method seems unusual but how else would you do it? The foreskin would be the best way to prove that a man had been killed for each foreskin taken.

@ificouldhietokolob David didn't buy a wife with foreskins. King Saul didn't need the foreskins for anything. Saul wasn't going to use them for anything. The point of the story is that the foreskins were used to PROVE to Saul that David had killed men as he promised. The foreskins were simply used as evidence.

The only living true prophets mentioned in the New Testament were John the Baptist and Jesus Christ. I would ask any Mormon why the New Testament constantly talks about future false prophets but doesn't talk of future true prophets. Mormons claim that Peter was the prophet of the early Christian Church but it doesn't once refer to him as a prophet. Mormons claim that prophets have to be male whic

There is no such passage. The word "modern" doesn't even appear in the New Testament. The word prophet appears 14 times in the Gospel of John and 11 times in the Book of Revelation. Every one of those verses is referring to either false prophets or the Old Testament prophets. Nowhere does it ever talk of future true prophets. The first thing you should have said is where is that written
