My parents couldn't figure out how to put locks on the cable they ordered in the mid 90's. They did, however, buy this pyramid looking device that would make them able to spy on whatever us kids were watching in the basement, on the top level of the house in their bedroom. They could also just switch the channel on you if you were watching something they deemed as bad. It even transferred whateve

Were you badly scarred? I do paramedical tattooing and scar revision. A saline treatment can resurface a scar and make it softer, more flexible. Some also request pigment to match the gaps. Others want to have the appearance of having their body or facial hair back. It brings back their sense of self after a disfigurement. It is truly a gift. I got into this field because I too have been burne

Thanks Shannon. I also agree that it is difficult to tell the severity of the wounds without admiring them personally. However; I'm admittingly only judgemental of mormons anyhow, but that's only because I'm a survivor(and a lady at that ;) Plus my film degree gets in the way. I over analyze technical details I see on the cathode ray.

I am an ex surgical tech, with over a decade of experience in the body modification industry as well (I've worked with many burn survivors as a micropigmentologist). As we all know, burns are incredibly painful. They are the f**kn worst! A day after large 3rd degree burns?? This guys face would be puffy, streaked with purple, bloodshot eyes and mouth leaking, and he would be mostly unable to s

I had to wait in or around a hot vehicle on blistering asphalt in the Las Vegas heat for all three of my siblings 'weddings'. I felt like an unwanted accessory, isolated to the core, and was already having severe self-esteem issues. As the baby, I was much younger than them, and was the first & only rebellious child to question the gospel several years prior. I had seen my oldest brother

From what I have read, a man who has been infected can pass it to his partner through sexual contact (semen), though the virus only lives in infected people for two weeks. So a man traveling abroad can give it to a partner on return. It is recommended to wear condoms for 3 weeks after traveling to infected countries. http://www.counterpunch.org/2016/02/02/pandoras-box-how-gm-mosquitos-could-

Drink it any way you want! Experiment! Sweet tea is generally served cold, over ice (commonly with a wedge of lemon) as a refreshing summer beverage. I personally like fresh, hot brewed tea of any kind, especially with a dash of cream and honey. My daily beverage, however; is yerba mate. A South American herbal staple that is brewed loose and drunk through a metal filter straw called a bomb

I plunged right into the body mod movement after I left the church. I got my ears pierced for the first time at 17 and started stretching them. My 'Buddha' lobes are now not as large as they used to be, but my long standing answer to my parents and potential employers that have a "one earring per ear policy" remains the same. "It IS technically just 1 earring!" The emp

Yes, I had the longest gap in awkward forced communication with my mega TBM parents ever.... 6 months. Just ended because my aunt died on the solstice. It definitely felt like a "we're not going to call you until you call us first" type experiment. My brother said the same thing.

I have tended to favor the true traditional pagan tree, hung upside down from the rafters, with allowance to spin freely, and covered in wood, bone, & feather ornaments. But this year I dragged in a shapely wind felled dead tree from the park, spray painted it white to pewter, then wound it with purple lights. Now it's topped with a plastic articulated vulture. I think it's my best tree ye

I am currently reading the Kristin Lavransdatter trilogy by Sigrid Undset. I. The Wreath, II. The Wife III. The Cross These books are newly translated from Norwegian and are based on real families in post-Christian Norway in the 1300's. The author won a Nobel prize for the first one, written in 1920. Not for everyone, it follows a method of prose(my bff said she felt like she was reading J

Yep. Staggering.I feel ya kid. When I was your age I was the youngest of four and was the only one stuck in the nest, since I was the late accident, or mistake depending on the day you asked... Throughout my life I have come to my Dad to talk to him about my own battles with depression. You would think that living with a severely Borderline and schizophrenic woman for so long would give him in

There is a documentary about this very kind of thing available now on Netflix that I found absolutely fascinating. Kumare: The true story of a false prophet Its about an Indian college student from NJ who turns himself into a "guru" and conducts a very scary cult experiment in AZ. Every single one of us should watch it. http://www.kumaremovie.com/

Hang in there Jonny! Any chance that someone could bring you some herbal mullein tea? It is a common herb that soothingly coats the lungs and eases inflammation, similar to slippery elm. Loose leaf tea can sometimes be found in health food stores. Tincture of it is pretty easy to find at most drugstores or health food stores. A squirt or two can be added to any hot beverage. I take it whenever I

Now hold on just a minute. My "new friend" was a 63 yro florist who lived next door with his herbalist wife, hardly a drug dealer. I'm just thankful that someone noticed that my truck hadn't left the driveway for 6 weeks. There was no 'trip'. My body relaxed, I stopped coughing, & I went to sleep. My first night without sleep paralysis in weeks. The next day his wife brought me a

What I spent wasn't a lot or out of control in the grand scheme of things, but it was to me at the time. I was technically homeless for 4 yrs, living out of a vehicle and tent on peoples properties working, but still tried to buy 70-100 bucks worth of ammo every 2-4 of months until I started reloading. It was mostly so I could keep my skills up I think. I thought that was more important than

The Doomsday thing was the only thing that lingered from my childhood indoctrination. I still considered myself a prepper survivalist up until a few years ago even though I left the church 18 yrs ago. I've found a few friends who are the same. It's kind of what we would call a "Doom Generation" thing. I feel like I had romanticized the coming of an armageddon, and looked forward to

I had it when I was alone and living in a new city at 24. The only thing that helped was a humidifyer, lots of ginger tea & kombucha, & I managed to do some warm castor oil compresses under a heating pad on my chest at night. That was very soothing. A new friend also brought over a small lump of pure unprocessed opium from his poppy garden and instructed me to eat it. Honestly, that

First wrong notion for me came at 5. The Sunbeam teacher (or whatever we were at that age) said that the devil had been trying to sway me if I preferred a cool soothing sensation when something moved me, rather than the burning of the bosom. Not long after I began to feel resentment at the fact that I would never hold the priesthood because I was a girl. In fact, all the calling for submissivenes

Dad: "Should I send him(my new Chilean boyfriend) a copy of the BoM? Me: "No!...why would he want that?" Dad: "Because I thought he would be interested in learning about his heritage" Me: *dumbfounded pause* " Honestly dad, I'm sure he already has a copy because he collects bogus religious propaganda. Also, he's half Italian." At this point my Dad i

I am 32 and have never been able to hold down a steady job due to anxiety/depression problems despite the fact I am a very hard & reliable worker. I eventually freak out if there is one little thing about the job that doesn't suit me, or people I don't get along with, after about 6 months & a fear begins to creep. I just stop going. In short, my reputation sucks in the department, unle

I was also aghast when I saw the first one a few years ago & remember thinking, these books were written for 11 yros?? Keep in mind I love horror & violent exploitation films...but this one is ripped off of a much better, much more violent movie made in Japan 12 yrs prior (Battle Royale) You could let her read the crappy novels and paint her own picture?.. The only thing my mother did
