No I think you are angry because you attack me as if I were the Church. I'm not sure how you think honestly discussing one's emotions while in the process of changing life long paradigms is in bad taste but I'm glad you don't think I'm a bad person. I was never racist, I was certainly never a homophobe, and my wife would never let me be sexist. I certainly agree with you however that the Churc

Thanks cludgie for telling me this. When I hear stories like that it makes much of what I've done become entirely worth while.

Thanks 3X, I should have made it more clear that I wrote that nearly 10 years ago, (in fact I went to the archives here at RfM to copy and paste it) and very early in my exit from Mormonism. I long ago emptied the bricks from my backpack.

Sonoma, I don't know you, and you obviously don't know me. Your conclusions and anger are misplaced but I understand. Perhaps before you make such brash statements you might google SLDrone, consider my path out of Mormonism and view this post as something I wrote early in my journey. Back when I wrote this, there were only a few of us on RfM. We were just getting the board going, we knew

Hello Rambo, I don't post much on RfM anymore, primarily because these days I'm more R'd than M. But I stopped by today and saw your post. I'm reminded of some very similar feelings I've had. Even still on occasion I feel that longing. Here is a story I wrote a few years ago, I think you'll find yourself in it. Sometimes I Wish I Could Go Home I had lunch today with a bright faced y

I never got my pamphlet. They were so sick of me that when I resigned directly and in person with a member of the twelve, well he must have run it right over to Dodge. I got a letter the very next day that said, "Per your request you name has been removed from the membership records of the church". One sentence, signed Dodge The end I've always wanted to see that pamphet

MJ - It hadn't occurred to me until I read your post, but you are absolutely right. I believe your examples perfectly support your theory. Official response has entirely ignored Packer. Why did Packer say what he did? Why did he say it in such a way? Why did he bring it up again? Why did he punctuate it with "we cannot change, we will not change"? In my opinion it was his last

Perhaps the solution to your conundrum is to allow gay people to marry. Only then could it be possible to temper your religious views with mercy.

I wrote this essay several years ago shortly after being released as a mission president. Packer's recent remarks and the subsequent backlash motivate me to bring it out for another run. The phone rang late one night. My wife answered it and shook me with some urgency, something about one of the elders really needs you. Rising from the fog of sleep and forcing myself to pass into consciousnes
