You are a Godless atheist! Holy crap, how many babies have you eaten lately? You have no morals at all if you are an atheist. There are no rules without God. Obviously exaggerated, but that is more or less how some Mormons view atheists. They think this way because they just haven't thought about it. I have even talked to inactive Mormons that say atheists have no morals.

My mom gave my dad the ultimatum - join the church or I won't marry you. He still smoked etc., but they got married and were happy. They didn't pay tith and after church my dad took us golfing etc... My mom was cool about it and let him be so it worked out, but that was before we knew the cult really is a cult and JS was the best con man on the planet in the 1800s. My dad even sat in the bas

The titles are just another form of control. You are a brother or sister so you better act like it! In our stake people also refer to anyone that has ever been a bishop as "bishop." We even had a guy get up and bear his testimony saying he used to be a bishop and wanted to continue to be called bishop. This is the most scary to me - that someone would want to be called bishop.

For me the doctrines are all now a big pile of steaming BS. The hard thing is to give up is there are people that I would not have otherwise met that I consider friends. I don't see these people much unless I am out walking or running etc., in the neighborhood. There are also lots of people I don't have to tolerate anymore - which is great. I guess the easy sense of community is what I m

The same basic thing is used in science classes at BYUI. www.byui.edu/Documents/instructional.../Dan%20moore.pdf‎ scroll to pages 4 and 5 for the box charts. The message is: You can reconcile science and religion because "we don't know everything, but someday (when we die) we will learn the truth." They promote the wrong idea that the gospel includes all truth and thereby c

Based on my experience with BYUI there are plenty of keyed-up faculty and staff that would see a position as bishop or Stake Pres as a way to move up the ladder. I have seen work related emails from BYUI staff and in the signature page and it includes stuff like: Nephi Christensen BYUI faculty coordination 26th Ward Executive Secretary BYUI is very bureaucratic, self-righteous institutio

How about saying.. Hmmmm, we had WWI, WWII, cold war, I lived though 911, huge stock market crash in 2008 etc... I know boat people who fled Vietnam in the 70s. Talk about a personal apocalypse, but guess what, it was very hard but they are living a great life in Boise ID - of all places -. BTW we don't live in the third world country with an unstable gov't. I'm still here, you are sti

When they came to my house they asked me if I was going to Heaven and if I sin etc. I told them I reject all religions, and science is the answer the worlds questions. They just walked away.

So I guess this means Adam and Eve and their kids that lived incredibly long lives (900 + years) and likely had hundreds of children, populated Missouri for about 2200 years or until the time of Noah's flood. Then, after the flood, Noah started the whole thing over again in the middle east. Anybody want to go dig round in Missouri and see if we can find the bones of Adam, Seth etc.,and do a

If the B of M were true it would be most important book ever written in terms of archeology and understanding the origins of Am Indians. There would be lots of money spent on DNA matching of Indians and middle eastern peoples. It would be a done deal and common knowledge by now, and the church would probably have hundreds of millions of members. HOWEVER, the science community does not use th

Unbelievable that the LDS church still promotes the Biblical flood story as literal. http://www.lds.org/ensign/1998/01/the-flood-and-the-tower-of-babel. The Ensign article above overlooks almost 200 years worth of data gathering and trashes the entire field of geology. It's okay to fill your tank with gas thanks to geologists, but don't come to me when your ideas conflict with the Bibl

Can't wait for a Plato's cave post. Millions of Mo's are snug in the cave, and lots of people on this post have found the way out.

Great post. The idea of Socrates in seeking virtue is much different than LDS Inc's emphasis on judging "goodness" based on following rules and the dictates of one of the current 15 liars. Some posts on this webpage encourage honesty and virtue more than you will ever see in the Ensign. Its amazing how the church gives lip service to virtue, but focus's on the cash. The more money

The Book of Answers to Everything by Jeremy Griffiths of the World Transformation Movement. It explains why religion is obsolete in a modern world. This is a great read for anyone who is out or wants to be out and is looking for a little relief.

Great post. Though we are not out due to DW and family considerations, DW is completely okay with giving to valid charities instead of LDS Inc, and we have had great experiences and made some real friends. DW in particular has been taken by how accepted and valued she has been by the sinful, wine bibbing non-members. I would greatly enjoy hearing how you got your family out - resigned in

I guess I have to assume the women who are pushing for the p-hood don't know it's all made-up BS, but it seems unlikely. Someone should talk with these ladies and tell them not to waste their time.

Does anyone have a story or information about church employees (BYU, BYUI, BYUH etc.) losing jobs because they lost the temple recommend. If you don't pay up, no recommend, and no recommend = no job. I also hear the morg is cracking down on the electronic payments to the church and bishops can now request an itemized record - not just a yes or no statement. I'm guessing there are lots o

Back in the day before I "Broke Bad" I was the ward "meetinghouse specialist." I hated it and most of all hated asking people to do it. We had the duty every third month, so my wife and I cleaned the church by ourselves a lot for two years. I didn't see Jesus appear to me in the chapel as I was humbly cleaning away, but believe it or not there are a few people that love cle

A middle aged, male TMB ward choir member (in my stake all the big shot TBMs are in the ward choir) sang his testimony. The bishopic members and most people in the chapel had their heads down trying not to laugh. Towards the end of the singing, my daughter whispered "there will be a CD available at the door," and I completely lost it and laughed out loud. Once I laughed everyone aroun

A friend who is out also submitted papers for his son. After a while the Bish just suddenly showed up while they had people over. His wife came to the door and told the bish to take off. Apparently, he did not like being asked to leave and she said "Oh, by the way, as soon as my mom dies, I'm out too." I love these people! They are my heros!

I agree this has a long lasting affect on kids. My younger kids are getting a much different experience/education about this than my older kids (we trash the hell out of the "authority" when it acts manipulative). One reason we are not out is because of how the spouses of my older kids might react.

We need to get this message out to kids. Its about the human condition or the struggle of good and evil. Instead of the manufactured religious BS its all science. http://www.worldtransformation.com/ This is NOT a religion, and it is also not new age BS.

If I went on with the kids for the interview that would be a BIG red flag to the powers that be. I can't see that happening with us. We would be totally out before than will happen.

Thank goodness our extended families would not do anything like this, but we have people in our ward that I'm sure think we are horrible parents and they know what is best for our kids. Our daughter went with relatives on vaca the same week as girls camp and we got the stink eye for that one. We also did not make our kids go on the idiotic trek. What a stupid waste of time. At least go clim
