Ayn Rand, in a 1970 essay entitled "The Comprachicos" (roughly meaning "the child buyers"), addressed a similar situation... "The purposeful, disciplined use of his intelligence is the highest achievement possible to man: it is that which makes him human. The higher the skill, the earlier in life its learning should be started. The same holds true in reverse, for tho

Elder Berry, I always enjoy your postings on this board. Your concern is universally understood among the respondents so far. Let me tell you what I did when one of my offspring was preparing to go on a mission: I wrote a letter to the bishop & stake president that said, in effect, my offspring had better be assigned to a United States mission, or I would not allow them to go. Simple a

I'm quite certain that they (the First Presidency and Q12) have been "coached" to not give a reaction to any objection...their worst nightmare would be realized if somebody in attendance got video of one or more GA personnel gasping or looking incredulous when one of us apostates stood up and yelled "Opposed!" It's all about image for those asshats: the fake-smiles, pretend-

So what are the chances that Bishop's family does NOT know about this yet? After reading the transcript, he seemed very concerned that his family would find out about his "activities" involving young sisters... There has had to be somebody who has reached out to a member of Bishop's family, "out of concern," to tell them that they heard something about this guy. Wow.

Don't be expecting an apology anytime soon...just remember the prophetic words of Dallin Oaks on the topic of apologies: "The church doesn't seek apologies, and we don't give them."
