This is so sad. Unless it was P-day, I can't help but think of those dorky dress shoes all missionaries are required to wear. No tread, no traction. Pure slippage on wet, mossy cliff rocks. Again, so sad.

Why didn't they hug?! Why did the parents not embrace and laugh and kiss when Dad finally understood he was getting their long-awaited baby girl??? In fact the couple didn't even touch once. I've seen these videos before and it always ends with a VICTORY HUG after the final reveal. Instead mom just casually started picking up trash. Weird.

Waking up to a nightmare. I am concerned for my safety. I'm not going to write for a while but I am reading the stellar advice here. (I'd be interested to hear what Beth wants to say). I love RfM. What a remarkable corner of the universe we have here. Love to you all.

Amazing, amazing thread cl2. This one needs to be archived. I saw some kind of online news report on Josh and Lolly Weed today. I read their entire story (followed them years ago when they insisted they had a successful "mixed marriage" and others could too). Didn't believe it then, don't believe it now. I guess I was right. You and I talked about these issues for years, as you kn

...A serious question I've often asked myself. The best answer I've been able to come up with is "tomorrow." Life has a way of surprising us. We really, really don't know what might happen tomorrow. Change is the only constant in life. I stick around to find out what happens next.

Nope, nope, and NOPE. It's the R.S. sisters with a ***** up their behinds! I'll never forget the Come-to-Jesus meeting I had with the R.S. Prez when she called me as one of her counselors. I had JUST given birth and my maternity garments were too big. My old G's were too small as I hadn't yet lost the baby weight. So I gathered up my oldie-goldie panties from pre-Mormon days and hoped for the

My son should have gone on a mission two years ago at age 18 but instead he joined the army (we resigned from the church shortly after he was baptized at age 8). He's a natural leader, and probably would have ended up as a ZL if he'd been a missionary. Instead, he is stationed as an Honor Guard in Washington D.C. and his official title is "Escort to the President." He has protected t

Lordy. So here I am today, driving down my street on the way home in a tropical afternoon Florida thunderstorm. I spot 2 LDS missionaries hurrying down the sidewalk on the way to the ward house. I think about offering them a ride, but since I'm an apostate I know from experience that they won't get in the car. So I watch them approach...miserable, wet, looking like they'd rather be just abo

I was moved by your story Sheldon. I am a convert, so my path was different. But I can relate to that moment on the internet when everything suddenly clicked and I knew the church was false. I've been here at RfM for over a decade, on and off, and I can promise you that I've seen your exact same experience expressed by posters over and over again....The only differences have been in the ending

Brave, articulate, composed young lady...she will go far in life. It's been a decade since I've been in a Mormon sacrament meeting and I'd forgotten how noisy the kids are, and how bored and inattentive the adults can appear. It honestly looked to me like NOBODY was even paying attention to Savanna's testimony until the mic got shut off. Then everything went dead silent as the members of the c

Amyjo, has it occurred to you that the young woman might actually LIKE sex? It doesn't seem as if cold dodger is forcing her or manipulating her in any way. She's a grown woman (25!). Good grief again.... ;o)

Finally Free, That was a brilliant response! You nailed it. I am a former mental health counselor and I have a daughter in her 20's with raging BPD right now. I'm exhausted from non-stop crises for the past year and a half. The emotional similarities between BPD and Mormonism are astonishing, as you so aptly outlined it. Just one thing niggles at me about the comparisons however. As I'm sur

Yes...During the last couple of years of my 23-year temple marriage. When our family left the church, my JackMormon husband saw it as a huge opportunity to "party" without the constraints of the WOW. First he resurrected his dormant alcoholism, then he developed a cocaine habit. He lost his job, medical license, our house, cars...everything. I had gobs of kids (many adopted with s

Right here! Wow...I have a fan!!! woot! I don't post often but I lurk here every day. My Russian daughter, Sasha, finally grew up after a few rough years. I just got back from coloring Easter eggs with her, her husband, and their new baby girl. Sasha spent some time battling substance abuse, but I'm happy to report she is clean and sober and an absolute delight to be around these days (we
