@Beth, you are right. Coffee does save lives by lifting peoples moods and mitigating the effects of depression. This has been shown to reduce the number of suicides in coffee drinkers. Mormon suicide rates would be greatly reduced if there wasnt a ban on coffee in Mormonism!

@ificouldhietokolob - If you like the taste of dirt then you dont need to sweeten your coffee. Most people use sugar and sweeteners though.

@Free Man, If you knew anything about coffee (which you apparently dont) then you would know that people typically put large amounts of sugar in coffee because coffee doesnt taste good by itself. Even with all that sugar it still reduces risk of diabetes. Plus your statement about coffee being bad because somehow one day you might not have any is stupid. Something cant be bad for you because

Yes, the LDS Church removed the penalties in 1990 to appease the members of their Church who were turned off by it. It wasnt really public knowledge at the time so I dont think it was because of criticism from outside the LDS Church. @badassadam, yes, they do go at people really hard because its a cult. That is what cults do. They abuse people. Its not your fault. They abuse members and non-m

@badassadam The thing about Mormons is that they are hurt by their Church but they cant admit it so they pretend that everyone else is the problem. Imagine being a young lady and having to go through that on your wedding day without any warning... You just wanted to get married and instead you got death threats (penalties of slitting your throat, ripping your heart out, or cutting your stomach

The Endowment gets worse as you go back in time to the founding of Mormonism. I have an audio recording of the Temple Endowment from 1984 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvGYH_S0DgA&list=PL0179692DF0B6487A It includes the "penalties" where members pantomime cutting their throats, having their hearts ripped out of their chest, and slitting their torso open as penalties for br

You are right to question it. I did a video about this. LDS General Authority Admits The Temple Endowment Can Be Disturbing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePU4oYisTP0 Hans Mattsson (an area Authority in Europe) said that he had nightmares for a week after going through the Temple Endowment for the first time. Richard E. Turley Jr. (a Church Historian) said that his daughter was "so

@Chicken N. Backpacks, I still cant get over the story of Laban. I mean you have an inept prophet of God named Lehi who doesnt even have his own copy of the scriptures so he sends his son to buy the only available copy from an evil drunkard named Laban. Laban refuses to sell the scriptures to them so they cut his head off and impersonate Laban so that they can steal the scriptures and run off

The LDS are the most clueless about the most obvious symbols in their Temple. They are the square, compass, and level. Joseph Smith took them directly from Freemasonry. They wear them on their underwear and still have no clue about their origin...

@Dave the Atheist You said "I just love these out-of-the-frying-pan-into-the-fire threads" You immediately go passive aggressive by saying that you love these kinds of posts when we know you dont. If you dont like the thread then why were you in such a rush to comment. You make it seem like you are the one with unresolved issues. Other atheists seem to be able to temper their reac

Mormonism got its symbols from Freemasonry. Freemasonry got its symbols from the Kabbalah. The Kabbalah got its symbols from Hermeticism and nobody knows where Hermeticism came from. Hermeticism is some of the oldest pagan rights known to man and people claim it came from Atlantis (if there was even such a place) but nobody can prove it...

The Plan of Salvation says that we were required to come to earth and follow God's plan. 1/3 of the spirits in heaven refused and were sent straight to outer darkness. Yup sounds absurd. Also I thought it was strange that Gods with physical bodies would produce spirit babies without physical bodies. Plus how does a woman with a body get pregnant with a non-physical spirit baby anyways. It jus

When I was a missionary we paid rent when we lived in a members house. It was a good deal for members who loved to have missionaries around and had spare rooms. The only problem is that this led to missionaries getting too close to the family.

A few legal maxims in the US legal system would immediately dismiss such a contract because it is: (1) Verbal only because any contract dealing with large sums of money must be in writing. (2) Secret. No court would even consider enforcing a secret agreement. (3) Immoral. No court would consider enforcing a contract such as a "billion years of service". Even if every aspect of the
