After two of our babies died several family members asked me if I thought God did it to bring my less-active wife back to church.

I was dubbed a "campus missionary" by my mission president. I served on LSU's campus. We (my companion and I) often represented the Student Union at these types of events, knowing full well it was dishonest to do so. We knew that only enrolled students should be representing the groups, but we did anyway. Lying for the Lord was my M.O. on my mission. Sad, sad, sad!!!

Do you think Moroni regrets not retreiving the Book of Abraham papyri when he took back all the other important relics? I mean of all the things for him to leave behind. I bet Jesus was pissed!

I am so happy for you. I left last year at this time. Basically the same story. Studied my way out in under a month. It is so great to hear your story! Thank you for sharing

My wife suggested I post this here. I write poetry and recently wrote about my current feelings after leaving the church. Feel free to critigue, laugh at, ignore, or comment on it. LIFE AFTER FAITH Leaving faith for wisdom pure to learn my heart, no more obscure and meet my soul in clarity to view myself with charity "Here I am!" No longer buried; With passion, thought

I was an AP for 6 months. I have no GA connections at all. I was uber obedient and hardworking. If that constitutes brown-nosing then I guess I did, but didn't intentionally do anything to get the position.

I was a married, temple worthy, male, an Elder, and completely active. I confessed to masturbation and viewing porn for a two year period. I was forbidden to take the sacrament, speak in church, or give prayers, as well as forbidden to attend the temple for almost 3 months. Just curious how long others were given...

I was joking around with my wife earlier today when I had the idea to take all our old garments, temple clothes, white dress shirts, etc and make a quilt out of them to casually whip out when TBM family comes over to visit. I would call it the Guilt Quilt since so much of my membership was spent feeling guilty . . .

My patriarchal blessing states, "because of your faithfulness in the pre-existence you were given the privilege of being born in a home where the gospel is loved and where it is lived."

. . . the temple handshakes. Last night my wife and our 4 kids were all talking when I jokingly grabbed my wife's hand in the patriarchal grip. I said to my 12 and 11 year old, "hey, wanna see the secret handshakes we did in the temple?" They actually seemed really interested and we showed them. We explained that doing those handshakes with God and giving him the secret passwords (which

As I have stated on here before, my newobrn daughter lay dying in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit from a condition known as Fetal Hydrops. This was less than a year after we burried our newborn son. As a temple worthy priesthood holder I laid my hands on her head and demanded by the Holy Melchizadek Priesthood and through Jesus Christ that she live. She died 2 hours later in our arms.

If you want a great, current example of mind control from the top watch this video of one of the Apostles, Neil L Anderson in the most recent General Conference in October. Go to about 10:40 in his talk and wait for what he tells the youth of the church to do. For those who don't want to watch it he tells the youth to read Joseph's Smiths account of the first vision and then record themselves tel

ABSOLUTELY!!! I wouldn't hesitate if I were you so long as you're comfortable with everyone knowing. I had one guy I have never met call me in tears over what he was going through internally and he said my post gave him the courage to leave someday.

Roslyn, what I didn't consider was that the friends of my friends would see their responses. That's the source of the 18 people I didn't know.

Twistedsister, I don't know why our experiences were so different. The tactic I used was posting a link to the SL Tribune's article about the essay and the comment, "glad to see the church owning up to some of its past." This generated responses because an all out attack would have turned off half the TBMs. What this did was put them in defense mode since they wanted to clarify points a

I agree. I honestly thought I was just gonna piss people off. I had no idea it would generate the sentiments it did. I was TOTALLY shocked!

I totally feel for you cludgie. I didn't bother to mention how many people I pissed off. I also got tons of private and public messages from family and friends who were so upset that I would "attack" the church publicly. It has made for a very tense family situation, but I'm at the point that I don't care anymore. I think your efforts have done more than is readily apparent.

I recently "came out" as ex-mo on facebook. This is what I learned after posting a rant on the polygamy essay through private messages: 1. My cousin, an attourney and son of a current stake pres is leaving the church. 2. Three former mission companions have left or are in the process of leaving. 3. My young men's president growing up, no longer believes and says he will leave

To me, it would be worth it if it simply forced the church to acknowledge that it pays its top 15. That would be another shocking revelation to church members.

You'll have to forgive my ignorance. My expertise is in healthcare/surgery and not law. Had I known that the top 15 were paid I would have done the following: 1. Quit the church 2. Stoppped paying tithing (I only paid because the church told me it went to building the kingdom, and specifically stated we have no paid ministry) 3. Not served a mission (this was costly for me) 4. Not
