One city in Colorado paid a woman $50,000 for arresting her for showing her boobs in public. What a state, paying people to show their boobs! https://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/local-news/loveland-woman-charged-for-playing-frisbee-with-fiance-while-topless-wins-50k-settlement

Last attended in 2008. Was teaching EQ at the time, but was mixing truth with the lessons and got the job taken away. I was taking things from No Man Knows My History that cited JHS, written by the man himself. And contrasting it to what is taught now. After pushing my luck and getting released, I figured I could do no more good there. So I just stopped going. I moved to a building that y

I did attend a nondenominational church with my ex wife a few times. I spent the time whispering in her ear things like, "That's B.S., what about the poor children starving with malnutrition?" As a response to things like if you just believe in Jesus he will take care of all your needs etc. I don't think I could do any church without my B.S. meter always going off.

After finding out I was so thoroughly duped, I was skeptical of any other brand. I studied cultural anthropology in university and found that every culture comes up with myths to explain the explainable. It's a flaw us humans have. Some believe the spirit of the forest, or cave. Others some other powerful magical being. But all have something. I decided that it is just human weakness. The

I could have left at 16 also. My dad told me that if I dind't go to church, I couldn't live there. So I found an apartment in a city 20 miles away and signed a contract. I wrecked my car that weekend, and so didn't move out. My life would have been so much better if I had. Instead, I stayed for another 25 years. So much wasted time.

If you read Hare's book, Snakes in Suits, you'll see that many psychopaths can run companies and be CEO's.

My own complaint along these same lines would be: Never having winter boots or gloves as a kid. Having to buy my own clothes from an after school job on a farm starting in 7th grade in the late 70's. Like really, socks, shoes, jeans, coat etc. Every time going to MIA had an event that needed money, I had to come up with it myself. Between 7th grade and 12th grade, I got $20 from my parent

My SLC ward on the east side wasn't as bad perhaps. Or maybe I was allowed more being as I wasn't Queer. But I'm sure I probably said more than what she got called in for. When Utah was voting on an amendment to make marriage between a man and a woman, I got the the polling place at the same time as the EQ Pres. I told him that I was going to cancel out his vote.

This was a sad article. I haven't been on here much in the past 10 years, so I don't know if she is out and posts here or not. But I hope she has left by now. https://www.the-exponent.com/living-in-silence/

Last I went to church was before smart phones. But the tech types had the hymns on their phones or palm pilots. Don't remember which now. I found that odd at the time that they would rather hold their phones, instead of the book. I'm curious what things look like there now with smart phones and people addicted to them. I know my university students can't get through an hour and a half of cla

Sounds like they are digging in their heels on the perfection thing. That idea was already contributing to an epidemic of depression among members in Utah. Having an expectation that you can never live up to is a recipe for depression.

When I went to UVU in the late 90's and early 2,000's, there were a lot of good professors who were pushed out of BYU there. I'm sure they enjoyed teaching better when they didn't need a temple recommend to teach.

The more people they can get to believe in their God, and join their club, the more they feel that theirs is the right one. The more they invest in converts, the more right they feel. If people were really so right, they wouldn't need others validation that they are right. It's all psychological games, mixed with religion.

Once I left mormonism, believing in a God didn't make sense for me. But I understand that many leave mormon beliefs, but not God beliefs. When people ask me questions like, "But what if you are wrong, and there is a God?" I tell them that if there is a God, I'll tell God that it was unreasonable for me to believe in him. I'll say, "You did such a crappy job, how could I

Wow, this wasn't a thing in the early 80's at my high school. I would have gladly partook vs nothing at all. I stayed a virgin till my senior year out of fear of going to hell. Finally a girl made me think it was worth going to hell. And it was.

When I see them(in the country I live in now), I always say something like, "Hey mormon dudes.) That gives them a spark. Then I ask how the dunking is going, how many splashes have they had while out here? etc. Then they ask if I'm mormon, and I say no. But tell them I've studied about it(I claim to be nevermo, can't face the embarrassment of being that dumb). I tell them that it has som

In addition to what Breeze has said, which is warning enough, a lot of things just won't matter anymore. And once they don't matter, it can get annoying. Seeing every church pronouncement on the news will seem crazy. How is that something on the news at 10:00pm? Everything closing down on Sunday will seem weird. Though grocery shopping is easiest then. Funny underwear and no cleavage

I actually don't believe in hell, or heaven for that matter. But I have Muslim students in my university courses. And they are worried about me going to hell. It's because they like me, and it's genuine concern. But here's what I tell them. If there is a hell, I think I'll like it there best. I think I'm a good person. And if people like me go to hell, there's bound to be many more like m

Being a mormon wasn't enjoyable. But I felt like I had to do it, or I'd go to hell. And I believed it because God had a face to face chat with JS and told him to tell me. Once I found that JS never had that chat, and was a liar and a con man, I was free to jump ship!

This relates to my divorcing my family. I never officially resigned. I was content to just never go and disappear. It was working. First after stopping attending, I moved into a building with secure doors that you must be rung into. So I never had the rescue committee coming after me. Then I moved to a foreign country. So at the point of resigning, I had never attended for 8 years. After
