@elderolddog, The reason polygamy was stopped was because their church was going to be shut down by the Federal Government and their property confiscated. "The Lord showed me by vision and revelation exactly what would take place if we did not stop this practice. If we had not stopped it... all ordinances would be stopped throughout the land of Zion. Confusion would reign throughout Isra

@Cheryl, small polygamous groups never last long. The combination of fear of outsiders and lack of recruitment with a few men having all the children leads to inbreeding which leads to genetic death. It is unsustainable.

@anybody, so there isnt any actual violence but you are upset because people disagreed with you. You compared them to the Taliban because they have a different viewpoint.

@Cheryl, I suspect that they want to go unnoticed since their activity is illegal. As soon as Warren Jeffs got public attention from news outlets like Dateline he got a life sentence in Texas. I know about the FLDS and the Kingston groups. Which group were you in if you dont mind me asking?

@anybody, ok so where is the violence? Be specific. When was the last time a Christian of any denomination was violent against an atheist for their atheistic beliefs... Try to use proof or else you sound like a child complaining there are monsters under their bed that might get them at any moment. You say it is on the rise. So it should be today. Or maybe yesterday that a Christian extremist b

Its all talk. When a person leaves it because they werent good enough to live the values yet the members who stay arent living the values either. Members who arent living the values will still say the people who left were just too lazy to live the values. It is all about creating an image for the LDS Church.

@Agnes Broomhead, so this is exactly the problem. You are mixing so many words as if they mean the same thing. It sounds like you are really concerned with anti-abortion activist not Evangelicals. It can be hard to define what isnt and what is an Evangelical but when your issue is with anti-abortion activists that has nothing to do with Evangelicals. Also comparing anti-abortion activists to

@anybody, I asked for an Evangelical denomination that interprets Genesis 1:28 the way you think they do. I asked you to name just 1. At least 1. Instead you linked to a Wikipedia page that isnt even about Evangelicals.

@Agnes Broomhead, Dr Tiller was a member of an Evangelical Lutheran Church so I dont see how that makes Evangelicals guilty of anything. The victim was an Evangelical not the shooter. What was the shooters denomination? Just saying he was a fanatic doesnt even make him an Evangelical. You guys act like there is no difference between a Catholic, Baptist, or Evangelical. You throw around terms with

@anybody, the article says "Prominent adherents of these ideologies are otherwise theologically diverse, including Calvinist Christian Reconstructionism, Roman Catholic Integralism, Charismatic/Pentecostal Kingdom Now theology, New Apostolic Reformation and others." Notice how it doesnt list Evangelicals as adherents to "Dominion Theology." The truth is in the details.

@Agnes Broomhead, that was back in the 90s. That just proves my point that there isnt any contemporary Evangelical movement that even slightly resembles the Taliban... Not even roughly.

@anybody, here is the problem. You go from quoting fringe groups to just making things up. I dont know of a single Evangelical group that interprets Genesis 1:28 that way. Can you name at least 1 that does?

Funny how Mormons are so sure of everything up to and including the first vision of Joseph Smith but whenever they get caught doing something wrong it is in the "realm of speculation".

@severedpuppetstrings, it would be interesting to see if the LDS Church would turn a blind eye to polygamy like they do with coffee drinkers. As long as you arent making their church look bad, would they care? Here is audio of Richard E. Turley Jr. admitting that the LDS still believe in polygamy - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IElCWKsszpE The only thing that was banned was the practice

True, once information gets out on the Internet it is there to stay. The Chinese want to censor all sorts of information from getting into their country but they cant. The internet wins. The Mormon Church doesnt stand a chance.

That Church and State article is so dishonest. It takes Genesis 1:28 which is about mans dominion over all plants and animals in the world and tries to say it is talking about dominating other people. Try reading the verse in context. Plus there werent any other people besides Adam and Eve according to the story at the time.

@Dave the atheist, I am not trolling. In fact, I am just pointing out the obvious. The irony of an atheist calling Evangelicals terrorists when just 2 weeks ago an atheist walked into a church and yelled "Everyone die." then shot around 50 people. That is real terrorism.

@Soft Machine, did you even read the Church and State article? It says that extremists say things like "I'll pray for you". The horror. lol If you cant tell the difference between living in Alabama and Afghanistan then you really are out of touch. I mean really out of touch. You are calling Evangelicals terrorists. When was the last time an Evangelical killed someone in America f

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9cZgezeFMQ Joseph Smith first published his revelations in the Book of Commandments then later republished them in the Doctrine and Covenants with changes. Plus there have been about 3,913 changes in the Book of Mormon since its original publication in 1830.

How is anyone supposed to know your mood or psychological conditions unless you tell them? Are we just supposed to assume everyone here has PTSD? or everyone here is mentally ill? If so what mental illnesses are we supposed to assume? Considering that Joseph Smith "received a revelation" to sell the Book of Mormon in Canada he probably thought it would make him lots of money. Nobody bought the copy right to the Book of Mormon so Joseph gave himself more power and authority with each new revelation he made up.

I cant stand them saying "Its not our fault that God is racist". As if they are better than God. Secondly, Acts chapter 10 does not discuss racial segregation at all. The word race (in regards to racial identity) doesnt appear at all in the chapter or the Bible at all. The word race in the Bible is used like "to run a race". It says things like race to your salvation.

@Noel Mockery, our sense of humor must be very different. I agree that a person should be able to judge the content of the post by the title. That is how people choose which ones to click on. That is why people should say it is OT when it is OT. The problem is with titles like "war on christmas" when the post doesnt even have to do with the "war on christmas" is that it is

@elderolddog, if you think copying and pasting a literal horoscope is funny then that is just your sense of humor. Its not my sense of humor but it is a sense of humor. Humor would be posting a picture of a cat with the caption - "My cat got into the eggnog this Christmas. Looks like he isnt Mormon anymore either." That is humor.

@Noel Mockery, you said "In reviewing your posts, though, I find that you don't protest against non-religious O/T subjects, instead protesting (mostly) atheism" That is because when most people post off topic things they say so in the title so others dont get mislead into thinking it is about Mormonism. For example Dave the atheist posted a daily horoscope for absolutely no apparent
