The company was called CleanFlicks, and a lawsuit from movie makers put them out of business. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CleanFlicks BYU's Varsity theater also used to censor "offensive" film content. Legal concerns stomped on that too. It would have been ironic if either of them ever had "Cinema Paradiso" among their offerings.

Heidi, Like Susan I/S, I was trying to think of the perfect thing to say: something that would comfort and be memorable and provide deserved thanks for all your contributions to the community. Sadly, I just don't have the words. And the tears in my eyes make it hard to type. Thank you for everything. I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. It's horrible. It sucks. Know that ther

Previous thread here: https://www.exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?2,2379467 I normally would have pulled a thread like this because it is off-topic, political and inflammatory. But I thought about it for a while and decided to let the thread stand. Some sub-threads did get pulled for various reasons, but most of the material is still there. I listened to all of Dr. Khilanani's talk and read a

Marriott International is a publicly-traded company. Lots of people and organizations own its stock. If you're worried, remember that they sell tons of alcohol and used to offer lots of porn. Plus the company is LGBT-friendly.

The Anno Domini system ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anno_Domini ) that we use to number our years wasn't devised until the year A.D. 525, so years before then were never numbered as such. OK, I'll do the math for you. Formula for the surface area of a sphere: A = 4 * pi * radius^2 Formula for the volume of a sphere: V = 4/3 * pi * radius^3 The Earth's radius is about 4000 miles (approximation better than1%), which is 21120000 feet. The area of the Earth is therefore about 5.6e15 square feet. The volume of the thin shell of gold (1.5 feet thick) is therefore about 8.4e15

Everyone, There's been too much bickering going on. I've asked that our posters not argue in a petty fashion with each other or make personal attacks, and yet we've been getting a lot of that lately. Please stop. Definitely do not reply to a personal attack with more personal attacks; the best thing to do is to ignore the attack and use the report feature to point out the issue to the moderati

Hi azsteve, Thank you for your thoughtful post. It sounds like you have a lot of experience in this area. Fundraising at RfM has mostly been an informal affair, partly by momentum and partly by design. We don't need large amounts of money to keep the site running, though the design is getting a little old and it would be great to be able to get some professional work done on it. We have

No one has banned you. I've just asked that you not keep posting on the same topics, over and over and over and over. The horse is dead; you can stop beating it. I personally love physics and quantum mechanics and would love more deep conversations about them on the board. The problem is that you read popularizations and don't really understand them, then you cherry pick quotes (or misquotes)

Thank you exmos! As of today, we are at over $2600, easily besting our goal and providing us with funds to keep operating for another year. We now have "sufficient for our needs", in contrast to a certain corporation with a twelve figure investment portfolio. I want to thank everyone for their kindness and generosity in donating. The exmo community continues to amaze me. CZ (teary

Like this one: https://www.exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?2,1130164 Resignation from the church is serious business, which is why we have always asked people not to pull any stunts related to it. My personal advice to anyone wanting to resign is to do it via certified mail and to have the letter notarized. Keep a copy of the letter and the certified mail receipt. That way the church can't cla

Thanks for the donation, cricket. It's always good to see you here. Ensign Peak Advisors really should be donating to RfM. A modest donation from them ($100K) is less than a millionth of what they've accumulated from tithe payers, and we're cleaning up so much damage that the church has done. That amount could keep us up and running for a long time. C'mon, EPA guys, at least consider it. Fo

Please don't call out individuals. We don't know anyone's particular circumstances or ability to pay and don't want to make anyone feel bad about the fundraiser. We're not the cult. We're here to help people. Plus I'm the only one who is allowed to make people feel guilty here. (Well... Susan I/S has perpetual permission to do so, but she guards her powers jealously.) Here's my guilt tri
