My friend refused to have the GA in the home! It was reported that the GA would be in town, and the SP was the one doing the invitations...to several/many families.. No, my friend is not wealthy- but basically he has a list of issues (SOUND FAMILIAR?) that the leadership won't/can't answer. My friend is assuming that there will be discipline next unless the family submits to the GA Home mee

Here's a piece of pretty big news from the heart of the Morridor: Friend began looking into a few things about a year and a half ago. Previously - YM Pres, RM, TBM, from Pioneer stock. Had many conversations with the Bishop who said "I think you'll pull through this OK" Stake Pres brought into the scene, who couldn't provide answers to my friend's shelf questions... Now, the Area or

Tis the season: hundreds, thousands of 18 year old young men receiving their mission calls, farewells, their first trip to the endowment ceremony in the temple. I've loved these boys for many years, they're the same age as my son. They've spent lots of happy moments being free from judgement in our home. But we aren't members, so I'm sure we'll lose touch with a lot of them. I'm hopeful their

Dear Non Member: Can you post a link or the article your dad read? I think it would be valuable to a lot of people on this board. As a non member in the heart of Mormon country, I understand! Keep your chin up, get through this semester, then get out of there- it's not going to get any better. TBM missionaries are like puppies, unless you're very clear, they will keep pestering you. It's a

after being in happy valley as as NonMo for 4+ years, I must report my experience: it can be tough, but not impossible to live here. There are LOTS of new Christian churches in Provo, Orem, Lindon, Lehi. Starbucks is building shops faster than I can cope with (it's not new or unique anymore) So, the envoironment is changing. As far as clubs and bars go......that's another story- a place called

Memikeyounot- since there was a Sai Paulo mission ALL THE WAY BACK in 1968-70 Shouldn't there be a whole lot more Mormon converts in Brazil by now? 46 years of Missionary service = how many baptisms????

what exactly is or is not prohibited in today's W if W? Hot chocolate, as well as coffee-less Starbucks drinks are extremely popular in Utah county. I, personally, don't care for Starbucks coffee (I've got my own brew that's way better) or their sugary drinks...but so many new locations tells me something has changed.

I simply have a hard time with everything being changed to accommodate a few. According to something I read, a person is supposed to go into the restroom of the gender they identify as, regardless of parts. But what if there are no doors on the stalls? I've decided I want to be a black, trans-lesbian polygamist. and I demand society accommodate me, oh...and I want my insurance to cover the

Young man's weekly letters, from his mission near Mexico City, have been so interesting! This one, though, begged to be shared....Please comment on what strikes your funny bone... Hey everyone! This week has been pretty crazy! To start things out, Wednesday there was a world wide missionary training! It was super cool hearing the general athorities talk about what we can do to become better

It's a good thing- intelligent people will hopefully have questions, do their own research. Today's COJCOLDS bares very little resemblance to the one my parents studied for a time in 1967

Hahahaha This slick publication is seen everywhere along the Wasatch Front, In 98% of every doctor or dentist office... I've seen a n in bank lobbies, etc. Doesn't bother me a bit. Interestingly: in the Florida/Alabama panhandle, there are religious magazines front and center by the cash registers, just like here in Urah. Just a different brand of religion, that's all. A senior missionary r

Maybe it depends on what area the ward is in. I just heard that in Folsom, Ca. The members hired a janitor out of their own pocket. I'm I've seen both "it's my honor to clean the chapel" & "it's not MY deal to be clean up" on my friends FB pages, that's why I asked.

does anyone know exactly when Ward members became the "volunteer" Janitors? The sacrament meeting times change this Sunday - so the last groups out have the job. All I can think of: After 3 hours... now the members literally have to clean up after all the shit.

Interesting thread. A friend mentioned that his son came home early from his mission to marry his girlfriend. They had "done the deed" before he left, and they had a lot of guilt. I don't know what look I had on my face, but I know I was thinking, "aren't we in the 21st century "??? My SIL mentioned that her step grandson is getting married soon. They are like 19...her f

Listen to all this good advice! The main thing to find out more about his "status", what level of Mormon he is or isn't...and it really does matter! Daughters rarely listen to their parents when they're in love, that's why knowing some details ahead of time is so something you should be able to talk to him about, upfront. If he's really left the church for good, he'll be open and fran
