As I tend to be curious about other peoples' views on spirituality, I like to stay open-minded to the vast array of ideas on afterlife. I don't however, believe the Mormons have the right idea in terms of becoming gods and getting a planet. But whose to say? It's just another conjecture as to what happens. I suppose none of us really know until we're on that other side. For me I've al

I agree with you, Mormons do not have a monopoly on being fine and decent. In fact, it's really all about the person. There are good people and bad in all religions. It's the good people that get exemplified to the public , essentially used for good P.R. , which potentially makes the public see the religion as good. Myself, I was a temporary convert, (I tried the religion for 2 years, a

Was Jesus actually dead when his body was removed from the stake? The Bible account states that Joseph of Arimathea asked for Jesus' body, Pilate wondered if He was dead, per the centurion Pilot sent it was ascertained that he was. It is possible that Jesus was not. This of course leads to many other thoughts pertaining to Jesus life or death.

I have continued my research on a variety of topics and come to the conclusion that any religion that has based belief on the Bible as being 100% the way to live life is to be questioned. Many of you may have already found these things yourself, but it's fairly recent research for me. Feel free to share your thoughts my Friends. Questions, Researches and Discoveries: Are Genesis chapter 1 a

I was just adding additional information about AIDS. I don't believe that virtually a whole generation was wiped out. That's stupid. I know plenty of gay men from all age groups, they are alive and well thankfully, despite being a target group along with plenty of ethnic groups as well.

If you like facts - you'll hate these ones too; http://rense.com/general38/made.htm It's heartbreaking to see someone die of AIDS. It's a horrible, humiliating, degenerative disease. I held my gay brother's hand when he took his last breath. I started getting educated about it before he died so I could assist in his care. I tried to find anything that might save his life. A few year

I asked two sets of missionaries back in the day. They didn't know. Most intersex people identify as one gender or the other. What a thing really - to have a choice, (as long as your parents didn't choose for you).

People that can fall victim to cults are not necessarily weak individuals. The article and website "HowCultsWork" states; "Many cult members are very intelligent, attractive and skilled. The reality is that all sorts of people are involved in cults. One of the few common denominators is that they were often recruited at a low point in their life ..." It covers a l

My wife and I got into quite a heated discussion with her brother about the fact that it is in the current priesthood manuals that it is advised that men marry within their own race, etc.

You're correct, JW's disfellowship. It is equivalent to excommunication. JW's believe you are dead spiritually and will never see you in their new order, so they treat you like you are dead and shun you. It's cruel.

How about this almostThere, still your fears. Throw out all doctrines and get to the space of peace. Pray to the Deity of Your understanding - talk as you would to a great friend about your Dad and pray he goes where he need to go with peace and love. Where ever he is supposed to go, the higher powers can guide him. If there are still things for him to learn or do, that's where he'll go. If it's

I think the church is afraid of the forensic analysis that started to be done in 2001. It showed bullet holes in uncovered skulls that belonged to women and children. Which would not match the accounts of the women and children being blugdeoned and killed by the Indian's knives. Some of the people that got killed still had garments on? Wow, this is sick.

Well and remember, when doing hypnosis, (according to various Hypnotists), to put someone into that suggestive state of mind, you need to speak slow, monotone and repetitive.

I intend to read those, thanks Twinker. I found this; a calculator at westegg (dot) com I was trying to figure out how much the $70,000 items and such value would be compared to now-a-days; In 1857 $70,000 would be almost 2 million dollars in 2011.

I believe ultimately that it is up to the powers that be. If a person really believes that what they are doing is right and they are striving to be their best, Maybe it's "E" for effort and a chance to find out what was really right. It's kinda like when a person uses the "Adam and Eve" example. Eve sinned because she was truly deceived. In her heart and mind, (right

Yep! This movie pissed me off beyond words I can speak on this forum! And I did find the briefly available list of donators. I was dismayed to see the names of local people I had gotten to liking a few years back. So, so sad. And it's not like they don't employ enough biologist, scientist and such to know how the human body works. It's all about stupid control and keeping people at each other's

I can't seem to stop thinking about this atrocity. I saw the movie and read dozens of articles to compare various facts. I think there were more than enough facts and affidavits to at least take the seat of Governor away from Brigham Young. How horrible they had to of been, those that carried out the killing, to stand and look someone in the eye and murder them. My Gosh! And I am so mo

For the person that commented about getting help. Cool for you. You obviously had a really kind Bishop. From what I have learned, it is up to the Bishop to follow these guidelines. We asked for help and got a reduced food order once. The Bishop we had before we left was completely without compassion and this would be so up his ally. He was upset when we said we couldn't clean the church,

So when you're home alone, with no entertainment, no money for gas, (I guess you're walking in -15 degrees weather to visit your assignments), you'll be reading books, (can't afford to go "further education" with no money). I guess a person will have to insist that if they live in a "cardboard box" apartment, they'll need their landlords to put insulation in the walls so t

I concur with the list that heretic listed from Melissa Karmaze's blog. I was raised a JW from the age of 6 until I finally knew I had to leave when I was 22. I am more recently an ex-mormon. There are a lot of similarities; Both religions do claim they are the ONLY TRUE religion and that the Holy Spirit is only with their religion. As a teenager that spent a lot of time in the librarie

You know, I'm really sad for a friend of mine who can't seem to get on with her life and just be fine because the church has ingrained into her mind that she must have a Priesthood holder to be fine. My wife and I left the Mormon church a few months ago and it's a slow process of reaching our friends with why. What is interesting to me is that, while I was a member, during my Priesthood int
