My dad asked me the same question. I told him I was not worried about it because I know him or some other dead dunk fanatic in my family will re-baptize and re-ordinance me 1 year to the day after I die, and I will accept it in spirit prison and I will see him in the celestial. I also told him my backup plan, that Brigham Young(?) taught that if the parents are faithful they will drag the ki

I went with my sisters boyfriend and his brother. In the W&A my first thought was, is this guy going to grab my junk, followed by, if this is what they do in this room what the hell is coming next? In the endowment, I thought the outfits were cool. Yeah, I was a dork. Then I wondered why satan was the only guy with an apron like the one I am wearing, and why is he the only one that answ

They give all to the church and the church "gives" them according to their wants. There was a great post a while back that showed the history of how our upper management is paid. Can't look it up right now.

My wife is a cafeteria Mormon. It is infuriating sometimes. But aren't most religious people cafeteria style? Yes there are the hardcore in any faith. But I have found most are just there for friends, family, or the 5% of the beliefs they like. The ones that do not admit they are cafeteria mormons are the ones that drive me crazy.

I have found that honesty and integrity mean more as ano exmo than they did as a tbm. I did not realize how much I was lying to myself and to others, and how much I tolerated it in others until I stopped believing. Anyone else have similar self discoveries?

Observer, it was current prophets lies and church policies that led me out, not early history. The church is mainstreaming, plain and simple. Being a Mormon does not mean today what it meant even 5 years ago. And 5 years from now it will be different again. No more gods and planets, the garments will have no visible markings, and the TRI will be pro forma, as long as you are a tithe paye

Ok this makes me laugh. I am staring at our last family photo of 40 plus people all in white shirts and jeans. It is a beautiful picture. And only half of them are Mormon. I do not think this is just a Mormon thing.

My TBM parents told me how peaceful and happy I seemed to be. I told them the next day why.

I gave the wrong name at the veil once. My helper freaked. The " lord" did not even notice. I had to do it again. Another time me and another brother had a contest to see who could do more confirmations per Dunkee. We screwed up their numbers for the whole day. ( we did about 150 in 20 minutes)

I was going to say the same thing. Church leadership is having it pounded into their headed to be as non intrusive as possible in the interview, and to accept yes or no answers and to discourage delving deeper by the interviewee. Upper management does NOT care about your personal behavior as you pay and keep it quiet.

I have been a daily lurker and frequent poster for about 8 months. You guys have helped me through some tough times. Lately though I have found fewer and fewer of the posts that interest me, and politics are becoming a regular topic in posts. Is it just me or is the board in a very vitriolic phase or am I just getting healthy enough to not need it? Just wondering if anyone else is feeling

Even if only 25% are real, it is worth it to post. Because of this board, I called a hotline on a particularly , and it helped tremendously, maybe even keeping me alive, so thanks to all of you. Didn't I read that this site gets over 1 million hits a day? I guarantee that at least one person needed to hear the words of encouragement, even if they were for a troll.

When I train trainers and managers, when the topic of staffing comes up, I have always taught the 80/20 rule. This rule states that 80% of your production comes from 20% of your staff. I have seen it over and over again in real life situations, I am glad the research bears this out. I had not extrapolated the idea to fields other than sales, but it makes sense.

My wife and I once lived in a very affluent ward due to a ward boundary fluke and had gone through some serious financial hardship. We received help(rent for about 6 months), and some good advice about our marriage, from the bishop at the time. And while the help was needed and appreciated, he once said to me "we can't all be salt of the earth". I do not know what he meant by th

I read The Godmakers at 18, 5 months before I went to the temple for the first time. Left 20 years later. But I still believe the church's own materials are the most damning. My personal favorite: Temple and Cosmos - Hugh Nibley. That is one crazy ass book.

We did not beat each other down. I know it sounds that way but I have always been the one that questioned the church's policies and doctrines, and I have always enjoyed it. It normally does not bother me, I believe that if someone is offensive, and they mean to be, that responding to it lets them win, and if they did not mean it to be offensive(which my dad did not) then it is not worth the relat
