Ezekiel 37:15-17 (A scripture Mastery passage!) 15 The word of the Lord came again unto me, saying, 16 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim and for all the house of Israel his companions: 17 And join them one to another into one st

The only way that the Book of Mormon parallels the Dead Sea scrolls is by copying the King James Bible Translation word for word. Not very original or even an "evidence" since the King James Bible was already published. It is more of an "evidence" of fraud that Joseph Smith's seer stone came up with the exact same word for word English translation that the King James schol

Frankly the rules only apply to the low level missionaries. The high ranking missionaries can do whatever they want (with the blind indifference of the Mission President I assume). My mission President put missionaries who had behavior problems in the office instead of on the streets so that they could do paperwork all day and then goof off. I personally witnessed the Assistants to the president

Sales isn't always about having a wonderful pitch or product. Some strategies are just to ask a lot of people and find the ones who will accept. 1% of the world population is still a lot of people.

I dont think it is desperation. I think they are just going to keep asking till the person says yes. They know that repeatedly asking is going to get more people to say yes.

Too much coffee makes me feel nauseous. I would guess that you are drinking too much of it or putting too much sugar in it. Sugar and coffee creamers are not good. Try just putting whole milk or half and half in it.

Are you trying to say that Joseph Smith couldn't actually see hidden treasures like the Gold Plates in his seer stone?

Technically speaking the Gold Plates were supposed to be returned at some time in the future for the "sealed portion" of the book to be translated. I don't think that the LDS Church has the guts to invent new scriptures and claim they are a translation of the sealed portion of the Book of Mormon. If they had any guts at all then they would come out with new revelations periodically. The

@lvskeptic They lied about what the passages say and then claimed ignorance. They sounded ignorant as they repeatedly said that they didn't understand their own scriptures. This is the new go to apologetic phrase for Mormons confronted with the absurdities of their scriptures or prophetic statements. "We don't understand the passage" is like saying "these are not the droids you ar

Their own scriptures say that blacks should be denied the priesthood. Abraham 1:27 "Now, Pharaoh being of that lineage by which he could not have the right of Priesthood, notwithstanding the Pharaohs would fain claim it from Noah, through Ham, therefore my father was led away by their idolatry;" Notice that the Pharaoh was a descendant of Ham (Son of Noah) who according to Mormon

@sb The point is that there have to be people to do those 3 steps. The more ex-Mormons there are the more it gets done. That speeds up the process of the eventual decline of the LDS Church. They can't even maintain their active membership at this point. The LDS Church isn't creating Mormons. It is creating ex-Mormons. The more ex-Mormons it creates the more people there are talking about the abs

I just think that bringing up the kooky parts of their belief system will only re-enforce that their beliefs are kooky. This idea would not end well for the LDS.

@sb Have you considered that there are more ex-Mormons in the world then there are active Mormons? This is despite the constant efforts of the Mormons to grow their religion. They spend hours in meetings every week, they go on 2 year long missions, and give 10% of their income to the church yet it is still falling apart. Ex-Mormons don't have to dedicate themselves to "the cause" or gi

In 1995 the LDS had 5.2 million active members out of 9.3 million total members (56% active). In 2014 they had 4.8 million active members out of 15.3 million total members (31% active). Mormonism is in a steady decline. They pump up their overall numbers but it is just a fraud. They have lost a net total of 400,000 active members in the last 20 years. The LDS Church has tried to reverse this

I am sure it would be difficult to create a whole new language which is a mix of Hebrew and Egyptian then translate the Book of Mormon into that language.

I am no doctor but it sounds like he might be bipolar. People like that are either up or down. They don't have any middle ground. This results in enormous mood swings from an extreme to the opposite. I think mental illness is common among cult members because they are easy to manipulate and the cults create mental illness.

The problem is that the Gold Plates were a fantasy so they had to remain hidden. The ancient Egyptian papyri were real but the translation was a fantasy. Joseph Smith exploited the existence of the Egyptian papyri by setting up a museum and charging a fee to see them. I would ask any Mormon why it was okay for people to see the Egyptian papyri but not the Gold Plates? Shouldn't the Gold Plates be

What I read online is that the Ashley Madison site is basically a scam for desperate men. They say that the membership is 95% male and only 5% female. That doesn't give any man much of an opportunity for a hookup.

Its possible that people who signed up didn't really intend on having an affair. I have signed up for dating sites and not talked to a single person on it (or even filled out my profile) simply because I was curious about how it was setup or thought the idea of the site was funny. These sites require a membership to even enter chat areas or view profiles. If I were you I would just say let me

The doctrines of outer darkness and blood atonement are to gain control over the members. In Mormonism even Atheists go to the lowest degree of heaven but ex-Mormons go to outer darkness. Mormons say that the higher a person goes the harder they fall therefore outer darkness is only for Mormons who have received the "blessings" of Mormonism but have rejected it. Mormons complain abou

Hell in Mormonism is called Outer Darkness. They believe in it but believe that few people will go there (Mostly just people who break their Temple Covenants).

The problem I see with the pious fraud idea is that the United States was already deeply religious in the 1830s. That is the reason why Joseph Smith was successful at starting his church. The idea that Joseph Smith was saving his neighbors from something like unbelief is not true. Joseph Smith was simply exploiting their religious beliefs for his own personal gain.
