"The LDS church doesn't get to decide what issues are political or not" Exactly. That would be like a pedestrian getting hit by a car then having someone ask why the pedestrian ran into the car when the pedestrian was standing still and the car was going 40 MPH.

For example (since people are complaining about the issue of gay marriage): The LDS Church has always opposed gay marriage on theological grounds (from its creation) before it became a political issue. Just because they continue to follow their religion on an issue that has become political doesnt make them political. Its like when Ronald Reagan said I didnt leave the Democrat party. The Democrat

Explain how the LDS Church's policies are the same around the world regardless of the politics of the city state or country where the member lives. If their motivation is Utah politics then why would they have the exact same policy in Chile? Why have the same policy in Chile and Mexico when their politics are very different? The LDS Church doesnt change its beliefs based on which politica

"That ranking says nothing whatsoever about whether or not the church exerts political influence on its members." Well considering that you didnt offer any proof at all that the LDS Church forced anyone to support a candidate or party or disciplined anyone for not supporting a candidate or party there was nothing to refute to begin with. The only thing the LDS Church forces people to

The LDS Church makes statements. Those statements may be about political issues but the reason why they are making the statement is because of their theology not because of politics. Big difference. The theology of the LDS Church is the same around the world regardless of the politics of the country the member lives in.

It sounds like Sen. Gordon Smith is endorsing the LDS Church not the LDS Church is endorsing Sen. Gordon Smith. There is a huge difference there. Notice that the LDS Church is just being talked about. It isnt doing the talking.

The basis for your argument is that the actions of the members equals the actions of the LDS Church and equals the actions of the Utah State Government. I dont think that is true at all. From my understanding it is legal to have an abortion in Utah. https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title76/Chapter7/76-7-S302.html?v=C76-7-S302_1800010118000101#76-7-302(3) Does the LDS Church say they oppose abor

"and which LDS representatives are expected to go along with." What do you mean by LDS representatives? The leadership represents the LDS Church. When members vote for a governmental representative it doesnt have anything to do with the LDS Church. Just because the LDS Church leaders talked to Government leaders doesnt mean there is this huge conspiracy going on. Just because the

The LDS Church has members of all political persuasions. The LDS Church has never to my knowledge excommunicated anyone for voting for a political candidate. Neither has the LDS Church to my knowledge endorsed a political candidate in the last 100 years. In fact the LDS Church has a policy of not endorsing political candidates. The LDS Church has members around the world and most of them woul

That is probably because you typed "Mormon" into Google or Youtube. Google tracks your searches and uses them to determine which ads you might be interested in. Those ads are probably Google ads since Google is the biggest advertisement company online.

The troubling part of this report for the Mormons is that the 19 missions being closed are in the first world while the 5 missions being opened are in Africa and the Philippines... This is just the LDS Church trying to prop itself up with large third world baptism rates...

Mormons claim they have a living prophet so that he can answer our questions about the Gospel. Yet when actual questions are asked the living prophet is nowhere to be found and remains completely silent. They are losing 75% of their youth ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IPDMdiBJPE ) and they stay silent.

That is an interesting question considering all the non-consensual sealings that go on almost daily in the Temples around the world. People who were never married are sealed to random Temple workers to complete their Temple work. This is spiritual polygamy and even offensive to claim that someones ancestors are now married to a Mormon without their consent.

@Badassadam1 You need to put up a Do Not Trespass sign for legal reasons. I put one up but I still got door to door salesmen knocking on my door. The advantage of having the sign is that you are legally protected. That way if you want to take action you can. Technically they shouldnt be knocking on your door to begin with but what you can do is answer the door with a camera filming, Point to

@ificouldhietokolob You didnt say "Pathological liar". You just said liar. You could add pathological to anything to make it a psychological condition. But that isnt what you said. Again. You said "liars". You just play fast and loose with the truth while trying to bully others on this board. Its pathetic.

@ificouldhietokolob, you specifically called people who claim to have spiritual experiences "LIARS". LIAR is not a psychological designation! It is no different from calling someone stupid. You should know that! Instead of debating the facts you name call and distort everything. You misrepresented what I said. You misrepresented what the Wikipedia article said that I posted. You have a

@ificouldhietokolob, I didnt misrepresent the article. Anyone can click on the link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historicity_of_Jesus and read "While there is widespread scholarly agreement on the existence of Jesus,[46][48] and a basic consensus on the general outline of his life," and "Nearly all modern scholars of antiquity agree that Jesus existed and most biblical schol

Events generally accepted as historical 1. Jesus was a Galilean Jew. 2. His activities were confined to Galilee and Judea. 3. He was baptized by John the Baptist. 4. He called disciples. 5. He had a controversy at the Temple. 6. Jesus was crucified by the Romans near Jerusalem.[13][76] 7. After his death his disciples continued. 8. Some of his disciples were persecuted.[13][76] Sourc

@ificouldhietokolob, You said you never called anybody any names but your reply to my comment called anybody who claims to be talking to Jesus a "liar" or a "delusional" person who deserves to be locked up in a loony bin. @Badassadam1, there is a meme put out by unsophisticated atheists that Jesus was never a real historical person. But actual historians atheist or otherwise disagree. For example, atheist Bart Ehrman wrote a book called Did Jesus Exist?: The Historical Argument for Jesus of Nazareth in which he explains why Jesus was a real person. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Did_Jesus_Exist%3F_(Ehrman)

Here we go again with the childish responses... Yes, I read it. That is why I said it is hard to say because it all depends on how literally you want to take the "about" part. Try to use your brain before you post sarcastic and insulting responses. At least try to act like you have some sense and dignity. As the apostles spread the Gospel they were teaching ABOUT Jesus because t
