Hongos. Oh man, memories. That's spanish for fungus. I served in south america, I had to take pills to help fight the crotch rot. It was horrible. I used so much powder, everything I could. But I still spent half of my mission with horrible fungus.

I agree. It's BS. I just think that is how some people are rationalizing it.

That's funny. I only tried taking a shot once. I think it will be a while before I do that again. It was some expensive Patron tequila. It went in like water, went down like fire. I about choked.

I wouldn't say I like it, it was just the best tasting beer that I forced myself to drink. Like I said, i am trying hard to like beer.

I have talked to some people about it that are still in the church. I am trying to understand why it doesn't bother them. I have heard from a few people that have been told that the mall will generate income that the church can use for charitable purposes. 5 Billion, even invested poorly, would give a 250 million dollar a year return. Is it possible that the mall will generate more revenue than t

I love that link Fetal Deity. It shows how JoD can be used whenever they want as long as it is not used against them. Only then is it not inspired.

Don't give up too soon, it takes a bit. I have only been drinking for a year, mainly drink socially. I have never actually been drunk. Start with mixed drinks - mojito, mudslide, white russian, rum and coke, stuff like that. I am trying to acquire the taste for beer, not quite there yet. I think Guinness is my favorite so far.

I am about to get divorced, my wife is moving out on Saturday. I have a young son. I blame the church for encouraging me to get married to someone I barely knew. My life sucks right now, but, it sucked a hell of a lot more two years ago when I was in the church. What I am living right now is painful, but it is going to be worth it. And, my son will hopefully have the chance to see me and m

The initiatory is when you receive the garment and "blessings" that go with it. You can read all about it here: http://www.ldsendowment.org/initiatory.html

Thanks everyone for the advice. I didn't give very much information to go off of. I started down the exmormon road that leads to atheism. And I like that road. My wife, as soon as I stopped going to church, headed down the jack mormon road. Part of my fear is that I don't know where she stands with the church, nor does she. I am trying to prepare for her going back to the church, but hope she

Reality is setting in. Though not directly caused by my apostasy, my wife and I have decided the time has come to end our marriage. Fortunately, we are focused on doing what is best for our 4 year old son. One item that has come up through the mediation process is my desire to include in the divorce decree something that says he cannot go to a religious function without both of us agreeing. The m

I believe it holds 22,000. I know it is hard for anyone in Utah to get tickets. I believe the church sends out tickets to the stakes in the world, and then locally. There is also a large section up front reserved for family members of the general authorities. Then, day of, they fill in the rest with people that wait in line for standby tickets.

It could be something far simpler. I work in IT in Salt Lake City. One of the companies that sells products to us was hinting that they were working on signing a deal with TSCC. They are an internet security appliance manufacturer. They produce firewalls that also can act as content filters and such. They were hinting that the church is evaluating a distributed installation of their product, a fi

This would be an awesome law to pass here in the states. Another post made me look for a picture of the Preston, England temple. Found this article. http://www.mormonlawyers.com/2008/11/preston-england-temple-loses-tax-exempt.html

I posted several weeks back about some advice my therapist gave me to help me be comfortable drinking coffee at work. Basically, if some of the TBM's are uncomfortable, that's their problem. Not mine. I have since been enjoying my daily coffee(s) and don't care what they think. The other day, I had a breakfast meeting with one of my TBM colleagues. I ordered coffee, because that is perfectly

There was a missionary in my mission in South America (late 90s) that was caught feeling up a 13-year-old girl. There are more graphic details than that. The mission president went ballistic and told him he was going home. Then he talked to the area presidency and they told him to keep him. If they send him home, he would probably fall away from the church and he would be lost forever. At least t

When I was on my mission in South America (99 - 01), I heard a few examples of kids in south america going on missions and coming back with a debt to the ward. Typically, members or family would commit to help pay the monthly amount, but then stop paying. The ward would keep a tally on how much the missionary owed and expect him to repay it upon return.

I am having the same challenge, and I am pretty close to your age. One thing I have done that has helped is go to different support group meetings. You can find a few on meet up.com. The post-Mormon group on there has a meet up tomorrow in Draper.

Yep, you do need a temple recommend to work at the church - all the way down to the janitors at BYU. http://www.choosecharity.org/titlevii_information.htm There are two types of exemptions under Title VII. The first exemption is for religious institutions. This exemption allows any church, school, college, university, or other educational institution to hire and employ individuals of a par
