I think most of us survivors fight back. It's just in a different way. Sometimes the head-on approach just creates a hill to die on. Outflanking maneuvers take much longer, but can help us live another day. My best thoughts and hopes are with those who've suffered abuse. It's not easy. Hang in there badassadam. Our hearts are with you!

newborn babies can't even hold their heads up -- their heads flop around. It's downright cruel to jerk a newborn around trying to make them "dance." These 2 staffers have been fired (according to what I read on the internet) and rightly so.

+1 on that. I wonder why the church would pay $35 for the B of M printer's manuscript?

There could be info about Bennett in other contemporary sources not having any connection with religious topics.

That's right. "What ever God commands is right, no matter what it is," right? And those who offend have a different set of rules for themselves than for everybody else.

So many good points by those posting on this thread. Most people need to have an ideology to hold onto, that they feel is the answer to the world's problems. People need to belong to a group, and it's even better if the group is tight-knit and uniform the world over (like going to McDonald's for your meals when touring Shanghai or Mali - the certainty of it gives you security). Oh...yes. Good point. This guy may have some problem that goes way deeper than just being a screw up. When someone with a personality disorder becomes a fanatic in a particular religion they can become a tremendous danger. I'd keep an eye on this guy. The True Believers in the church will be foolish enough to actually think he will change.

good point. I also feel sorry for the Mishies, but you're right, we should feel sorry for their victims. Of course in any religion, the 1st victims are the believers themselves. (not counting the leadership, of course, who often have additional evidence showing that what they're promoting is wrong).

Yes, absolutely they must be non-LDS. I've been going through the same thing trying to learn how to date. I was married for a long, long time. Things have really changed in the dating world.

I really feel for you. So many of us have become the designated Scapegoat in our families, myself included. How people can convince themselves of things that are completely illogical and contrary to evidence is just unbelievable, but it keeps happening. It sure seems like some families have to choose one person to pick on and blame. I know how much it hurts. I wish we could all get toge

The quote from Harold B Lee posted in this thread was certainly clear. However, the church wants to pretend to be open to differing opinions, so it needs to allow some people to call themselves progressives. I do think we need to be careful on this site not to suggest everyone here is a Liberal, or even 99% are Liberals. I think many people when they 1st leave the church go to Liberal pol
