You let the foxes into the hen house. Mormons will use any favor that they do for you to guilt you into further meetings. It's like a crack dealer giving out free crack to 1st time users to get you hooked. Now, your going to have to be rude to get them to go away. It's like The Godfather. Now, they make you believe you owe them. Cut it off now and forever.

It's still frowned upon in Utah. That's what makes them so susceptible to MLM scams. Stay at home while making easy money in your spare time! Just sign up and hand over a check. Let's get started!

Mostly agree. However, for those that live in the theocracy in Utah, where "the" church controls the State and most of the politicians, it makes it difficult. When they use their word of wisdom to pass and enforce laws on Utahn's, it becomes a blurred line. When politicians, who are also Stake Presidents and govt. department heads, get caught stealing or commit other crimes, that should

Well, when the people you ask, all belong to the same club, you're going to get the same response. Go to the police station and ask for a supervisor. But, make sure he's telling the truth. BTW, did you ask why the kid meant by "That's what you get"? Was he fouling intentionally?

The point is/was, that despite all the proclamations, declaration, prophecies, and press releases, the rest of the world is still calling "mormons", "mormons".

Well, I guess not. If they're are no more mormons, there are no more mormon missions. Which brings up the question, if you WERE a mormon missionary, before the prophetic name change, are you still a RMM or are you a RCOJCOLDSM?

Watching Utah St. v Washington play in the NCAA Tourney. CBS/TBS/TNT announcers must not have heard that they're no mormons any longer. Announcer, commenting on a Utah State player's age. "Yeah, but he spent 2 years on his mormon mission". Ha!

Wow. Kind of a dick. That's what parents do, they help their kids if and when they can. Telling your kid not to touch a hot stove burner, because it will cause serious damage and pain, is the right thing to do vs. "letting them figure it out for themselves". Especially if you can cut through miles of red tape and bureaucracy of government agencies. You could probably start a small, loca

Not to insult your intelligence, but this needs repeating. You do understand the purpose of a mission-right? It's to indoctrinate the missionary into a lifetime of paying tithing. You get that-right? The church is a 100 billion dollar MLM. With vast financial and real estate holdings. They don't care if a missionary converts 15 suckers from "shit hole countries", that can't pay tithing.

Well, two things. You're right- the FLDS and other splinter groups live the religion closer to Joe Smith and Briggy Young's mormonism, than today's LDS church. But, all mormons and exmo's are not complicit. I know many mormons that were always told that much of real church history was an "anti mormon" lie. Even with the CES letter and the church essays, on the church website, they refus

It's obvious that Nelson is a narcissistic attention whore. Changing "LDS" and "Mormon". Throwing himself a big birthday bash, etc. Meeting with the Pope and getting his picture circulated was probably on his bucket list. He couldn't get the publicity on his own, that he got with meeting the Pope. Nelson, ala Trump, would throw himself a military parade down West Temple if he t

That's absolutely correct. Nothing, absolutely nothing, happens in Russia without the approval of Putin and his henchmen. Putin "allows" the church to be, because, as you say, it placates some of the population and gives them false hope. Yesterday, Putin signed a law making it a crime for Russian media to write or broadcast anything critical of him. People that have crossed Putin have a

"I think these two missionaries just had the misfortune of pissing off the wrong priest." No, these missionaries had the misfortune of having parents with no balls. Parents that should tell the church; "My kid will gladly serve a mission for the church. Just not in a place where the political, and brutal leadership is hostile to mormonism".

Cool story; "This obit says that more information is available on the Larkin Mortuary website but I don't see any links as of today." There's a large Larkin mortuary, near my home that I drive near almost daily. There's another one in Riverton, by my friends home. If it doesn't pop up, online, in a few days, I could stop by and inquire for you.

"What about shady MLMs, or door-to-door sales companies with unsavory reputations? Utah is rife with various sorts of white collar crime, and it is not coming out of Ogden, and it is hardly to be considered a counter-culture to Mormonism, since, IMHO, Mormonism is basically a white-collar MLM fraud itself." Yeah, but you're not making the distinction between typical crime and Utah

You need to understand Ogden history, before you associate it with the rest of Utah. Ogden wasn't your typical Utah, pioneer settled town. Ogden exploded with the Transcontinental railroad. Union Pacific located there and brought in tens of thousands of outside workers, not LDS. Many Chinese.Probably the largest city of a Gentile population in Utah at the time. Ogden has always been a blue colla

"Why do you think the teacher would know anything about it?" Why? Because the teacher is LDS. You know, the new, Christian mormons. She should know all about Easter and Ash Wednesday-right? Even if she was ignorant, apparently, of the tradition, she should have paused after the kid explained it to her. And then, before making him wipe it off, she should've consulted her superiors. G
