Morals and ethics don't come from religion. Religion simply mimics the cooperative conduct of successful populations and then pretends that it was the idea of their deity. I agree that religion has played a role in manipulating certain segments of some populations into societal compliance. BUT the atrocities committed under religious motivations in my opinion far outweigh any benefits.
