I have heard of some terrible bishops on here, but I am glad to say that mine is not one of them. On Easter Sunday, after priesthood meeting, he asked me to stay behind for a few minutes. I was nervous, because I had previously expressed my feelings toward the church. This time, however, I came out and admitted that I consider myself an atheist. This was the first time I ever told anyone outside

That's a big slap in the face to anyone who has had a child that's been murdered.

Since sexual "sin" is almost as bad as murder, wouldn't that make pretty much every teenage boy in existence worse than Ted Bundy? After all, Bundy "only" killed like 30 people.

Pet - A Perfect Circle. Here are the lyrics: Don't fret precious I'm here Step away from the window Go back to sleep Lay your head down child I won't let the boogeyman come Counting bodies like sheep To the rhythm of the war drums Pay no mind to the rabble Pay no mind to the rabble Head down, go to sleep To the rhythm of the war drums Pay no mind what other voices say

I don't think this is a Mormon trait. People are like this regardless. But, this just goes to show that religion doesn't make you a better, more honest individual.

About the reception: the wedding I went to had a quite nice reception, I thought. There were a lot of good refreshments, including a chocolate fountain where you could dip lots of fruit in. I don't know, maybe Canadians just do it better :P

The whole idea of a Civil Union seems so childish and petty to me. Like, yeah you can get married as long as you don't call it "marriage." Jesus Christ...

I have only been to one Mormon wedding, but I was not inside for the ceremony. I always thought that it was just like a traditional wedding where people are sitting in the pews, the bride walks up with her father, the Bishop or whatever performs the wedding vows and they say "I do," kiss, and everyone's happy. But it recently occurred to me that this is probably not the case. What is th

This has bothered me for quite some time. Mormons always talk about how they teach that families will be together forever while other Christian denominations do not. Isn't this a load of BS? Don't other Christians believe that they will go to heaven and meet their Earthly family at the pearly gates?

Why does everyone, even book worms and people who just enjoy reading in general, struggle to read the BOM? Why does everyone constantly have to be prodded and challenged to read it? Isn't the BOM supposed to make everyone feel extraordinarily good about themselves? If that were the case, would everyone treat it like its such a chore to even read a few pages?

I don't know about you, but I don't think scientists constantly go around to each other saying "I KNOW abiogenesis is true, I KNOW evolution is true, I KNOW the Earth is 4.5 Billion years old." They don't have to, because they know that these theories hold water. They have evidence. They don't have to try and convince themselves using emotions or someone else's personal witness, they ar

I've never really understood this. How are shoulders even remotely sexual? What's more, why do they make even little girls cover them up? WTF? They're little girls! Teenagers, I can understand (I myself am a teenager), but little girls?

Apparently, young priesthood holders can now follow around the missionaries in their area for about an hour to their appointments to see what it's like...I was recently called and asked to do just that tonight, and my inability to say "no" has caused me trouble once again. Wonderful...should I call back and cancel?

Even more ironic is how Mormons themselves ignore the missionaries of other churches, i.e. Jehovah Witnesses.

I recently took a look at the picture from my first and only school dance and noticed that the girl (who is a Mormon) was wearing a sleeveless dress. And despite her being gorgeous, and despite the fact that I am a teenage boy, this didn't cause me to think anything promiscuous. (But according to Mormon Logic, if it did cause me to think promiscuous thoughts, it would be her fault) Anyway, it got

I was simply told that girls have little eggs inside of them and that I'm supposed to "fertilize" one for it to develop into a baby. I was thoroughly confused, because to me fertilizer was just some stuff that we poured on our lawn to help it grow. So I just take one of her eggs and pour lawn fertilizer on it? Okay...

I just went to the "Evergreen" webshite. I'm almost driven to tears with its tripe. Notice how they try to sugar-coat everything with a tone of love and understanding, which is utter bullshit and only serves to insult my intelligence. Let's replace some of the words, shall we? "Everwhite was founded in 1989 as a non-profit education and resource organization by individuals who w

The great thing about science is that when new discoveries disprove a scientific theory, scientists admit that they were wrong and change it to fit with the new evidence. When religious people find out that they're wrong, they simply deny the evidence and continue to claim that their religion is true. This is also known as Apologetics.

Yesterday, I gave the lesson in the Priest's quorum. This month's theme is "Marriage and Family." So I read The Family: A Proclamation to the World for the first time. When I finished, all I could think was "that's it?" Other people seem to make such a big deal out of it. Yet all it is, is a summary of the same stuff that I have been taught for my entire life. Wasn't it suppos

Agreed. Couldn't God just tell Joseph Smith exactly what happened in "Book of Mormon times?" Wouldn't that be more accurate than any written account?

As you all know, God apparently favors 17th century English over our 21st century English, and as such we must include outdated words such as thee, thou, thy and thine when we pray to Him. But do Mormons even know how to properly use these words? Have they all taken a class in "King James English," wherein they learned the vocabulary and grammar? I certainly don't remember being taught

This may sound a little off-topic, but, as you said, he seems to be one who believes that America's demise is due to declining morals and values. I find it interesting when people make this claim, considering our history of slavery, segregation, women's rights (or lack thereof), children's rights, etc. I for one think that our morals are slowly getting better. We're getting more tolerant of other

Mormonism teaches that the only sins worse than "sexual sin" are murder and denying the Holy Ghost. (See: https://www.lds.org/youth/for-the-strength-of-youth/sexual-purity?lang=eng) But I'm sure we could easily come up with plenty of other things that are worse than both "sexual sin" and "denying the Holy Ghost." 1. Hatred. 2. Bigotry and prejudice. 3. Hur

There's nothing wrong with being Mormon. Just as long as they don't act on their Mormon desires and conform to the normal standards of our society. Of course, the Liberals will call me a hateful bigot, etc. But the truth is, I don't hate them. In fact, I have Mormon friends. I simply disagree with the lifestyle choice that they have made, and I don't think it's right that they are trying to i
