I'm planning my first trip to Hawaii this year and have looked up the polynesian culture center. It seems like it would be a fun experience but I don't know if I want to support something owned by the church. The price is 150 to 250 a ticket which is steep! Do they try to sell the church to you at the pcc? Because if so I definitely won't waste my time and money. And my parents still say this chu

My husband and I moved back to Utah right before covid started and moved back in with parents temporarily while we were saving for a house. Since moving back I started receiving a monthly gift from my assigned visiting teacher. The gifts have included gift cards, a dozen roses, and a today a mother's day gift, which was just a reminder how I wished I was already a mom but am not one. Are these gi

My husband and I fell on some hard times this past year (before this virus happened) and moved back to Utah to be with my folks. They have been having sacrament meeting every Sunday morning in their Sunday best. My husband and I used to go out for breakfast and get out of the house but now everything is closed and we're awkwardly downstairs waiting for them to be done. I can say I'm glad they don

Hello! It's been a while since I've posted on here. I have a family member getting married in Nauvoo and while it's a bit of a drive for me to go there, I decided it would still be good to see some family members I haven't seen in a while. I'm not sure how this will go...will it feel strange being in Nauvoo since I'm no longer a member? There will be several others who can't go in the temple so I

Hi guys! It's been a while since I've posted anything to this board but I still frequent it quite a bit. Has anyone here had any luck with going to therapy after leaving mormonism? I feel like I could really benefit from it because of multiple things that happened to me with the church but also some personal stuff as well. Were you able to find anyone that worked for you? My main concern is cost

I'm not an out spoken person so it definitely puts me in an awkward spot especially if people come to our door. Luckily I'm busy enough with 2 jobs and full time school that I'm hardly ever home even if they were to try and come over! A couple years ago they tried coming over a couple times to my mother in laws house where I happened to be living and took the liberty of knocking down a bees nest

That is crazy!! Thanks for sharing! I'm still trying to decide if I should reply to them or keep ignoring them, as ignoring then has done me no good.

I haven't gone to church in about 6 years but every other month or so someone from the church tries to contact me. My husband and I moved several months back and I got about 3 different messages from the church asking if they could have my address, but I never responded or gave it to them, well today I had a text message saying welcome to the such and such ward when can we stop by to meet you....

Isn't there a rule somewhere about not affiliating yourself with another religion? I remember being asked this question during temple recommend interviews. I haven't been mormon in about 6 years and recently I took up a position with a catholic church, although I am not catholic. I've hesitated even mentioning this to my family.

Why is it that so many people get offended by a little bit of skin these days? I was talking to a friend at work about how I wanted to give the series True Blood a try "that show is full of sex it's so gross and so ridiculous" I've gotten similar judgmental responses about watching fifty shades a grey, and orange is the new black. Really, who cares?!

Hey everyone, I am writing a research paper on Mormonism and Freemasonry. Does anyone know of any particular books, or valid sources of information I could use?

Thank you for your replies! Some of your responces were heartbreaking :( It's amazing how absurd everything in the church is once you've gotten out of it.

I just found out last night that one of my former best friends Grandmpa passed away. This friend of mine has a Mom on a mission, so that would make this the Mom's father. My friend also has a sister on a mission. So as I was talking to her last night I asked if the sister and Mom would come home from their missions to attend the funeral since it is a very close family member. Neither of them are

Obviously when I was in the church I never had a drink. Now that I'm out I still hardly drink but today sucked balls and my husband is out tonight so I'm having my own pity party with some vodka, and wine coolers! Cheers! Hope all have a good labor day weekend!

I want to back up a little bit, just so I can sort this nonsense out in my head, and also in case any one wants to know why I left. I often wonder what I will say to my family when they finally ask me if I still have a testimony, and why I haven't gone back. I still haven't quite figured out what I will say but this is what pushed me away. I grew up in a Mormon family. My mom has served severa

I'm new to this site but have browsing it for a couple of years of now. I rasied in Utah and brought up strictly mormon. I went to church every sunday, didn't date till I was 16 and my plan was to marry a mormon boy after his mission and get married in the temple, until I dated a mormon boy who was really just awful for me, and that's how I started leaving the church. I eneded up meeting my c
