I was a just a little girl in 1960, spending my entire childhood in an integrated California community. My happy-go-lucky disposition made it difficult for me to endure conference, or any nonsensical church stuff--and I was probably looking out the window, wanting to go outside and climb the trees. If I did hear it, I would not have believed it was meant literally. I never saw a "dark"

When I left the Mormon church, literally all my Mormon ward friends and neighbors shunned me. The shunning continued for over 12 years, until I left Salt Lake. But there are still good people in the world! I was visiting family in SLC, so I drove down to Provo to attend a group reunion luncheon, held every 5 years, at a friend's beautiful house. I hadn't attended a reunion for 10 years, tho

Thank you for this! I always enjoy your train video links, Dave the Atheist. I'm not an expert on the history or operation of steam trains, but my brother was. He had a photographic memory, and knew every number of every engine and every railroad line. Wherever our family went, my brother had us stop at choice raliroad sites. There's something soothing about steam trains. My brother had

Yes, a few relationships have become clarified. One has been mended. A few surprise friends have come forward with good deeds. I read that domestic violence is way up, but my daughter is appreciating her husband more than she ever had before. I am so proud of my family right now, and we pull together, through encouraging and humorous texts and photos. Yeah, there’s some dark humor and zomb

Body-language experts say that tongue-licking or any other exposure of the tongue is essentially the same as a child sticking out his tongue at you. It is a marker of distain against you.

Aren't the Catholics and some other religions fasting also, as they usually do on Good Friday? The Mormons won't be able to claim ALL the credit.

Yes, S, you have changed your perspective. Instead of focusing on the fact that you are "unable to leave," focus on the fact that you abuser cannot get to you! When I first read your title, I was afraid you were trapped WITH the abuser. I hope you have the support of a good attorney, and a restraining order. Get all the help you can. Protect yourself. Take it seriously. My vi

Project for Ookami: Make your own easel! Hobby stores will let you call and buy are supplies ahead, and pick them up in front of the store, without going inside. I agree that 2001: A Space Odyssey is overrated, except for the music, but, oh, that's mainly Strauss, isn't it. I like horror movies, too, especially the old British Hammer films, but not when all this is going on. I'm sticking t

Good to see you on here, Dimmesdale! Our world is being turned upside down, and many of of us are in a state of fear and helplessness--and all Rusty, God's Prophet to The World, has to offer the world is the same-old obedience drivel, an over-used icon, and a hanky-wave? And money being spent on building temples, instead of helping people. After today, more people will realize it's all

Exactly! It IS a cemetery piece! Stephen L. Richards, the then owner of Wasatch Lawn Cemetery in SLC, and the owner of Forest Lawn Cemetery, LA, (can't remember his name) were both on the National Cemetery Association board together, and were good friends. Together, they commissioned two marble copies of the "Christus" statues, only in "heroic" proportions. Richard's Chris

Thanks for posting, Just Venting. Three months! You are ahead of us. Do you and your wife have a private bedroom, a yard, a balcony? Some noise-cancelling headphones on Amazon would be worth the huge expense. So much of this isolation is having to cope with the demons in your own head. I suffer from waves of PTSD flashbacks, but I'm lucky, because I'm in shelter with wonderful people th

After all the anticipationand hype, and in the middle of a great opportunity to donate millions, and uplift a world desperate for crumbs of hope and faith, the Mormon cult gives the people nothing but handkie-waving surrender, and the announcement of more temples. How out-of touch can they be? I'm glad I lost my testimony years ago, when I was happy and confident, and life was GOOD. Now, this

Yea, the ones I've joined in, in temple dedications, have been more like a hossahha mumble. It was like a chant, executed with ZERO enthusiasm, the men's voices drowning out the women's voices, in a low rumble of despair. The last one, Mom forgot a fresh handkerchief, but happened to have two in her purse. That was many years ago. How antiquated--no one uses handkerchiefs anymore. The hankie

I was raised in a small Northern California town, that was as close to perfection as any town could be. Many times, it has been voted one of the Nation's top bicycle towns. It's on a flat, between the foothills and the Bay. Just a 30-minute drive over a windy, wooded road, and we were at the beach. I remember the town as one giant, patchwork garden of carefully manicured yards. My father's d

How about saran wrap? That used to be a thing in the 1960's. Thanks! So, I can just take off my clothes and drape them over my car for a few hours, and wear them the next morning. Wash my hair when I get home, instead of waiting until bedtime. We can adapt! Tin Man isn't too far out there. My doctor friend has to wear a full hazmed suit, every day to work. Oh, here I go again...inh

I like to think that life will go on, that most of us will continue to work, and that someday we will be able to socialize again. I want to have some decent clothes to wear on those bright days in the future! I don't want to boil them all away. I have searched all over the internet, to find out how long the coronavirus lives on our clothes. No answers. I mean, if I hang up my clothes fo

Catnip and others, you are not alone. Yes, all the time. I had to take a lorazepam, yesterday, I was so hysterical. I've been busy getting my financial affairs in order, but need another week to complete everything, banks and everyone is overrun with hysterical old people. I don't know how to "off myself." If I knew, I would be prepared for that. I guess the virus might do it

Or just turn the podium around to face the choir and the stand. You made my (very grim) day, Elder Berry! Thank you for this visual! And no Mormoni's trumpet to accompany the choir. Nelson was right about one thing, though, this is a memorable conference time!

When I panic, I miss being able to pray, like I used to as a Mormon kid and young adult. But--if Mormon faith and prayer is so powerful, why are Mormon freaking out? Where is their comfort? Where is their solace, now that they really need it? Do Mormons hope that Rusty and the geezers will release some of their 100 billion towards helping battle the pandemic? Instead, missionaries are stil

I have not been able to sleep for many days, due to anxiety and PTSD (the feeling of not being "safe", and that I'm going to die). I was able to calm down and get into bed at 5:00 am this morning, and at 7:00 am, the earthqake hit. It shook one grandchild off the couch, and all the kids were running around, in excutment, and a mild sense of fearful adventure mixed in with it. I gr

My TBM daughter said that it's a relief that people can only text her, now. She isn't constantly pestered by Mormons from scouts and primary and YM/YW (or whatever these are called now!), and they didn't have to go to church on Sunday. I'm wondering if the Mormons will get to like this too much. I was always a social person (until I quit the cult and got permanently shunned), and even I thou

Ha-ha-ha! Maybe all of us will have an easier time "isolating", because we're used to it! The benefits of being shunned all these years.
