I am also a teacher, and fairly recently finished my Masters. Trust me when I tell you there is no comparing med or dental school to a MA in education in either the workload or the difficulty. Not dissing our profession, just stating what I have observed and experienced firsthand.

My daughter is currently in Dental School. I have seen firsthand the cost, and the workload. It is extreme. She has never been obsessed with money; she has just always wanted to be a dentist. I'm glad to see her making it happen. While I also do a double-take when I see my dental bills, I know what he had to do to get there. If I had worked that hard (to get to be a dentist), I would expect to

OP here. Thanks for all the great ideas. Wife and I had a great time. My employer put us up at the Venetian...wow, what a place! Caught a show every night, saw Cirque du Soliel Mystere, Rock of Ages, and a CarrotTop show. All were fantastic. Late at night, after dinner and shows, I played a lot of poker. Was WSOP Main Event week, and the poker scene was hoppin'. Walked away from Vegas a win

In a bar! She was there to link up with some friends; I was there to link up with some friends. Turns out it was the same group of people. At the time I was a jack-mo and she was a never-mo. We just celebrated our 25th anniversary.

I am a DLI grad, Basic Russian, almost 30 yrs ago. Never did the MTC, so can't compare. What I can tell you is that it was very intense, harder than any college I've done (and I have a MA degree). Like a previous poster noted, careers, pay, bonuses, and job assignments were all tied to your successful completion. Lots of pressure. But the students were top-notch, high aptitude individuals. I kne

Must be that time of year again. Saw of group of handcart wannabees, on a frontage road just off the interstate. 85 degrees or so, hotter on the pavement. Maybe 75 trekkies. Hope they had lots of water. Good lord, I sure can think of a lot better ways to spend a Thursday afternoon instead of celebrating your gullible ancestors and their poor decision-making skills.

My mom lives just outside of Portland; I'm visiting next week and will have to find out the details. I'm sure she will spin it to be "faith promoting" in some twisted way.

Well...the graveside service/burial ended up happening out of state. My family did not attend as we had a different funeral to attend locally. Evidently it was very nice. And then today there was a memorial service for her here, where she has lived and worked for almost 50 years. She was a jack Mormon for most of her adult life, but only recently returned to Moism during the last few years. So

Going to be in Vegas next week for work, and my wife is coming along. We want to catch a show or two. For those familiar with Vegas, any recommendations? There are so many shows! (and they all look good!) Oh, wife won't have anything to do with the burlesque-type, adult shows - even though she's not Mormon.

With your educational background, why not develop training seminars directed at the education industry? I realize that school districts may not pay as well as corporate, but there is a lot of government money being funneled into educational training.

Our school librarian didn't show up to work one morning, and wouldn't answer the phone. Suspecting something might be wrong, our principal and counselor went to her home. No answer. They called the police, who broke in. He told me it was like a scene from the Hoarders show. Our librarian had had a stroke in her bedroom; the EMT guys could barely get a stretcher in and out. She later passed aw

25 yrs ago while stationed in Alaska I visited "The Great Alaska Bush Company" in Anchorage, a locally famous strip club. Lets just say it was pretty "bushy" and leave it at that!

Wow. Maybe the brethren are trotting out these two as test cases, just to see what kinds of nonsense the sheeple will accept. It appears they will accept just about anything, as long as someone "in authority" tells it to them. Idiots.

I was a high school jock, with a cheerleader girlfriend. She was hot, hot, hot, and not a Mormon. The night we did it, I walked out of her house convinced I had just damned my soul to hell. You know, the sin next to murder thing and all. Thanks SWK. Bastard. May you rot in hell. But I never confessed. One of my friends who was a year older had, and I had seen what happened to him. He had to

It would make sense that most of the old-timers drastically cut back their tithing as they quit work...but then there are the investment accounts, land, portfolios, etc. to go after. I don't see the church letting loose of this demographic.

A close family friend, a long-time widow and shirt-tail relative by marriage, has cancer and is very close to passing; I don't think she will last another week. This incredible woman has been a part of our family and is like another grandparent to my (college-aged) kids. She was a jack Mormon most of her adult life, and only in the last couple of years returned to Mormonism. My SIL, her onl

A couple of years ago, a friend of mine was married by a Dudeist priest. Until then, I had no idea. I understand that he got his credentials through an internet course? Is that how you did it? Cool man. Keep abiding.

My daughter is in her first year of dental school. Just this week they started practicing shots on each other. One goal of the experience is for them to feel a little more empathy for their patients. According to her, many of them were "sweating bullets". I found it kind of humorous.

God must be Greek Orthodox. Father Michael's Eastern Queen roast is incredible, especially made in a French press. And I'm pretty sure he would prefer Voodoo Donuts.

I wonder if there would be legal grounds for them to sue...using the Churches own Articles of Faith against them.

Took my daughter out on the lake for a relaxing morning fishing. Didn't do a whole lot of catching, but got to catch up with her life; she's home for the weekend from school. It's been a great day so far...Gonna take a siesta... I feel so sorry for all those Morgbots wasting away 1/2 of their weekend for a lying, money grubbing cult. Their loss.

A friend of mine has been on several African safaris, and yes, he has shot a giraffe. What most people don't realize is that most "safaris" these days are on huge, fenced ranches. Like several hundred thousand acres in size. They are intensively managed, and any game animal that is killed, the meat goes to feed the locals and the families of the ranch employees. Nothing goes to wa

I honestly don't remember if it was in Provo or Salt Lake, but it was 82/83, so it wasn't the original release. Pretty sure it was Provo though.
