Great words, but as PapaKen pointed out - "no action". How much more impact would the words of Utah's Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox, have had nationally and internationally if he had lined up to give blood too? By their deeds ye shall know them.

What a sad unfeeling reaction on the part of a supposed christian and such a kick in the guts to hear that from your own father if as your screen name suggests you yourself are gay. Just remember though that he is probably of a generation that grew up in an atmosphere of homophobia and ignorance made worse by the teaching of TSCC, and people often fear and lash out at that which they do not under

Australian hearts sank too when we awoke to the news of the horrific shootings at the nightclub in Orlando. I am sure that I echo the sentiments of a vast majority of Australians when I say that our loving thoughts go out to the families and loved ones of those who were killed or wounded in this devastating incident. To you PapaKen and all the other LGBTQ posters on this board, my beautif

As much as I dislike TSCC, I think this is a matter of "dammed if they do, and dammed if they don't." According to the article this young woman walked out when she was in an emotionally distressed state. If this was indeed so then I do believe the TSCC has a duty of care in finding her as quickly as possible in case she has suicidal intent. On the other hand, if they do find her a

Good on you Exmo Aspie. I'll miss your stories about Brother Gummy and the crazy seminary class but am so glad to hear that is all behind you now and that your real life begins next month. Have a wonderful 'mofree' life and keep in touch with us all here.

Some very good visuals there. I could picture it very clearly. Loved the bit about 15 or more clowns popping up out of a tiny yellow car.

"Poor indoctrinated mishie babies that should be out doing what normal 18 year olds do...." Couldn't agree more, the kiddie mishies should be back home being normal teenagers and getting a head start on real life. As for "this type of missionary abuse..." long after I left TSCC, my late husband and I provided free medical treatment for several young missionaries, fed oth

Veiled threats sounds about right. But then again they could be called 'flaming swords'. "Sister Genie, an angel with a flaming sword commanded me in no uncertain words to tell you he wants you on doggy poo patrol in the car park (or insert appropriate command here). If you don't obey, he will kill me."

That was my first instinct, but it would only make them feel more self righteous and martyred. One of my daughters suggested offering them some hash cookies, but I guess that would only make them a little bit happier and just as self righteous. (Besides my son said "Stuff that, they're not getting any of my hash stash"). Pity I am not going to be home because I would really love t

Following our visit from some older missionaries the other day, my son sprung it on me last night that they are coming back today. What a pity they will have a 100 kilometre round trip for nothing because I am going to be out for most of the day. So here's hoping they read and take heed of the following note I am pinning to my front door. Anyhow I guess it really doesn't matter if they don't t

Mormons are like weeds in the garden of religion. Weeds do not respect boundaries and no matter how hard you try to get rid of them they keep popping back up.

Yep, one would think that 25 years of inactivity would be a good indication of total lack of interest in TSCC. As for having the brains and good sense to realise this, brain cells atrophy if not used, so I guess that's what happens when every one believes that "when the prophet (or his priesthood holding minions) speaks, the thinking has been done."

Another older missionary couple came to my door again today to speak to my son. After twenty-five years of not bothering with him these were the second lot in about ten months. Luckily my son answered the door because he was a darn sight politer to them than I would have been. It seems that in the course of their conversation they pretended not to know I’d been ex-communicated and asked h

So glad to hear that you and your family are safe Ron. We get some really devastating bush fires here in Australia, but to hear of 18000 refugees and 90% property loss is truly horrific! Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with our Canadian cousins.

With his golden trumpet in one hand and a Book of Mormon in the other the angel drifted down over the battlefield. His white robes fluttered around him in the cold morning breeze and he wished he'd listed to heavenly mother and worn his long underwear. Any underwear at all would have been warmer...

I hope they remain on the foreshore at Rocky and don't come door knocking at Cooloongup. I could just imagine the arguments my fervent Evangelical daughter-in-law would give them if they or the mormon mishies were foolish enough to knock on her door.

I was ex-communicated in 1979 and can still clearly remember our (soon to be revealed child molesting but never exe'd) Branch President telling me that being ex-communicated I could not pay tithing. However if I wanted to ensure my survival from the flames of the last days, I could, and should, pay my tithing through my children. Yeah right, only took me a few seconds to decide that if I wasn

Had a good belly laugh at this description of Melbourne. You must have been here when everyone was at the beach or clogging up the roads commuting back and forth to work. Seriously though, every capital city in Australia has som

Australia is a vast country and there is so much to see and do that that you would need to spend a lot longer than a week here. As a couple of posters have said, "summer can get bloody hot ". Where I live in North Eastern Victoria we have recently had temperatures of up to 38 celsius (over 100 fahrenheit). So unless you really love the heat summer may not be the best time to visit.
