Because the percent of people who are Mormon in Utah is no where near 85 percent. It is only 85 percent using special Mormon math, which some would claim are based on really weird ways of interpreting numbers, and straight out lies. However, there are a lot of born again Christians who probably vote with the Mormons on the morality issues.

I am going to try to keep this from being political, so please don't take it there. Recently, a Brian Williams has gotten into a bit of hot water for supposedly lying about being on board a helicopter that was shot down by an RPG while flying over Iraq. He is being accused of being a liar, which is ridiculous, as I will soon explain. Now while there are all these witnesses who are claiming to

Maybe the instinctive fear of mice helped our ancestors stay alive when dealing with these things?

It's possible that there are way too many people on both Mormon Stories and Mormon Think for the church to go after them. Excommunicating the leaders sends a message. Excommunicating the masses of participants just splinters the church. God, I hope their self righteous butts make that mistake.

Though Dunning-Krugerants could also refer to Miami Beach Condos, bullets, rifles, gold, or any other product, many of them with real value, that is vastly over valued by ignorance.

For those of you who don't know what the Dunning-Kruger effect is, it is the phenomenon where incompetent people overestimate their ability to handle something, because they are too ignorant on any given task to realize that they are in fact, well ignorant. The effect also shows that the inverse is also true, truly competent people tend to downplay their own skills, because they assume what is s

I remember reading someplace that Joseph Smith's leg injury, from when he had surgery on it as a child, kept him from serving in the militia. I also remember there was a big hoopla about this, as he had to appeal to the local militia board to avoid service, and they took a lot of convincing. It would seem that despite his claims of walking with a limp, for some reason the local militia board, w

The world is full of thousands of crumbling temples to gods whose names few living men recall, and to which none continue to pray. Someday the temples of Mormonism will be equally desolate, as will all the Cathedrals, mosques, chapels, and shrines of all modern religions. The only question is not if, but when.

Steve, this is unrelated, but I read an article that a lot of prominent cartoonist are drawing cartoons to honor the slain cartoonist in France. Are you one of these? Are you going to do one? I don't know why, but I can't stop thinking about Paris today. These guys stood up to a religious tyranny through cartoons, and they paid the ultimate price for it. As a cartoonist who stands up to relig

Religion is a cancer. There are many types of different cancers, just as there are different types of religion, some magnitudes times worse then others, but at the end of the day, no matter which one you have, you still have cancer.

Better to teach your kids to lie, then to stop idiots from asking them inappropriate questions.

That doesn't sound cultish at all. No wait, that is exactly the kind of behavior people imagine, when they try to think of the difference between a cult and a regular religion.

Steve, perhaps you can help me out. I have read both Sun-tzu's "Art of War" and Carl von Clausewitz "On War" as well as a number of classical and modern treaties on defeating other countries, both openly and through subversion. Where exactly are all the missing chapters on destroying the enemies family unit first? There are plenty of stuff about destroying his ability to mo

I would say a dishonest tithe would be when you claim you are going to use people tithing money to make the world a better place, but turn around and build a mall with it instead.

I like a little bondage play now and then, but I have traumatic memories of being forced to learn how to tie knots from my time in the scouts, so I shall not be participating in this one. However, I do know how to creatively use handcuffs, duck tape and plastic saran wrap in creative ways.

I watched an owned a lot of R-rated movies, even as a member. I then ended up getting rid of all of them at one point, out of guilt, when I tried to stop watching R-rated movies. That lasted about three months, and then I found myself slowly buying back all the movies I had gotten rid of. Well, not all, but the ones I enjoyed. This was back in the long long ago days when movies came on DVDs

In my neck of the woods, the primary reason someone ding dong ditches is to ascertain if the home owner is at home, so they can properly plan on the best way of looting the dwelling of said homeowner. Whenever it has happens, it's a pretty good sign that one of your neighbor's houses is about to be hit buy burglars. That may be more of a Florida thing though. I am sure with Mormons, it's about

You also have to be careful with people who pull out Homeland Security badges. There are dozens of regional private security firms across the country that try to market themselves by using the name Homeland Security, as part of their company name. Actual Homeland Security badges will have the actual agency name on them.

I could tell you so many stories about Homeland Security, but I won't, because odds are there are at least a couple of guys on the board trying to scratch out a living in that failed program. Actually, Homeland Security includes the Coast Guard and Secret Service, who are both normally really good at their jobs. I think you really mean the TSA, which is a whole other story.

Ours was also in the middle of the week. Our mission president was obsessed with the idea that missionaries were forming secret cliques to get around the rules, so the last thing I think he wanted, was for us to be discussing our plans for the next day, with the other sets of elders who may be in the same ward house as us. I was in San Diego, and every church building had two or three wards ass

I wouldn't say it is drying up too much. They did just spend nearly a billion dollars buying land in Florida, though I have to say considering the type of land they purchased, in order to become the largest land holder in the state, they got screwed. Especially since they have to pay St. Joe (the company they bought the timber land from) to manage and harvest the land for them, at what is proba

Thank you for your contributions. I consider this as a late Christmas gift to the Mormons, since getting attention from non-Mormons is the same exact thing they want every year, no matter how often they unwrap that particular gift, only to discover it isn't as great a present as the hype had lead them to conclude it was going to be.

Was there a trial or did Mark Hoffman plead guilty? If there was a trial, and they were never called, then it is strange that Mark Hoffman's attorney's have never used this irregularity to get him a new trial. If he plead guilty, I am wondering what kind of back room deals were worked out. Didn't Hoffman also have a friend who got caught with bomb making materials, and an illegal submachineg

Here is what I wrote. "I can't thank this product enough. Before I hung it in my home, friends were always bothering me with questions about how they should decorate their home, or asking me over, just so I they could ask me to help arrange their furniture just so. For some reason, all of my friends and family just always assumed I had outstanding taste in style and decor, and it was real

Some of you may remember that we had a lot of fun writing helpful product reviews for the Book of Mormon, as well as the Angel Moroni Tie pin, and the iron rod tie pin that looked like, well it looked like a hand holding onto a certain male body part. Now I have found another wonderful product that could use our help. http://www.amazon.com/Book-Mormon-Timeline-Wall-Chart/dp/B000I6KQE6 This

Mr. Kruger's Christmas...no wait, that is both my least favorite Christmas movie, and my least favorite Jimmy Stewart movie. It does, however, remain my favorite piece of Mormon propaganda. Favorite Christmas movie? I am going with either Die Hard or A Christmas Story, because they are both heartwarming tails of the power of people to reach through adversity, in order to find the true meanin
