Welcome to summer days and iced coffee and chilled alcoholic beverages on the patio! Oh-and to tank tops and bikini's and anything scandalous, like a good book that isn't approved by the LDS neighborhood book clubs or by the local bishop. So I come to you my fellow heathens... I need a good book suggestion. One that doesn't take a ton of mind power but's entertaining, and one that I can

I really appreciate all of the comments here. I used this experience to teach my daughter how NOT to talk to her peers, and have a plan of action in place. =) I really do thank all of those who commented.

My 9 year old daughter was told by her classmate/friend that she wasn't thin- said to her in a mean way. When I was told the story I tried to console my daughter and tell her all of the right things I thought she should hear, but I feel unprepared since I haven't had to deal with this type of issue yet. Are there any parents out there that have had something like this happen? I want to nip this

I'm in a reading lull after finishing several new books/authors- so I decided to reread 'Outlander.' I'm really enjoying it the second time around. You?

There's several good reasons why I shut down my FB account- and some are for things like what I read this morning. My husband has an account and I occasionally get on it. I haven't looked at it for awhile but when I did today- boom. Annoyed. A family member of mine was having some sort of discussion via a link she'd posted. In her remarks made by her were these words- "If a man who

Went to breakfast and coffee with my husband this morning. I love Sunday mornings like that- where he and I can get away from the kids for an hour or so, eat a tasty bagel sandwich and sip on a latte and just share ideas, or just sit and enjoy the ambiance. I'll be roasting a chicken for dinner and making banana bread. Sundays are the best days now!

You sound like me. I have 4 kids, but I'm past the toddler/baby stage. My oldest is 13 any my baby is 7. My kids are finally able to stay at home for a few hours while my husband and I can go out or run errands. This is a good time right now. I hated being the mother of babies and young children, but we love them anyway. I think some people are better parents at different stages. My sist

I listen to the pod cast "Infants on Thrones" and if you haven't listened to the glory that is "Infants..." try it. Its really good. One of the regular contributors on there has posed the question, more than once, "are you happier outside of the church?" For some reason that question has been hanging out in the back of my mind lately. Maybe its the holidays.

Readers comments were amusing. Its best to give credit where credit is due. Like thanking a medical staff for life saving care rather than God for doing nothing. Thanks for the read this Sunday afternoon!

My little family has been out of the church for 5 years and officially out for 4. There's been absolutely no contact by ward members made on our behalf. No one. Nadda. Nothing. Dead silence. Which has been fine really, I'm not complaining. Then... This last Tuesday I get home and a ward Christmas party invitation has been shoved through our doggie door. So I'm wondering if the

I don't know what else to say that we don't already say every week. ;) You have come such a long way in the short time we've known each other. You are a brilliant, beautiful, amazing woman who was strong enough to stand up for your integrity. I can't wait to see what the next 5 years brings for you!!

I've just finished one of the best books I've read in a LONG time, maybe in my top 5 best books so far... "The Way the Crow Flies" by Ann-Marie MacDonald. The author really set the bar high and I'm struggling to want to pick up another book- I really don't want to be disappointed in my next read. I grew so attached to the characters in this latest novel! And her writing style was just

My husband and I took our kids to my parents' ward/neighborhood trunk or treat Halloween night, and one thing really stood out to my husband and I. As we were walking from car to car and interacting with the people I grew up with, one thing was SO obvious- everyone was so simple minded. They had a glazed look in their eyes, and the way they talked... they seemed uneducated and uninformed- jus

Wow Rubicon- you described some of my family to a "T." My family is bat shit crazy- and the church loves it. The church sells their snake oil cures for a mere 10% and eternal life. Its a brilliant scheme to keep people so unhappy they go back to the church for answers, finding more unhappiness, only to go back to the church for more answers, while keeping the money coming in.

I drive by the new Melaleuca headquarters building almost every day. It's a castle- like lterally. That thing is so huge and LOOKS like a damned castle. I personally know people who work for the business- not the MLM side of it but at its headquarters. While I completely disagree with Frank Vandersloot's politics, I hear he treats his employees really well. But ultimately the company is

Its taken me awhile to get with it, but I've now just discovered the gloriousness that is a podcast. I've been obsessed with Infants on Thrones. Can't. Get. Enough. http://infantsonthrones.com/ So When I'm all caught up with those, what should I listen to next? I'm up for anything.

SE Idaho. I've lived here my entire life and have a love hate relationship with it. Its very close to Yellowstone, Sun Valley, Jackson Hole, and SLC. I dread the winters tho. SE Idaho is like Utah. Tons of Mormons and a church on ever corner. This is the reason for my love hate- but we're stuck here for now so I gotta find a way to love it.

This was passed around my husbands FB feed. http://lds.net/blog/buzz/mormons-guide-starbucks/ The ridiculousness of it, I can't... its insulting!!!! Do Mormons need guidance at every turn, including a Starbucks drive thru? Herbal tea isn't even on the list- which I thought was okay? I'll continue to shake my head as I drink my green tea. Mmmmmm.

Coffee is one of the few things I've really embraced since leaving the church. I don't mind alcohol, but I could live the rest of my life without it. Coffee on the other hand is pure gloriousness to my soul. Its my small dose of happiness every day. Thank you oh wonderful universe for creating such a perfectly brilliant beverage. While I can't do drip coffee, I love a great latte. Espr

I haven't been a regular on the board for awhile so this may have come up already. I just got an invitation for a baptism- but its done like a wedding announcement, or a baby announcement. A picture of the child and text over top of the picture. Um. Seriously. Do we have to celebrate everything in life with a glamour shot announcement? We have wedding announcements, baby announcements,
