And what these rich and famous folks experience with Scientology is much different from what the rank and file experience.

I didn't like Speaker for the Dead. I haven't read his stuff since then. Something about all the atrocities young Ender committed that were somehow never his fault just rubbed me the wrong way. Plus, the family dynamics made me cringe. (Possibly because they had too many similarities to my own childhood family dynamics.) Of course, I was in elementary school when I read them.

Sometimes, if I can't find a variation of Rebeckah (on other forums) I use Rianya -- a name I made up some time ago. But I don't like change so I avoid it.

However, I shudder to think of the message sent when you say a man can follow and frighten a young man and then shoot him and claim self defense. Zimmerman instigated the entire event -- which leads me to believe that self defense does not and should not apply. He had no business stalking after Trayvon.

The reality is that monogamy also appears to be better for society because unattached males are more likely to be aggressive and violent. Polygyny also creates a lot of stress for women and children with attendent harms.

They're a special dress code to keep Mormons feeling super special. They're uncomfortable and ugly, so Mormons can feel virtuous about how much they sacrifice for their religion. They're a point of control/obedience -- the more stupid stuff a person voluntarily submits to the more pride they have tied up in believing the validity of the organization that got them to comply in the first plac

Judaism, Christianity, Islam, you name it. If it's patriarchal in nature then many of the adherents of the religion will blame women for the violence done to them.

That's really all there is to it. Now me? I dress so virtually no skin shows -- but I also get a rash from the sun so I have no choice. It doesn't matter what your body type is or your gender and it shouldn't matter what religion you are, clothing choices should be made based on asthetics, comfort and safety. :)

If "obedience" was actually a good quality in a deity? I mean, wouldn't initiative, critical thinking skills, problem solving skills and innovation be far more useful to a deity?

So that MAY be where the pressure you report originated from. I suspect, however, from what I've read that it's not a spiritual or religious benefit but more of a matter of having a social net to give you support. So as long as you've got support you should still reap the same benefits that other folks find in church membership and the like. :) (By the way, the "turn you into an

So, women get to risk their lives and health popping out babies and that justifies men being given authority in all things? Bullshit.

118. Yes.
Even if you are married, with children and can't afford another while giving your existing children a decent life. Even if you are married, correctly using birth control, and the current pregnancy puts you at risk of death or permanent harm -- which would effectively leave your children without a mother. Even if you are (or aren't) married and didn't consent to sexual activity. Because w
