Years ago when I asked my Sunday school teacher what happened to sealed families that got divorced, remarried, or had abusive family members, he told me "it will all be worked out in heaven." Needless to say, the answer did not satisfy me. I was hoping for something more specific.

Lattes from Starbucks are delicious. I like the vanilla. If you're a fan of peppermint and chocolate, I recommend the peppermint mocha.

I have a question concerning the Old Testament. There was a city God destroyed in th OT. All in the city was wicked, including babies and children, since that includes everyone. I don't remember them being spared. Not sure if this was the same city the virgins were taken either. If I remember correctly, these people were given a few hundred years to absolve their wickedness, but they didn't, s

First, it's awesome! Long live Toy Story. Great animation and entertainment. Second, a major theme of this TV special is cult mentality and brainwashing. The old wise one is on a power trip, commands conformity, and blocks the truth from his followers. I thought of the Profit immediately. That's all I will say, to not spoil. It's more black and white in the TV special, though it's also geared

1. Yes :) 2. She falls into the first category. Not sure if her mission partner does or not. My friend makes her own choices, thankfully, but that doesn't mean she's immune to peer pressure. We all have those moments. I may end up just gauging her reaction first, then determining from there.

C - About the only reason I was ever invited over. Once in a very, very blue moon I got to hang out with my friend inside her home (her Mom's fault), even when her home was organized, yet missionaries and members were allowed over. I never misbehaved either and just wanted to spend time with my friend. I was only invited over frequently for missionary lessons. F & G - I'm all for helping,

I think I will investigate this book. I can appreciate how the author wants these women to have a voice in modern times, too. It was always annoying when members oversimplified JS's polygamy. My ward acknowledged polygamy in church history...but the topic was quickly hushed. No answers beyond "JS married widows to help them" and that polygamy was in place to populate the church (whic

Exactly. I'm hoping no one will convince her to "pray about it" and make her miss out on harmless drink/meal. I'm sure she'll be fine with it, but I hope she has a cool partner who isn't paranoid.

I was reading the comments section on this article and saw yours. Props to you for speaking up. It's also refreshing how most of them see through JS's bull**** cult :)

Good or bad idea? A gift card to Starbucks. Sounds a bit crazy (why I'm asking). I was recently hired at Starbucks. I want to share this awesome news with my friend. Don't worry; she'll be happy for me. A gift card is the perfect way to announce this and something I hope she can enjoy. But I'm torn. Starbucks has a fair selection of coffee/caffeine-free drinks and plenty of food items to c

Speaking of severe drop-offs, I noticed this happened a few years ago in YW and RS, but with a song. Midway through high school we stopped singing the song "Walk Tall ." Like, no one suggested it anymore. Not sure if this was coincidence or not. I rarely missed church. It was a nice song, but maybe my ward was sick of it?

I know! Even compared to many other LDS women, she seems more fanatical/fundamentalist. Obedience is her second favorite church principle. She is obnoxious, hogs conversations, and is somewhat neurotic. She acted like it was her God-given duty to correct me for my "crime." Don't even try to raise up the idea of a woman wanting to pursue a career forever instead of having a family...she'

I understand. Not in the case of a parent, but an older sibling. I'd be relieved if this toxic person vanished from my life forever, either through death or other means.

I completely agree with your reply. I've had the most minimal contact with her since then. I quit attending church soon after this happened, and also because visiting the temple grounds made me realize the church is not what I thought. The majority of the members' attitudes and this self-righteous woman seriously turned me off to attending church much longer. I'm so happy I don't talk to her a

Philisophical question of the day. When is lying deemed justifiable or forgivable? Everyone has lied before. Maybe it was a tiny lie, middle of the road, inconsequential, or a big one. Then there are white lies, accidental lies, and malicious lies. Everyone will have their own individual reservations. I'm thinking of a situation that happened to me a couple of years ago. In the car on th

I'm thankful for my mother, too. She is my favorite person in the world <3. I love mothers who raise their children, especially their daughters, to believe in their own self-worth and to be true to themselves.

Yet the priesthood holders say the same repetitive prayer at sacrement meeting. Both prayers are official, in that they are word for word. By their logic, the sacrement prayer also does not come from the heart... Also, the unofficial word for word "please bless this food to nourish and strengthen our bodies." I wonder how those prayers pass as original and from the heart.

It's bother angering and laughable that the Mormon's on your FB page haven't answered your last and most important question. Let us know when, or if, they do. It's cowardly for them to not give an official answer, as if they know it will make them look bad. You'd think they'd have the courage to stand up for their convictions when it really matters!

Haha this made me laugh :). That's how Mormons think of blessings, to a T. I agree with you about budgeting. My problem is the income...I can't save because my money goes straight to necessities. My job is another issue in itself. Saving has literally been my goal from the start, just seeing my effort pay off in my bank account. I'm very careful of how I spend, promise! I don't buy frivilous thin

Thanks for the answer. I'm having financial difficulty right now, so I can't leave that problem alone. This will not go away and must be figured out, for obvious reasons.

How do you distinguish between which one is happening? This is if you believe. I know which trials I can overcome. Challenges are good. Obstacles help us grow. My challenges are closer to bad luck. I'm hit with them all at once, and they all influence each other. One big mess. I'm tired of having to sort it all out, but I need to. The only thing these obstacles do is make me suffer. They are not

Yikes! You'd think they'd have known better than to discuss heated topics at such a time. Holidays are supposed to be spent relaxing in the company of loved ones and getting away from the problems of the world. Abortion is not a dinner-friendly topic!!

What do you want to know about the culture? I'll tell you anything. How should I go about looking for other locations to transfer to? I'm not totally sure what my shift supervisors have said about me to my manager, but right now, I think my goal should be to improve at having more confidence, increasing my speed, and nailing other non drive thru aspects of the job. However, it's really a Catch

I got a job a few weeks ago at Starbucks. I will hit the 3 month mark in early January. I want to leave this location ASAP because I fail miserably at the drive thru, something I don't enjoy, naturally causing irritation for my coworkers. Not a good impression to make on them or the customers. I am not confident it will get better with time. I'm also upset that I dont seem to fit in with most of

That's a good question. I don't think one needs to be a Christian to leave a positive, meaningful impression in the world. For me though, it's challenging to imagine life without a divine force. I don't even think much about the afterlife, because we can't really imagine what it is like, so it's not worth imagining to me. I feel complete knowing there is mystery and wonder in the world. That's ob

I definitely believe in God and Christ. I believe the world has a divine creator. However, I'm struggling with whether or not God is a loving god. I just found a new church. Tried it out and got an excellent first impression. My prayers were answered, you could say. I guess crying and pouring my heart out did the trick, since my other prayers seemed less sincere by comparison. Maybe that's why

I would if I could, but the reality is I'm not even in the same state as she is. Neither my boyfriend not myself were there to see where she picked up the cat. This is why this situation is challenging, because literal action beyond phone calls is not in my power :/. My boyfriend is making effort to get her to do the right thing...but I think his method is too soft, won't work, and will only wast

Except that some cats are outdoor cats. The owner will let the cat wander outside in the day, then the pet comes inside for the evening. However, you could be right in this case. My boyfriend said no one made a missing cat report fitting the description and no one's put up posters yet. Her behavior is concerning though, don't you think? It was based on what she wanted, not what was best for the c

My ethical duty--this is how I feel. But where can I start? I have no clue where she lives, other than the town, or the owners for that matter :(. I can't sneak pictures of the cat, then make posters to put up around the neighborhood like I want to. I tried finding her address online, but she nor her parents were listed. I also tried sending her mail a few weeks ago (given an address) but she nev
