Steve, I would suggest that when you speak with Mr. Foxman again you also point out that there is ALWAYS a CONFIRMATION step performed with each baptism in which two Mormon priests holding the "higher priesthood" confirms the deceased person is in fact a member of CoJCoLdS, and a third holder of the higher priesthood officially records this confirmation of membership on the rolls of th

My video: Understanding Mormon Baptism for Jewish Holocaust Victims http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHl-ebTbgOs attempts to do the things discussed in this thread so far: It points out that the practice of Name Extraction was started 50 years ago and expanded multiple times. It points out that baptism is but the first step. It points out that the CONFIRMATION step CONFIRMS someone a me

Yes, I agree completely, the Mormons would use the "Do not Baptize" list as a list to DEFINITELY baptize. Reminds me of a place I worked years ago where they had a problem with a particular door being propped open in the evenings against company policy. So, they removed everything in the lobby that could be used to prop the door open. Still the problem persisted. Finally, they had

Perhaps we should create one and submit it to the Church's Family History or Genealogical Department. They wouldn't respect it, of course, but we might be able to garner some media attention, and therefore compel them to reply before cameras and reporters, etc. I like the idea!

I was ward clerk several times, and assistant ward clerk for membership a couple of more times. The other folks sometimes attached to records are not tracked or kept, and once you are deleted, they will be also. (At least that's the way it always worked when I was active.) Send in the letter, and be free. Congratulations on making the decision.

Yes, I was going to address the polygamy issue (a many remarrying after his wife dies, and then after he dies COJCOLDS seals him to BOTH of his wives in life, essentially making him a polygamist in heaven), but I thought the video was getting kind of long already, so I just left that part out. It is a valid (and annoying) complaint for a great many people who don't want anyone to think Grandpa

A video I produced expressing my understanding of why Mormons baptize Holocaust victims, US Presidents, etc. This is the first video I've made in a long time in which I was trying to be serious rather than humorous. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHl-ebTbgOs

The Simon Wiesenthal institute (I think that's the right name) has released a screen print showing that Asher Wiesenthal was necro-dunked on Jan 24, 2012 in the Mesa Temple. Here's a link to a video I produced expressing my understanding of why Mormons baptize Holocaust victims, US Presidents, etc. This is the first video I've made in a long time in which I was trying to be serious rather than

I don't come by very often nowadays, but I value the thoughts of the RfM community. On my blog (The Moron Church) I had someone a few days ago who seems to be a faithful LDS member add a comment to a three-year old post about Moronic Magic Underwear. S/he started engaging me in conversation first about why I mock and ridicule LDS beliefs, but then today asked me about the role of faith. He

My deepest sympathies for you on the loss of your father. I remember when my father died. I was TBM at the time and asked permission to have a memorial service for my NeverMo father at our ward building. The bishop (a close friend) gave his consent and I conducted my father's service there. Although I was in ward leadership (ward clerk) and had many, many friends in the ward, not a single m

A friend of mine posted this somewhere else, and I thought it might be good to seek input here as well. Annual Ex-Mormon March Though Salt Lake City: Truly a "Come As You Really ARE Party!" Seeking volunteers . . . That's it -- if it doesn't exist, what do I need to do to make it exist? I guess we have to telephone City Hall in SLC and organize? I want -- we need -- an annual

The teachings of the church are clearly and obviously false. The teachings of the church are HARMFUL (particularly to women and children). The leadership of the church is corrupt and will lie and manipulate to get what it wants, even if that means destroying your marriage and separating you from your wife and children. You must act now. Do NOT fake it until you make it. You will be setting

Both Joseph Smith, Senior and Joseph Smith, Junior were psychics. They did lots of psychic things and even got paid for their psychic talents. Psychic and Mormon just kind of go together. But then, psycho and Mormon just kind of go together, too!

Kinderhook plates are fun. Adam-God theory Quakers on the moon. No steel or horses in ancient America. No linguistic relationship between native American and middle eastern languages. John Taylor's lies about polygamy. Joseph Smith's lies about polygamy.

These kinds of stories, and there are many of them, where there is a significant strain in families because of disaffection from the church are always sad. I am fortunate in that since I am a convert, none of my siblings were ever in the church. My wife's father is a neverMo, but was mostly supportive of my MIL, but she died a few years ago. My wife's siblings are all far away, and two of th

The local newspaper started a series of "Then and Now" (kind of a "where are they now?" or "What ever happened to. . . " series) and they started the series off with a story about me. I've posted the story here: http://www.faithandrepentance.org/callahan_tribune_061411.pdf And a shorter version (essentially a teaser version online by the newspaper) here: http:

at first I was kinda thinking "this is weird" "is this for real" and it took me a bit to catch on that it was satire. It's pretty good. My favorite that I've read so far is that he, following the example of the General Authorities to whom it is inappropriate to ask an autograph, the stake president has directed the high council to instruct the various wards that they shou
